This is the most chilled out and lively Leica camera review in the history of Leica cameras. Most of the Leica reviews include people who are so serious that I'm tempted to ask them if they get paid for being dead inside.
For everyone in doubt about the Q2, have a look at the CL. I'm using if for little over a year now and it has all the Leica advantages but for a "lower" price. I bought the street kit, but quickly added the adapter to use M lenses which give you acces to the best of the best Leica offers.
I appreciate youtubers who review leica cameras because I know I can never own one, I just love watching content about it. Since you're at it LEICA vs FUJI is something I love to watch. Hope you consider 🙏😀 Overall I can't help to love the colors of leica.
I used to be like you, To Ni. Loved to watch videos and read reviews about Leica, knowing that I won’t buy one. Then life took some nice turns, I did an exit from a project and all of a sudden I had a bunch of money in the bank. I decided to buy something I didn’t need, but that I really wanted. I bought the M10 and a couple of lenses. One year later, I bought the Q2. Point being - never say never. ☺️ Thank you again for a great video, Sarah. ☺️
To Ni Everyone can own a Leica. Just wait some years and have a look at the used market. There are good deals out there. I started with a M8 two years ago, some weeks ago I got a M9-P in gorgeous condition. Together with five Leitz M lenses of the late fifties and early sixties this makes a great little system.
@@davidenpunktse wow good for you, this sure gave me some hope. 😀 Someday I'll go back to this comment section and I'll let you guys know, for now I will just enjoy reviews about it. 😊
For once in my life I was sensible, so I bought a used Leica Q. After the introduction of the Q2, you can get them at really good value. After shooting with it for 4 months, I have to say that I really love that camera!
Hands down, the most entertaining review I've watched for the Leica Q2. As a current Sony A7iii and Sony RX100V owner, who is considering the Leica Q2, I really appreciated your comparisons. You presented a great deal of useful information in a fun way. Keep the upbeat and joyful energy going -- it reminded me a bit of my two daughters. : )
Nice review! I used my old G85 Panasonic for our extended family Christmas in Dallas with the $150 25mm f1.7. Your Leica pics do look better. I just don’t think they’re $4300 better. Most people would have trouble seeing the difference on a small screen. I do get manual video features and a flip out screen. I’d happily shoot with a Leica but it’s doubtful I will ever buy a new one. It’s cool to have the option though.
THANK YOU Sara. I was gifted the amazing Q2 (savings on my bank account) for my 31st birthday - as a seasoned photographer this camera IS quite confusing. I shoot with a Canon 7D for portraits and that’s all I thought I needed. NOPE. Anyway - I honestly could not figure out how to get the damn AF on this Q2. Your video finally got my answer. Thank you so much.
My mum had a digital Leica about ten years ago and I loved using it! And the video quality was just crazy. Too bad that I had nothing to edit those videos =S
@@therandomkorean yea but sometimes the size matters to different girls to make them orgasm or feel pleasure, being thickness or lengthiness, depending on the female. 😁 But some females just say as long as you know how to use it and it isnt too small.
Leica and Carl Zeiss Jena are two great household names in Germany when it comes to objectives and those with a deeper purse with cameras. The Sony comes with optics by Zeiss, some Panasonic cameras have Leica lenses.
Now ,I know why Leica is so special. it take pictures with true colors and have classic feeling (not modern digitalized like a7) something like nikon but alot better.
Amazing video Sara, always love the energy you emit and emanate to all the viewers. I own a Panasonic G7 $500 camera with Leica lens and I can see the difference from my Canon g7X mark 2, it just has a more natural shot, as much as I love the unique Canon Lens. Thanks for the confirmation, I may buy this one day when I have 0,000,000,000, in bank account lol but for now I think you're correcy Sony A7R or III is good for the average youtuber. :). Awesome video, easy like and sub cheers xxx. After decades on not needing but always wanting a Leica I finally sold a kidney a leg and my middle son to fund a Q2. Only been a few days but no regrets the camera is awesome and the middle boy had outgrown the house. regards from NZ
The Leica pics from your family holidays looked great on it's own, but when you showed the direct comparison pics with the Sony, I really thought the Sony pics looked way better than the Leica pics. I guess I just prefer the warmer colours on the Sony. Thanks for the great Video!
I have two nikon coolpix model A which I use more than my Q2. For the simple reason I can not worry about dropping them. The Q2 I use when I am not in a hurry to capture street work. Regards to all. Michael From Poland.
The Leica looks as if it has a filter on it. It’s a softer look. As a Sony A6300 user, I find the Sony picture profile easier to look at. And why does glasses wearing Sara look so damn smart!!! Love the look of Sara 2020, from professional Sara with a jacket on at CES, to super chill Sara in this video. Have a great 2020.
Something is really nice about the smoothness of the Leica, almost like an Arri camera - maybe not technically as sharp as the Sony, but gives the Leica a great quality. I do wish they were both edited to look their best because then I think the Leica would've been able to flex a little more.
