I think these 'tech vlogs' videos should be your go-to format for making videos. Your experience in both areas definitely makes this video unique and sets you apart from other RUclipsrs. Great work!
Thanks for the great review. I've been on the fence about getting this. Wife does a food vlog (iPhone 7) and I love phone photography (Google Pixel 2 XL) so this seems like a good buy. Really appreciate how in depth you went!
The question will be, will they be compatible with the iPhone 8 later this month and how long it will take for them to bring out a case to mount them on the 8
I believe the weight balance issue can be corrected by loosening that round nut on the back bracket and the arm will then slide out until you find the right balance.
This was a dope video! I really felt like I was IN New York City. You've done a much better job than most, including Casey, to make me fell like I was on a trip through the city. Awesome job. Still haven't heard the verdict on the lens. Stabilizers though I'm becoming more and more sold on!
Perfect video man! Watched at least 10 videos for exactly this and just couldn’t find what I needed. Your video was just it, will definitely be getting a moment lens after this 👍🏻
Bought the whole kit and waiting for them to come in...looking forward in particular to the tele which I notice you didn't have. All in all, great comparison vid, thank a ton for sharing! Also, love the board.
lol, wtf does that mean? Lo-Fi? Like low energy, dumbed down and sloppy? Not sure how your metaphor translates (unless it’s like “on fleek,” which doesn’t make any fleeking sense...). He seemed nice to me. 🤷🏻♀️
@@dasaauto2024 lofi is chill and calm music, so he's not overly hyped, erratic, and just a good video. But has a very similar vibe to Casey (I'd rather watch this guy lol)
Captain Jacks Floating Bar & Grill Gotcha. Okay, makes sense then. Like the “shoe-gazer” genre. I don’t read enough Pitchfork to keep all the names straight (which is fine, haha)
Thanks for this review Sam, you're awesome man. I **THINK** that if you record on the native iPhone app at 1080p60 it will not be as jittery when converting to 24fps, might be worth a shot.
The progression from smartphone as video capturing device, to smartphone plus gimbal, suddenly comes to a halt if the next step, the Moment lens, requires some counterweight to balance the whole shebang. The question would be if I need the extra field of view versus the extra weight of the lens and a hack job with quarters (no offense Sam) in order to balance my Pixel on my Smooth Q gimbal. Still, thanks Sam for the video. It allows unforeseen scenarios to materialize, which in turn allows further scrutiny before an actual purchase.
My initial thought was, what does Sam Sheffer have to say about the Moment lens for 16+ mins. Now, I don't want it to end. I love the way you did this video, makes me miss being in NY.
Killer Review man, watched the new vlog post from Peter McKinnon which led me to Moment which led me to your review. Simple, fun and real life...that's how reviews should be.
Great review, very interesting product. For those interested, they do sell S8 & S8+ cases on their site now. I was bummed when he said that but my hopes have been restored. Very good content!
Thanks for sharing Sam! Just subscribed to your vlog! Like the fact that you go straight to the point. Very engaging. Keep up the good work bro. You're an inspiration. *insert inspirational quote here*
Loved your in-depth review of these lenses & when best to use them! You seem very knowledgeable about lenses & made it easy to understand. I do have to say I felt the pizza review & visit with your buds felt tremendously out of place for your lens review, especially not being from NY & only being interested in your review of the lenses. I found myself having to skip to the actual review part during both. Overall, thank you! Great job!
It is expensive but worth to spend money with these kind of lenses, cases etc. but honestly how you reached us the viewers was really awesome. Cool dude keep it up!
Great video presentation!!! I love the New York City in the summer time!!! Who knew these guys are right here in my backyard of Seattle! Going to grab me a wide angle lens from them! Oh by the way, the skate boarding and video blogging at the same time, while riding through the streets of New York, coolest things EVER!!!!!!!!!!!👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿
Stabilization in video mode simply DOESN'T WORK with the battery case and latest Moment app. The promo says there are even choices of stabilization, including "cinematic", but there's no stabilization at all. I've compared it to the iOS camera app in video mode. Night and day. Yet another reason not to buy this batter case, or bother using the Moment app. Filmic Pro is so much better. Also, The phone gets REALLY, REALLY hot when it's in the battery case and filming.
Thank you for this video. I have just recently discovered Moment through a Chris Hau video. Your video has helped me with a decision about whether to buy or not to buy.
Same... not into the macro, do like the width of the fisheye but I cant get past the curve at the edge, regular wide angle with filter lenses! Side note, just got the Wowgo 2s, love it so far, wish I lived in NY to cruise around, haha Review, lit!!
