- The United Left swept the Jawaharlal Nehru University Students’ Union (JNUSU) elections on 24 March. Newly elected Dhananjay told The Quint his key poll issues include better infrastructure in hostels, and more fellowships. He said films like ‘Bastar’ and ‘JNU’ were meant to defame the university.

Those who are worried about student's age must know that JNU is a research university. Majority of the students come there after completing their Bachelors and Masters, and research students everywhere whether it is in IITs or IISCs or MIT are slightly older than freshers who are studying in undergraduate.

Kudos to all the student leaders! Nowadays we could read such leadership in schools and colleges only in the fiction books set from 1900s to 1980s. Leadership in educational institutions slowly began to vanish from real life schools and colleges since 1990s mainly because of the increased centralized competitive examinations as eligibility for jobs. Nowadays we have centralized eligibility exams even for UG colleges. Hence schools have abandoned the leadership roles for the 10 th and 12 in all Indian Board schools. And all private colleges and deemed universities just don't know what it means to create leaders. In the midst of all this it's truly refreshing to know a dalit and leftist students emerging as leaders in the country's eminent University JNU.

It is horrible to see such people as students in Universities. How can they achieve academic excellence with such attitude and language? How can they be the asset of the nation ? Almost 100% politician. There is no feeling of gratefulness to the common man on whose contributions free institutions ,hostels survive . Universities must be solely for the search of knowledge .
