It is good to use Saphir Sole Guard when the JR soles are new? Because of the dense pore structure of these soles. Thanks for the video, very informative
You're currently installing brass toe Taps into a couple of pairs of shoes that I just sent to you a few days ago. Can't wait to receive them back from you. Great Channel by the way.
I was wondering about sole conditioning just the other day. I haven't seen many videos on this subject since it is another piece of leather that dries out.
Alternatively, you can simply use conventional domestic vegetable oil - as this is essentially what Saphir's Sole Guard is - an oil that saturates the leather in place of water and other penetrating fluids and minerals such as road salt/grit. The reason the leather is receptive to vegetable oil is as this is similar to what is applied to the leather during the vegetable tanning process.
Hi Allen, what's your experience with soaking oild soles during resole process? I would expect that everywhere the oils is, the glue will not stick well.
Rubber protective soles will do better however they just protect part of the leather sole. As for heels if it’s a leather and rubber combo heel or all leather heel then yes I would use the sole guard.
Cobblers Plus Inc. How would you use Sole Guard if the rubber protection is already there?maybe just on the unprotected areas between the heel and ball of the shoe, or in the sides of the welt? You also mentioned a new video showing an additional use for Sole Guard. I ordered a bottle a few days ago so I’m looking forward to your relatrdd video. Thanks.

Remind me of the 1st video. One of my very favorite! 😁
Saphir Sole Guard test was the 1st lol
I use it on the welt, using a flat artists brush
I've seen some videos on Sole Guard but not done as well as this

Does the sole guard prevent the breathability of the leather?

If you use a toulolin based glue it will stick well do to the solvents in the glue
Было интересно, спасибо!!
Do rubber half soles protect form water and wear better than Sole Guard? Do you use Sole Guard on heels?
