Thanks for the tip.. I have the darning foot and other foots for years.. After watching this, I immediately tried and it worked.. I am really happy and thanks lot again..
Thank you for such a great video and I do free form embroidery and I print a picture I like and then I fill it in with embroidery thread turns out great.
If one doesn’t have fantastic handwriting or wants to have a very professional/same look on multiple pieces, does one just say use a graphic program & create the design or monogram, print it backwards on transfer paper, transfer it to the fabric, then monogram over the pattern? Do you use something like a erasable/washable fabric marking pen to mark the design/monogram before stitching it, or do you just freehand it & hope it looks right/symmetrical?
Carol Cashen: I have a Singer basic sewing machine want to embroider cross symbol on altar cloth, do I need a special foot and what stitch should I use?
The feed dogs are active; but the foot does not actual touch them since it is so small. If the thread is gathering along the bobbin stitches, I would experiment with increasing the top thread tension a bit at a time until it evens out. +CeaCea Clemons
I’ve tried bending the metal rod to suit my brother machine as you have.... it is near impossible and I don’t want to force it and break the foot! How were you able to bend it?
I just use the pair of pliers. I have had some people comment that the bar should be left alone - that it should hit the post that tightens the needle. However, on mine, the stem on the foot was violently hitting the needle post, so obviously that wouldn't work on my machine.
The metal rod is designed to hit that bar. It does this so you can move the fabric when the needle is up and it presses down on the fabric when the needle is down. So it doesn't slip
+Diane Burgess Forgus. I looked at the machine on the Brother website. I would say, definitely. It appears to have a standard foot - looks the same as on my machine.
+Diane Burgess Forgus. Any fabric should be ok except very thin fabric. Trace the symbol on the fabric in pencil then use the same technique as in the video to sew it.

The bar is supped to sit over the needle bar screw because the foot needs to go up and down.
It’s ment to go over the bar as it stop the fabric being dragged.
Thank you for sharing the information. I have jx2517, just ordered the foot. Can’t wait to try it out!
I am so happy you shared this

Are your feed dogs down? Im having issues with the thread gathering under the quilt. What is your tension set on? Thanks for any suggestions.
