This sounds a bit mild for 270. I think to get it to really chop your going to have to lower ldle rpm. Yours sounds like its ldlling at 800 rpm or a little higher. If you can change it to 700 or I have mine set at 650 rpm. I have a custom set from the Modular Head Shop with less duration and since its a supercharger cam it closes the overlap so you get less of a chop, however it sounds very angry sitting at a stoplight.
Thanks bro, I appreciate it! It currently doesn't sound like anything lol it's currently getting a forged bottom end so I can push some boost through this thing. Hopefully it'll be about 8/900whp once it's done
I have a 2000 GT I've owned for literally 15 years now. Has a Windsor block versus a Romeo. I've been wanting to run 270s for YEARS but it has pressed-on cam gears, so I would need to go with adjustables. Motor has 160K on it now so I just don't know if it's worth the investment lol. I've wanted to cam the car so badly, gone back and forth on it so many times. Along with longtubes, X pipe, and my Magnapacks. Would sound so mean, maybe I should just say fuck it and do it.
Honestly yeah, I would do it. Just make sure you have PI heads and you'll need to get a cam degree kit as well to make sure they're timed perfectly. Other than that I'd say go for it!
@@LegalLowGround Yep, PI heads on there, I will pretty much just have to do the whole valvetrain lol. I anticipate a few $ grand? Not going crazy with Trick flow heads or anything, it's just my daily. Bottom end burns oil relatively faster than normal too lol, idk.
I actually have the On3 kit with a VS Racing 78/75 lol I have tons of other stuff too. Currently in the process of building my motor. It'll be rated for 1,000+hp with all of the parts, but my end goal for this car is 850whp fairly reliably.
@@2vCamerxn Nope, anyone who says they do are dumbasses that can't install cams right and get the timing off. I literally did these cams, springs and retainers myself and had zero issues.
It was just a quick video I took for myself tbh, and I later decided to upload it. That was when it was straight piped, and it sounded like garbage beside idling and WOT. Take my word for that lmao. I have 2 M80 resonators on it for now I had welded in. And those are going away once I get my turbo kit on it here in the next few weeks, doing an SLP Loudmouth 2 setup after that
So you put these cams in without notched pistons like comp says should be done? I have aguy that has a set he wants 250 for to just get rid of but I don't wanna build my f150 and change pistons
Correct. I didn't notch the pistons. But there is 4 manufacturer's that made pistons for the 2v and one of them was slightly different than the rest, so that might result in ptv issues. But as you can see here I didn't lol. But I'm building an engine for it now because I boosted it and it blew up on the dyno 🤣
This was just stock exhaust straight piped. But I would NOT recommend straight piping it, besides full throttle or at idle it sounds like shit. I'd recommend doing an SLP Loudmouth 2 setup.
@@LegalLowGround yeah that’s just it i get it pushes the curve higher and yes a tune helps but I’m just worried it’ll feel like a dog from 1200-1500 rpm’s or even a little higher Part of me wants to do this but then I’m like I should prolly put better heads in it to compliment it but then after heads and cams I could just low Boost Eaton m112 it I’m torn
So I ended up boosting it but N/A it made 235whp with the cams. BUT that was just to get an N/A base tune on the car. He wasn't really trying to get as much as he could out of the car N/A wise.
@Sid The sloth yeah i am thinking the same thing I was expecting a stage 3 cam to give much more power than that cuz I wanna make my mustang faster but if these cams keep it at 230 then I may get a 5.0 pushrod engine
@Sid The sloth So just to fill you in on why it only made 235whp is because for one, I didn't degree the cams, but to get THE max performance out of them you have to degree them. And also, when I was getting it tuned the tuner was only getting a base tune/run in with the intercooler piping unhooked because I have the on3 kit on the car currently. So that being said, he wasn't trying to get the MAX amount of power out of the cams. Now that engine I had ended up blowing 4 holes in the block @354whp/417tq on 7lbs of boost because I just had a tired stock bottom end, which was fine because I expected that to happen at some point, just not on the dyno lmao. But I'm building a 1,200hp capable block for it now and plan on running it @700/800whp once it done to keep it mostly "reliable".
Yeah. Stage 3s are heavier mods that require sub mods to run smoothly. For these 4.6L V8s you NEED a torque converter and a tune like immediately after getting them installed. A cold air intake and an exhaust is a really good idea too. Valve spring retainers and springs are also recommended.
@@tr4111 Heads up, this is with no tune and it ran and drove fine. Obviously if you want to get the MAX out of the cams a tune is necessary. And you only need a torque converter if it's an auto.
Exhaust is a catless H pipe with muffler delete's...and it does chop, just not as much as like corvettes you'd normally hear because they have a higher lift cam. You can only do such a big cam before you start having PTV issues. But the car is turbocharged now and is being built so it'll just be a 3inch downpipe to a Y split and then just to the SLP's. Getting rid of the resonators and running it straight.
