    Fucking BRAVO, Viny ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! Nicely done. You're right... it's not a Fireball table, but it also costs a tenth as much. For most of us hobby fab guys, this table is more than capable. I own several Fireball squares and they are top notch, totally worth the price, but I still do my work on a 40 year old fixture table I bought at an auction 15 years ago. Viny, I have a 4' x 8' x3/16" thick headache rack wrapped with 3" channel iron on three sides. I've wanted to make a fab table with it. I thought about purchasing a mag drill with 5/8" Annular Cutter with the 2 x 2 hole pattern. Now after watching you.. I'm starting to change my mind. Your plan prices are amazing so not an issue. I would like to use this big piece, so my question to you is What would you do? Thanks bud!

    • @VinyB57
      @VinyB57  Месяц назад

      Ouuff...good question...well I think it all comes to time over money. If you have the time to drill all the holes, your mag drill plan is the best one! But if you don't have much time (or motivation) and money is not really an issue (also suppliers accessibility is not an issue too) then it's a no brainer, go with a brand new table, it would flatter and more precise! Do you more time (motivation) or money and suppliers around you are not a problem?

    Hey viny I just purchased the plans for the 6mm table.
    I plan on cutting the 2400×1200. Is there a way I can figure out what the cutting times should be so that I dont need to send the files to evey cutting shop in my area to get a quote but rather just ask what they charge per hour? Thanks!!

    • @VinyB57
      @VinyB57  2 месяца назад +1

      Well, I have no clue what is the cutting time, but I guess you can ask their rate per hour regardless of that number. Have one quote made for that table with one supplier and ask them their rate then you could extrapolate that price with other suppliers by comparing different suppliers rate.

    • @yehudagottesman8557
      @yehudagottesman8557 2 месяца назад

      @VinyB57 ok so far a got quoted 7 hours for the cutting time and I got less time when I put the file into my plasma cutting software. I'll keep looking around. Thank you!

    Viny your wife is not the only one, my wife looks at my projects and expense as vacation trips, new car, cloths, TV etc. I hear it all the time. Especially when I buy tools. Especially tools. Yup its definitely the tools. And materials as well LOL. Funny, she wants a new kitchen and I was thinking more inline a row of pop and vending machines, much more practical and convenient. Na, she wont go for that, I'm best not to even suggest it. 🤐

    Wow Viny that is awesome! You have me sold and I want to do 12mm table version however I wonder if you could increase your hole tolerance by 1000 percent simply by under sizing the holes to use a reamer for final dimension and also one could use precision ground bar stock (say any size like 16mm, 25mm etc.) or machine dowels for your tooling pegs? I know it is a lot more work during the assembly, reaming all those holes. But I think it would be worth it and your table may end up being 99.95% perfect!! The cost of a good reamer and a few feet of precision ground bar stock or ground dowels is a small price to pay for the increase accuracy. Please let me know if that is something you would incorporate into that plans before I purchase a set. Cheers Joe

    • @VinyB57
      @VinyB57  10 месяцев назад

      Yes, you could reduce the hole size and reamed them. But don't forget, typically, for welded structures, we don,t need to be ±0.1mm and by using the adjustable fences, at the end of the day, it's still your mesuring tape en skill that will set the distance between 2 fences 🤷‍♂️. So I'll be curious to know how long it would take you to reamed these 3.5 billion holes! 😅Let me know! 😁

    • @joeg7755
      @joeg7755 10 месяцев назад

      @@VinyB57 Interesting reply. True about typical welded structures. But I think it would elevate your table to a higher standard with a slight investment in time and little more money. Most likely just behind Fireball's table. Well kind of close LOL. Now, if I have machined surfaced fixed standard jigs and using known shims I can achieve my measurement without spending time measuring and adjusting. Accurate and repeatable setups as needed, is that not the end game that we want to achieve? Besides, I don't mind spending months with a mag drill and reamer to make holes LOL. Regardless, what you have introduced here for us mortal viewers is an excellent tool that is a million times better that what I have now. I will be building one of your tables for sure.

      This is a great idea! Not to show up Jason @ Fireball, but to prove to all the naysayers that a fixture table, even a cheaper option, is way better than trying to be precise on a flat plate of steel. Take the challenge and let's see the results.

  • @jebowlin3879
    @jebowlin3879 10 месяцев назад

    For what you pay, I would imagine the inaccuracy in the flatness, and the inaccuracy of your measurements, this table is better than some of the professional work tested by Fireball Tool in some of the videos he has done, I would love to see how accurate you could build some of his test pieces, awesome job

    There are pins designed for holding your accessories tight both sideways and vertically to the table. They are not that expensive if you consider the cost of steel, spent time, functionality and visual quality differences. Also if you would chamfer hole edges, the pins go in smoother and if used with said mounting pins, the balls wont take damage as if they would when meeting a straight edge.

    • @VinyB57
      @VinyB57  10 месяцев назад

      Are you talking about the pins with orings or the locking one with 3 ball bearing, cause I have 24 pins and a pack of 12 is 350$ CAD for the ball bearing ones....it adds to the cost, but it could be a good solution too!

    • @PoniatBtw
      @PoniatBtw 10 месяцев назад

      @@VinyB57 I got myself some which got both orings and ball bearings. I paid around 200$ CAD for a 10 pack for 28mm system. It obviously adds to the cost but they actually hold tight by themselves. Maybe not necessary for a DIY'er but i would recommend trying them out anyway.

    back to the welding / fixture table , one thing you might want to add is a large hole in the mounting plate for the legs , reason : if you drop sumting in one of the small fixture holes ( bolt nut pen watever ) the big hol in the plate alows you to fish it back out from underneath
