There was a company in Australia (Elliot Engineering I think) that started building these tables back in the early 90's. They were a copy of a Demmeler table and looked virtually identical to this table. They called them "KwikJig" tables. I purchased one in 1996 and at the time, it was a pretty significant purchase for me (around $10K) I was a little worried at first if it was going to be worth the price. After using it for a month or so, all my fears were gone. It was by far the best purchase I ever made. The speed and accuracy that you can fabricate on these tables is unbelievable. You are going to love this piece of equipment. Accumulate as many clamps, twist locks, angle plates and attachments that you can, you can never have too many.
Im a 19 year old welder located in Snowhill NC and been in the welding industry for 2 years and I have never seen someone work like you, you have some insane fabrication skills.👍🏽
Seems like an exciting career … there are so many ways to go things to learn .. if I were young again , I would learn all I could about welding , from welding to the technology the science the engineering etc lol You sound like you are off to a good start. Keep welding !
Especially those smooth chamfers across the jobs, be it inside or outside, diameter, square, rectangle, or oval. Simply keep on admiring the skills. I don't think these are taught in institutions.
Loving your channel more and more. What a lot of people don't realize about being a "welder", is that welding is the easy part. When you learn how to do proper fitting, fabrication, and being able to visualize and build something offsite, and then assemble onsite, that is what sets a person apart from other "welders". In my opinion, you've nailed that and beyond. It's been about 15 years since I worked in a welding/machining shop, and I can sure notice that I don't think how I used to when I worked in that environment. You really get into a different frame of mind, and way of thinking, that most people will never understand. Keep the videos coming man, not only is your workmanship great, the editing is as well. Very enjoyable to watch.

One day i will have all that nice equipment and tools you have but until then i will do what I can with what I have. 3 points of contact is my current method until i have a nice flat table like the one in this video. Thank you for the entertainment and knowledge you have given me access to.

First off I agree with whoever said we absolutely appreciate the time and effort you put into these videos, just not the time between each video. Plus you got a lot of new toys, not just the table, the new welder and fancy new hood plus all those goodies from Jason at Fireball. Anyway, as you can tell we all love the content it’s encouraging and helpful as well as inspiring. Thanks

It was hard to fork put the cash for the table at first but I'm really glad I did and the shipping from China really wasn't that bad.

glad to see a table like this being used and not a shop monument you don't want to scratch because you still have 7 years of payments on it...lol. very nice table and setup gear..
I covet the gadgets that you used to make the hand rails. After building handrails for 25 years it would have been nice to have some of those! But that table though! WOW! Thank you very much for sharing, I actually didn’t know about your channel but now sub’d. I’m a retired fabricator/ Welder for 47 years. Still a huge passion and big part of my life, I love to learn from you guys with awesome new techniques.
Just found your channel or should I say it landed in my que. At 60 years old I’m new to welding. Picked it up when I couldn’t find someone to build my two gates. With my new Miller Multimatic 220 and a few Fireball squares I built those two gates. Wife was real happy too! Sub’d, liked and learned some too. Thanks!
You have first class equipment with a first class tradesman, and you get stunning first class results, absolutely love the new welding table and accessories, fantastic. The hand railing and gate are quite tasteful and beautiful. Thank you so much for sharing.
You could not have done that job efficiently without that table. I bet you didn't swear once! I had to build a bifold gate (1.8 m high, 4 panels about 0.8 m wide) to replace a heavy one (110 kg) that was broken in my driveway. I couldn't get anyone interested in doing the job so I bought a AUD 250 welder and a really hilariously small welding table for AUD 150. I had never welded before. Having a table like yours would have made the job so much easier. I got it done and it was all square and the hinges were perfect. I can open and shut it with my finger it works so freely ( I reduced the weight to about 50 kg). I did get a practical lesson in the banana effect and I just got the angle grinder and cut 2 of the three horizontal bracing straps and got my scissor jack in and just gave the structure a gentle Newtonian tickle and tacked it, tested the fit and movement and then went full gorilla on the final welds. That would never have been necessary with a beautiful table like yours.
