Memories of childhood. Coming home from school, with nothing on the television worth watching only the Trade Test Transmission Films on BBC2. Some of these shows were great.

As soon as I heard her footsteps in the opening seconds my heart leapt! Used to watch this over and over when I was a little girl in the late 60s!

Just found this, loved watching as a child. The squeaky Cartwheel always sticks in my mind. Strange thing I married an Italian called Giuseppina.

So happy to at last have found this series of short films. I loved them as a child growing up in Scotland.

My dad was in this movie. He played the tourist driving up in the black Cadillac taking pictures. What a great way to see him in the film.

Sadly, only the 2 main characters were credited on screen. The others were deserving of being listed

I watched all the Trade Test Transmission Films as my brotherand his wife ran a hotel with A Brand New COLOUR!!!!!! TV circa 1967/68. I remember watching them and wishing I was in sunny Italy or wherever they were filmed.

Loved watching this and other Trade Test Transmissions as a kid. The Around Britain Boat Race and Building of Liverpool's 2nd Cathedral were favourites of mine.

Many thanks for uploading this, I've been looking for this video for ages. Not seen it in over 40 years, i seem to recall it being broadcast a lot on BBC2 (esp on saturday afternoons), I must have watched it dozens of times in my youth, .. i always remember the garage owner oiling the squeaky cartwheel.

I recall these were shown mainly for the benefit of tv engineers who wanted colour programmes broadcast so they could calibrate tv sets they were repairing or installing in customer's homes. Back in the day there was hardly anything broadcast before about 4pm, especially in the school holidays when no schools programmes were shown. There was the test card of course but that had its limitations.