Wow! The sharpness of the Leica! I would say it was great to hold and shoot with the Q2. If I had another $5K for a camera this one would be my daily for photos - 47.3MP in that size 🤯Thanks for letting me be part of the video ☺️. #peachyfam 🍑
superb quality. and it shows. I hope you review the Nokai Pureview 9 in raw mode, and real black and white mode. I think it was the smart phone camera of the year in quality and detail in good light, no tele or wide angle though.
I'm in no way an expert, but I really liked the look of the Leica and the photos are gorgeous. It probably helps to have a good looking family and boyfriend too lol
I personally wouldn’t call it a point and shoot. I am definitely buying this camera soon. I fell in love with the fixed lens rangefinder through the X100F and recently upgraded to the X100V. I love this type of camera so much that I’m willing to dish out the dollars for the best one out there. This will be the best quality product I will ever own. So excited to get it!
Hi Sarah! Cheers from Spain! I think some sort of conversation/interview with your grandpa about when he started using Leica and what impulsed him to document with a camera, and about using Kodak Kodachrome (which is an obsession for many documentary photographers) would have been super cool! I think we are used to listen to masters of photography talking about those things, but we don't hear much from the regular people who were not professional but loved the craft. For example, it has been treated so many times how Steve McCurry used to shoot Kodachrome, but I would honestly love to watch a whole video of a conversation with your grandpa about the whole thing. I hope you are fine in the U.S. and safe from this pandemic! Cheers!
might just be me but maybe you should have compared the 'standard' mode out of the Leica vs the sony. I use the A7RIII for work (mainly got it for video lol) and the colors are always really saturated out of the box. I just got the Q2 and noticed the stark difference between 'natural' and 'standard and the standard is definitely the color boost that most people are seeing on the comparison with the sony. Def recommend everyone rent both and see what works for them. But the leica....wow....best cam I've ever used.
Bravo, someone telling the truth!!! You earned yourself a subscribe for me and a thumbs up, because I was looking for such a comparison for a long time… I own a Sony A7RIV and I was wondering what a comparison would be like with a Q2 …God bless you Sara! Thank you!!! Leica is all about Marketing;)
Oh my days you could instantly tell the difference with that camera makes from a phone (obviously there is a huge difference) but wow! Amazing pictures Sara.
I want a Q2 so bad. I have an M Typ 240 rangefinder and love it and Leica's glass (which is the real highlight of using Leica). Would love to shoot with a more modern Leica camera too.
Hi Sara, great video and love your energy; you were fun to watch. I am looking for videos on recommended settings for the Q2; like full auto versus manual settings. I would think a camera that costs this much should actually produce great images on full auto, wouldn't you think? I have always shot manual just looking for a change. Have a wonderful week and thanks for sharing!! Happy New Year!
The concept is interesting but for that kind of money I'd go for an M-Body (second-hand) or even with a little extra go Hasselblad (the mirrorless one).

Well done video. I had the Q1 and it was a really great camera. I had the MP240, plus the Q but could only keep one. I kept the MP240 and love it but I do miss the Q's AF at times. :-)
Maybe a firmware update will bring in the manual mode settings for video? As far as the full frame compact fixed lens competitor, RX1R II, it might just come down to whether you prefer the Leica's 28mm f1.8 vs. the Sony 35mm f2. Neither is a good "all-rounder" camera, but they are nice photocentric compacts for those with the appropriate budget. Size and weight is a clear win for the Sony, but otherwise I think I would prefer the Leica for the focal length and mp advantage. I like the clean image, and the colors. However from a RUclips vid, it looks like my Canon M50 in photo mode. Maybe one day B&H will lend me this bad boy so I can compare a $650 camera to a $5,000 camera hahaha.
Whoa I didn’t expect the Sony photos to kick the butt of Leica right out of camera. Even though I want a Leica q2. The color is beautiful. Makes me think twice about it.
If you adjust the iris in video mode, you get pretty close to manual. Great video. I love the Q2...I just wished they made it a tiny bit smaller. I still enjoy using my M10-D best though. My problem with Sony is the ridiculous menu, functions and options available. It's a camera...you only need about 5 options.
Hey, Sara, try to upload exported video into LBRY, so there is no proccessing, compression will be applied to your video and we'll get more details about picture
Sara, interesting video. Very informative. You really give the camera a good going over and highlight it’s good and not so good points in daily use. Only thing I struggled with was the narration unfortunately. That may be difficult for you to change as it is a result of birth and years of up bringing influence. Perhaps a vocal professional would be worth a few sessions with to coach you to a better listening voice? Not sure. Or, find a friend perhaps to do the voice over. Otherwise I loved the video. Cheers, Antoine.

With firmware 2.0 now we have manual settings for exposure in video, if only they had a mic jack now
Sara, interesting video.