This is the best welding and fabrication channel out there. The production and video is second to none! I was thinking to myself this morning “man he hasn’t posted a video in a while, I hope he’s still at it” Thanks for the awesome content keep it up!
I just met you and subscribed. I work as a welding mechanic and your welding table is out of this world, when you took out all the accessories, to hold the pieces to be welded, I was impressed. A totally amazing table. Greetings from, España. Gracias por dar a conocer, esta bonita profesión, mecánico soldador..
Gday, been full on binge watching all your videos mate, heaps of informative tips, your quality of work is 100%, the welding table is bloody awesome, cheers
Hey thanks Matty I enjoy yours too, it tough working and making videos…… you might recognize part of the trolly design on the 20000 pound handrail video haha
Very nice table and jigs and clamp kit!. Great handrails there too - and wonderful videogrpahy and story telling as we've come to expect on your channel. Inspiring stuff. Thanks for sharing.
I do alot of railing repair and basic railing and it keeps me busy. One thing I can say you have a great set up. It seems in our area people don't understand how much time, equipment, and materials to make it happen.
Bro its the same with all the trades. People think I'm hosing them to try and make a decent wage. I ain't retiring off this one job I'm doing for you, sir. Just trying not to lose money in the process. The money I have invested in my meager shop and equipment and tools and consumables and insurance and everything else is staggering. /rant
Whoa...you are so organized. OCD, anyone?? Most fab shops look nothing like your beautiful...what is it, a modified 3 car garage? Very nice, dude. I salute you. You also have some kind of budget to buy all those sweet tools and fixtures.
I always love when people complain about our prices. If they only knew how much we had to spend for quality tools, just so they can get a quality product in a timely fashion. Time is money, and so are good tools. That being said, I love your set up man.
I am certain it has nothing to do with tooling. I am a designer and every country, state, whatever has the same costs for tooling. And the idea that it has to be US made to be a quality piece is nonsense. Where the increase in cost occurs is corporate profit, not labor or materials used in production.
As a standing seam roof specialist, tell the owner to get the roof seams double locked. Shallow pitches do in fact have water infiltration when ice builds up on them. I’ve seen many leaks from this with 25 years experience in cold climates. Awesome work.
Its flatter than I can measure accurately i have a 4 foot starrett straight edge and can't get a shim in anywhere....I had to mess with the extentions a little before I tightened the bolts buts easily aerospace flat everywhere.....he gives you his tolerances and at least with my table hes well within those
That table trolley lifting jawn is pretty damn clever!! That railing turned out amazing, well done man. Im sure the table and tooling made it a bit easier to square up. Great buy that tables gonna make u money.
Always enjoy seeing investment in quality tooling and fixtures, years down the line when your still nailing fast accurate works, there will be a knowing grin as these tools accompany you on your journeys. Enjoy the films man.thanks
I have a much lighter version table of this table. Its not a Kovosu but being able to fix all your parts in position without laying any tacks just changes everything. Every dimension can be checked and adjusted. And if you have more than one item to make you want the fast repeatability that a fixture table can offer. Its not until you use one that you realise how good they are.
Working for a local fab shop in Sweden 2 mil usd rev and we do the same kind of projects except they have not invested anything in making the experience easy and precise for the workers. All the fun in these projects is the idea of being proud of what you have built but without proper tables and tools the job becomes a pain in the ass. We use old rusty H beams as work benchs lmao
@@dailydoseofeverything2245 yes I worked at one of those places before I started my own it was the same way….. just start your own you can do well even in a garage 2 mil a year is that much👊
Nice Table and Nice Railing! There is a simple mod you can make for your Ellis to cut those (sharp) angles perfectly. Weld a plate adjacent to a pc of sq tube (90 degrees) then just clamp plate to Ellis fence. Now you have an intersecting fence that you clamp material to. Make a left and a right. Flat plate needs to be flush on blade side and plenty long on other for clamping. Also it's a good Idea to a weld a pc of fb on bottom to shim up. Cheers!