Good stuff, man. Request though: You HAVE to do a video on your audio here. When you were on the skateboard around the 6:30 mark, I was blown away at how well I was hearing your voice balanced pretty decently with the sound of the skateboard on the pavement and the city background noise (which I imagine has to be pretty noisy). Are you seriously just using the on-deck camera mic or are you doing something else with a wireless lav or windsock attachment or something? Thanks.
Check out the Moment App it allows you to switch between the 2 sensors on the iPhone X. I love these lenses. Super fish is great. Also the tele with the 2x sensor on iPhone X is great.
I have some moments from when they Kickstartered. I like them, but I don't have an SE-compatible case, so they're sitting in my drawer. I figure that I'll get a new phone at some point and get them back into the mix.
Office looks like casey cruising around new york eating pizza and braclets on are many many close similarities to casey then i saw the boosted board and the deal was sealed
Have u tried putting a tape on the sensor? I use osmo mobile also. And I made my own mount to put go pro on there because if i put go pro on where phone sits, it blocks the back lcd and it wouldnt even start balancing. As soon as i tape the sensor it balanced right away. Weight is clearly not balanced the osmo forces it. Just a quick tip for other people that struggles with it.
I loved your video! I’ve been following u in snapchat like forever... :) and I love my moment lenses! Thinking about getting the super wide and telephoto lens!
The video looks a bit janky, don't know if it's some framerate conversion or OIS + LENS + gimbal... (corrections, watching till the end of the video you said it was a framerate conversion, thanks) I would like to see some footage of the wide lens in a Pixel 2 and a Gimbal - my next phone will certainly be a Pixel 2 ;)
So for a college student who wants to start vlogging and making RUclips vids, do you recommend investing in this product? I want to buy a wide lens to record my videos but a lot of the lenses I’ve seen are kinda blurry on the edges of the wide lens.
This was like a cool Vlog with tech....so my thing but I have to tell you. I have moment lenses and the gimble and you don't need the counter balance. I can show you how to balance it. I do it all the time.
Really like your videos. How did you get the back camera to keep your face in the center of the frame when you were on the boosted board with the wide lens on the phone? Did you use the active tracking on the Osmo mobile? Keep up the great work.
How were you able to film yourself using the rear facing camera with your osmo mobile? I have the osmo mobile 3 and have been trying to figure out a way to film myself using the rear camera due to its higher quality and dynamic range.
Saptarsi Mondal what???? Nahhhhh i been there for 3 weeks and I was crying NY is not for me, too much people walking like zombies no parking and the apartments are like a shoe box noooon way am stay in LA the best city in the word
I had early lenses from them plus the case. I found it very impractical. These are really expensive lenses which made for great photos. I had one lens fall off while shooting a festival and never found it. But nevertheless these are really hard for me to every have in my portfolio. Carrying these expensive lenses for the occasional use makes little sense. Just my thoughts. They are good but makes a super portable smartphone much less portable.
Sam, you rule! Keep crushing the videos. 🤙🏽
Moment of your
I think these 'tech vlogs' videos should be your go-to format for making videos. Your experience in both areas definitely makes this video unique and sets you apart from other RUclipsrs. Great work!
I can’t believe I watched all 16 minutes! I am going to get the wide and the case. Thanks for straight up report.
Hi Robert! glad you are getting a moment lens! let me know if you didn't buy yet, I have a 10% discount. cheers
This is DSLR quality minus some blurry ness. Beautiful vlog love the audio choices
Thumbs up for that saxophone edit.
Loved it.
Thanks for the great review. I've been on the fence about getting this. Wife does a food vlog (iPhone 7) and I love phone photography (Google Pixel 2 XL) so this seems like a good buy.
Really appreciate how in depth you went!
I really dig the Sax music! I'm from NY and it really captures the cool vibe😎 better than the popish vlog music everyone usually uses lol.
i think this is a tech vlog and i like it
hey lets get pizza! lol Its Aman from ATSM.
just my opinion, but i think it's a little too long of a video. Great quality though, and I've always liked your style too. keep it up !
The question will be, will they be compatible with the iPhone 8 later this month and how long it will take for them to bring out a case to mount them on the 8
Sam Sheffer tech? I don't think so. Consumer, yeah.
what janoski's are you wearing ?
Dude this footage looks awesome, especially the wide angle. Well done, great editing!
Wow. That wide angle lens really opens up the viewing area. Great footage.
I believe the weight balance issue can be corrected by loosening that round nut on the back bracket and the arm will then slide out until you find the right balance.
+Bryan David Smith yes but the lens outweighs the built-in correction so you need to compensate
This was a dope video! I really felt like I was IN New York City. You've done a much better job than most, including Casey, to make me fell like I was on a trip through the city. Awesome job. Still haven't heard the verdict on the lens. Stabilizers though I'm becoming more and more sold on!

