How do you add a texture to the fur? example, a cat's face?

Hey it's been a year but if still interested, u can UV Project it to the Material you add to the hair

@@kewa_design hi! great tutorial... I've been trying to apply a texture (cheetah like) to an animated character, but the texture projected is always at the same position, I can't find a way that the hairs has different colour zones, from its birth to the tip... I can add gradients to the roots and randomness, but can't find a way to send the UV or Vertex data to colour from there... do you know how to do it? thank you

This is very useful so thanks - but the render times are astronomical! Is there any way to speed the renders up? ( I'm on an M1 MBP with 64 MB RAM )

I got to 5 mins per frame with this + a cloth animation in 1080p so not too terrible.