@@Darnic-Fab I wish I had your plasma table! The link might work now-but basically you weld a pc of flat bar to the end of approx. 24" long pc of square tube 1-1/4 square or what you have lying around (capping) it and hanging fb off to one side long enough to use your Ellis material clamp to hold it in place. You can then clamp the material you want to cut -to the square tube to get more than 45* Its an adaptor that enables you clamp (the material you are cutting) 90* from where you usually cut it.
awesome table...I'm jealous... watching you roll up the left over ratchet strap blew my mind...that's exactly how I do it...never saw anyone else do it my way.. guess great minds think alike. enjoy your new table!
I love the new welding table! I can't wait till my new shop is built I will have a hole for one of these then! I like the table mounted rolling bar you made super smart idea that's gotta save so much time for a one man band. I use my back hoe like a second person almost every day so I am always looking at ways to do a multiple man job solo. and I am going to go look at the milwaukee storage boxes you have that is very cool way to sort every thing and have quick access to it! thanks for the video and hope all is well!
Enjoyed the video apart from the music that was close to torture. The table is a real treat, but for doing handrails seems overkill unless you churn out twenty similar pieces a month. Here in California I used to work in the sweat shops making handrails by the mile. They would sometimes build them on dirt. The price per foot was so low that no fabricator would touch a railing job. Now if you fabricate complex items for the oil industry, than this is the right tool for sure. Hand rails do not require accuracy. Anyway I subscribed today. Greetings from Brittany France.
I am all about spending my money local but like you said in your case West Weld, you are saving roughly 50%. Money is to hard to come by unless you bust and break your ass working 20 hours a day. I get it when local companies need to make a profit and all but if you can save hundreds or even thousands of dollars, you have to do what you need to do. Ever since Covid started everything has jumped in price. Now some companies need to raise their prices to sty afloat but others have just raised their prices out of greediness.
Great video and weld table was what drew me in 👍👍 But I know you know and sure that hundreds of people have mentioned it but might want to start using gloves even thin ones just for the UV protection. I have used sunblock but way too much grease and slippery to use . I have had a LOT of places cut out and had cancers taken out because welding. Or another thing is just get a $10 a month cancer policy it's well worth it . I had the cancer policy and was actually paid more from the policy than my out of pocket so It would have paid for the table anyway if you don't want to wear gloves 👍👍 I am new subscriber to the channel keep up the videos
Gotta agree. Because we love, wear the glove. That's the worst type of UV you are getting and it's far, far more that you could ever get from the sun. Do it for your kids, if not for you.
Well you never disappoint on video quality ! Got quite a few new goodies since your last video ! Makes it a whole lot easier working by yourself ! Thanks for posting !
thank you for this video.... you supply a lot of good tip to make life easier. the barels spacer seems simple but exceptionnal. Regarding the job itself : congratulation, that's very cute and nice design... I expecte to see other video....
I got the 2400x1200x200mm plasma nitrided with a ton of clamps....there are some pictures on my Instagram if you'd like to see all the tooling @_west.weld_
I live in Germany so I bought a Seigmund table. It is much more flat than what they spec'd it at. The tooling package cost more than the table. It is the most used tool in my shop.
That is my biggest complaint with seigmund tables , I think they are really nice and I don’t think the tables are too overpriced but the tooling prices are too much, I don’t think it should double the price just for tooling
Im glad I got to see this video, as I’ve seen some of your others and assumed you blew the bank account on a fireball fab table.. (not that it’s not worth it, but whoa). As always .. awesome work man
I want to do metal fabrication and have been looking for a good table. Ain't gonna lie, I think j just saw over $100,000 in tools alone.😅 Hope u got a good price for the handrails!
Having seen kovosu pricing, he's actually got less than $10k in that table believe it or not! they are high quality at a very attractive price point compared to seigmund
@@Chris-jg3cl that's what I was hoping to find out. I sure wish he would have broke down the costs on all of what he bought. Are you including all of his fixtures and extensions ?
Awesome video, love Colorado. Aussie viewer. Just started learning to weld (mid life crisis) and this video is a great start. The quality of that bench and your setup tooling looks killer.
Really dig what you do man! I'm over here in Denver, and just getting my feet wet with welding and fab. Our sheet metal shop has grown over the last year and half and we decided it was time to start adding to our resume of stuff we can do. Love the GJ area and when I get frustrated in Denver traffic, makes me wish I was over in your neck of the woods! Keep doing great work bud!