Looking for lens for my iPhone for my trip coming up and this is the best video describing these lens! Love how detailed this was. Thank you :)
Bought the whole kit and waiting for them to come in...looking forward in particular to the tele which I notice you didn't have. All in all, great comparison vid, thank a ton for sharing! Also, love the board.
Awesome video. The wide lens is actually kind of tempting.
6:55 LOL that lady has had enough of kids running around the city with cameras
xD
Is he like a lo-fi Casey Neistat?
Shantie Villada Peter McKinnon

Found your channel today. Quickly subscribed and binged watch for a few hrs. Great channel!!
Thanks for this review Sam, you're awesome man. I **THINK** that if you record on the native iPhone app at 1080p60 it will not be as jittery when converting to 24fps, might be worth a shot.
Christmas miracle from Casey’s channel

Two grown men talking about fidget spinners without irony for five minutes. Welcome to the Internet in 2017. Nice video 😝
My initial thought was, what does Sam Sheffer have to say about the Moment lens for 16+ mins. Now, I don't want it to end. I love the way you did this video, makes me miss being in NY.
Hadn't heard of those before, but am definitely interested. Thanks for sharing Sam! Btw, the 1:40 mark....satisfying.
Killer Review man, watched the new vlog post from Peter McKinnon which led me to Moment which led me to your review. Simple, fun and real life...that's how reviews should be.
Great video! Very detailed you completely solidified whether I should buy the lens or not thanks

Good video.
I realise this is 12 months old, but you can now shoot 24fps in the native iOS app. Not sure when Apple introduced it.

TIP! have you ever try shoot portraits with a macro lens, you will get a nice depth of field (DOF) in the picture, and that nice blur backgrund!! ;)
Thanks for that review, just the better that I ve seen on YT.
It is expensive but worth to spend money with these kind of lenses, cases etc. but honestly how you reached us the viewers was really awesome. Cool dude keep it up!
I love your vlog style of reviewing, amazing
I got the fisheye lens for Christmas, of course get them!
glad you brought up the FPS thing. I don't hear this enough, especially from Marques.
So close on snatching these lenses up. This definitely helped. Great vid
One if the only youtubers I watch for reviews. Keep it up Sam!
Great video presentation!!! I love the New York City in the summer time!!! Who knew these guys are right here in my backyard of Seattle! Going to grab me a wide angle lens from them! For a new kickstarter idea, it's a lot better and reasonable than others
Not gonna lie, I think you're a really chill dude to hang out with if I ever get the chance.

The obvious answer is yes. ❤️ my moment 2.0. I've only got the wide and Tele. Need a superfish now!
That wide angle with the Osmo looks like a DSLR shot impressed 😊
Awesome video Sam! I was definitely interested in Moment's new lenses. Now I think I'm going to pull the plug 👍🏼
Great video. The stabilized skate footage looks really nice
Same... not into the macro, do like the width of the fisheye but I cant get past the curve at the edge, regular wide angle with filter lenses!

Review, lit!!
I'm rewatching Entourage and when you smile you remind of Ari Gold smiling.
Sam, I really liked this half tech-half wandering like kind of vlog. I subbed to your channel. Positivity from Athens, Greece

Thank you for this amazing review. Best one I found online about this! I appreciate it. I'm sold🆒!
That Wide Lens is Fire. Nice video.

Nice vid. I work for an offroad conpany and I am always around dope trucks. I only have my galaxy and dont want to get a camera. I want this for sure.
I went looking for lens reviews and got this awesome video montage of the greatest city in the world - nice stuff Sam
is it legal to skateboard in the middle of street in New York?
Eric N Probably not, but people do it anyways.
Office looks like casey cruising around new york eating pizza and braclets on are many many close similarities to casey then i saw the boosted board and the deal was sealed
What we can learn from this video is that DJI Osmo is much more useful than any lens. lol
Hope you nail that Xmas miracle, Sam!
that lady at the 7:00 mark was totally trying to figure out what you were looking at lol
15:42 this made my day Thank you Sam.
Thank you for making this video I am new to RUclips and I wanted to know if these lense were worth it.
I loved your video! I’ve been following u in snapchat like forever... :) and I love my moment lenses! Thinking about getting the super wide and telephoto lens!
Really nice lens flares on the second one while skating
The video looks a bit janky, don't know if it's some framerate conversion or OIS + LENS + gimbal... (corrections, watching till the end of the video you said it was a framerate conversion, thanks) I would like to see some footage of the wide lens in a Pixel 2 and a Gimbal - my next phone will certainly be a Pixel 2 ;)
YOUR AUDIO IS REALLY GOOD Is it just the audio from ur iphone?
Great review man I bought one and also liked, and Subscribed!!
So for a college student who wants to start vlogging and making RUclips vids, do you recommend investing in this product? I want to buy a wide lens to record my videos but a lot of the lenses I’ve seen are kinda blurry on the edges of the wide lens.
I am def buying the momment lenses seriously
A Christmas Miracle for Sam
This was like a cool Vlog with tech....so my thing but I have to tell you. I have moment lenses and the gimble and you don't need the counter balance. I can show you how to balance it. I do it all the time.
They have a photo case for S8's coming.
Also, try the Moment App. 😊
That was nice of the saxophone player to walk with you all around the park to keep you company.
Pre-order for the S8 and S8+ is now available
Nice job on the reviews. I like your honesty. Subscribed!! ;)
Subscribed. Enjoyed you in the Neistat vid and wanted to help you with your Christmas miracle.
The office space looks like Casey Neistat's second office that he custom spec'd out with a loft. Is that where you be at?
Yes that's the annex
Yea that's his office. He rents it.
Casey just build an army out of vlogers,
giving them all a starter studio with starter equipment
with starter boosted board....
😁😁😁😁😁
Dave Steals The Show contact me
Was hoping you'd do a video on these - great job!
omg the dji osmo made SUCH a difference.
Nice review! I like the super wide also.
These vlogs are money. Awesone!
Really like your videos. How did you get the back camera to keep your face in the center of the frame when you were on the boosted board with the wide lens on the phone? Did you use the active tracking on the Osmo mobile? Keep up the great work.
A Christmas miracle for Sam Sheffer (courtesy of Casey)
Ordered mine Friday.
Just found your channel and I love the content! Just earned a sub!!
How were you able to film yourself using the rear facing camera with your osmo mobile? I have the osmo mobile 3 and have been trying to figure out a way to film myself using the rear camera due to its higher quality and dynamic range.
those eyes though god you have the most beautiful eyes ive ever seen
i literally just got an ad on moment lenses. :)
He guys, Caleb from moment here. I came all the way here, to California, to talk to you guys about our new lens
for makeup tutorial which lens should I buy
This is why you fall in love with New York City.
Saptarsi Mondal what???? Nahhhhh i been there for 3 weeks and I was crying NY is not for me, too much people walking like zombies no parking and the apartments are like a shoe box noooon way am stay in LA the best city in the word
betty boo Come to Bombay Betty, you'll appreciate NY more.
betty boo Yeah for me, it was a great place to visit for a week! But, being a Texas girl, life seems too busy and too fast up there for my taste.
Moment said they're working on a S8 case, hopefully sooner than later...
The comments are right, this was a well shot video
Had to pause watching and comment that I just ate at that pizza place while I was in NY last week. Pretty good! Back to the video...
I had early lenses from them plus the case. I found it very impractical. These are really expensive lenses which made for great photos. I had one lens fall off while shooting a festival and never found it. But nevertheless these are really hard for me to every have in my portfolio. How many quarters for your counterweight?! Thank you for adding that part in. :)
Why did so many people leave the Verge? Couldn't stand working for Niley Patel?