If your saw has it so the bow swings to 45 degrees you can make a jig that’s at 90 degrees . Get some 3 or 4” box section that goes in the vice then weld some angle on that at 90 degrees so if looking in a birds eye view the box looks Horizontal angle is vertical . You can then lay what you are cutting in that web . Then if set the saw to cut at 30 normally it would give you 60 degrees. I only use this if cutting batches.
I see you have or had a big cast iron acorn type welding table. Did you replace with this one? Why did you opt for metal vs cast iron? Are you able to do plasma cutting over the top using stand offs? Thanks for your help!!
Did it pass inspection? Usually the ballasters need to run vertically so they don't form a ladder for children to climb over the railing to pass inspection.

how flat is the table w/ the wings? any humps where they drilled the holes or welded the tubes?
Its flatter than I can measure accurately i have a 4 foot starrett straight edge and can't get a shim in anywhere....I had to mess with the extentions a little before I tightened the bolts buts easily aerospace flat everywhere.....he gives you his tolerances and at least with my table hes well within those
@@westweld very nice, have heard of other brands of tables being more taco or potato chip shaped. thanks for the info.
Those expando-matic parts of the table hardware are handy! Aaron, I appreciate that you share tips to achieve quality results.
Thanks Allen glad you stopped by
That table trolley lifting jawn is pretty damn clever!! That railing turned out amazing, well done man. Im sure the table and tooling made it a bit easier to square up. Great buy that tables gonna make u money.
Thanks man it already has I have no regrets
Wow!!!!! What a nice addition to your shop. Thanks for sharing 👍.
My Dad was a blacksmith. He'd really love to watch you work.
Well you better hurry and tell him haha thanks for checking out my channel
WOW, what a beautiful table, if you can call a table beautiful that’s it.
thats a nice table! i was welding in a tiny booth with 2 shitty tressels all day, so jealous!
That is one serious table, thanks for sharing.
what flatness tolerance are they rated too?
Very flat….. mine is less than .002” out in any 4’ span ( my largest precision straight edge is 4’)
@@westweld thanks for that info. That's plenty dam flat ! Nearly as flat as Lubbock TX where I can watch my dog run away for several days.
Always enjoy seeing investment in quality tooling and fixtures, years down the line when your still nailing fast accurate works, there will be a knowing grin as these tools accompany you on your journeys.
Enjoy the films man.thanks
congratulations I think this is the best welding table I aver seen a piece or art.
just found ur channel . me and Mr Putin must be glad to watching ur ws and all of ur tools . including fireball tools .
Came to check out a fixture table and saw the skills you have at play and now I’m subscribed looking forward to watching more
That table is absolutely nuts. Invaluable tool.
@@dailydoseofeverything2245 yes I worked at one of those places before I started my own it was the same way….. just start your own you can do well even in a garage 2 mil a year is that much👊
I use a Demmeller table at work that cost over $32k. Your bench and tooling looks almost exactly the same.
Cheers!
Thanks Don thats a good idea
Im a very visual person, and also own a Ellis. would you have any photos of this set up?
@@Darnic-Fab Workin on it brother
@@donsmith9081 That link you sent me brings me back here.
Two global geniuses😁
I love the new welding table! I can't wait till my new shop is built I will have a hole for one of these then! I like the table mounted rolling bar you made super smart idea that's gotta save so much time for a one man band. I use my back hoe like a second person almost every day so I am always looking at ways to do a multiple man job solo. and I am going to go look at the milwaukee storage boxes you have that is very cool way to sort every thing and have quick access to it! thanks for the video and hope all is well!
Thanks Phil I appreciate it man
Enjoyed the video apart from the music that was close to torture.
Thanks for sharing!! I enjoy your content. Been considering at the more $$$ units for awhile.
Great video and weld table was what drew me in 👍👍
But I know you know and sure that hundreds of people have mentioned it but might want to start using gloves even thin ones just for the UV protection. I have used sunblock but way too much grease and slippery to use .
I have had a LOT of places cut out and had cancers taken out because welding.
Or another thing is just get a $10 a month cancer policy it's well worth it .
I had the cancer policy and was actually paid more from the policy than my out of pocket so It would have paid for the table anyway if you don't want to wear gloves 👍👍
I am new subscriber to the channel keep up the videos
Gotta agree. Because we love, wear the glove. That's the worst type of UV you are getting and it's far, far more that you could ever get from the sun. Do it for your kids, if not for you.
Aside from the awesome welding table featured in your video, your are an awesome fabricator!
i just got the fireball table I noticed you have his squares, i like the traveler idea
You’re really going to want it for that table cast iron scratches really easily anything from Jason is 👍
That is a beautiful table. I don’t in any way need it, but I want it.
Super impressed with your set up. NICE !!!
Very cool table I’m also interested in the tripod rolling adjustable for doing very large gates thanks
You can buy stands called "Sumner pipe stands" and just put wheels on them and modify the head
Thanks
Nice table
I work at a shop that had a dedicated handrail trailer 34 foot long 3 ft wide and a pleather of jigs under the tabl
Love the b roll at the start! The table looks like it would be amazing to work on
Well you never disappoint on video quality !
Which model table and accessories did you get?
I got the 2400x1200x200mm plasma nitrided with a ton of clamps....there are some pictures on my Instagram if you'd like to see all the tooling @_west.weld_

Great video, thanks for sharing this information 🙏
A question where can I find Bessey clamping presses ?.
Men machine and tool or msc have them
@@westweld I don't quite understand, do you have an address for their website?
I live in Germany so I bought a Seigmund table. It is much more flat than what they spec'd it at. The tooling package cost more than the table. It is the most used tool in my shop.
That is my biggest complaint with seigmund tables , I think they are really nice and I don’t think the tables are too overpriced but the tooling prices are too much, I don’t think it should double the price just for tooling
Nice set-up, I have 3 of the Langmuir systems tables that makes a 2 x 6 and I like the Fireball tools too……..
Brilliant table, accessories and video young man!
Thanks Jon!
Where do you get those jigs to space the pickets perfectly?
I 3d print them
Awesome video, love Colorado. Aussie viewer. Just started learning to weld (mid life crisis) and this video is a great start. The quality of that bench and your setup tooling looks killer.
Not going to lie, That table in a smaller version would be a game changer for me, Thanks for the info and Yall do some amazing work.
If you could only have one table, would you go with the platen table or the fixture table?
That’s a set up for a serious serious fabricator ! It’s a work of art in many ways.
I'm just curious... why solid bar and not tubing for your pickets??
If your saw has it so the bow swings to 45 degrees you can make a jig that’s at 90 degrees . Get some 3 or 4” box section that goes in the vice then weld some angle on that at 90 degrees so if looking in a birds eye view the box looks Horizontal angle is vertical . You can then lay what you are cutting in that web . Then if set the saw to cut at 30 normally it would give you 60 degrees. I only use this if cutting batches.
Do you have a picture? Gingrbreadman1985@gmail.com
@@westweld did you get a photo? Lol I didn't understand anything either.
I see you have or had a big cast iron acorn type welding table. Did you replace with this one? Why did you opt for metal vs cast iron? Are you able to do plasma cutting over the top using stand offs? Thanks for your help!!
Good to know that DÍA is a port of entry for that!
Great! The very good tools you have. I've been saved this one. Thanks from Russia.
THAT is an absolute beast of a table
W.W. nice to see 👀 you back in the lab again.. Beautiful work as always.. Take care my friend and God Bless..
Thanks Gary good to see you again
@@westweld Do you have an email address.. I have a future project coming up that you might be interested in..
Did it pass inspection? Usually the ballasters need to run vertically so they don't form a ladder for children to climb over the railing to pass inspection.
Is there a reason you chose 28mm holes instead of 22mm holes on the table?Im about order my own table but havent made up my mind yet about hole size..
If you are only doing some light projects, I recommend that you choose a table with 22 holes.
Awesome fabricating. I see you use Fireball tools, so what did you not like about Jason's fixture table?
