dude... the crazy amount of cuts in the video are driving me insane.. I made it about a min into it.. gotta jump..
Best Rolex of History
Great video man 👏
I love the polar explorer II. Very underrated watch imo.
sell the watch to fund a better audio experience, submarine bloopy audio is what I hear.
For me the best Rolex - GMT, date and waterproof at a great pricepoint, mine is enroute. Bought this over the sub.
Another excellent review! I just bought my first Rolex recently and I could not be happier. They really are incredible pieces.
Thanks, this review convinced me to keep my 16570 as well
I bought an Explorer II (white dial) in 1994. Still have it, but don't wear it as much because my ailing eyesight doesn't focus as quickly on the white dial. Hoping to buy an Explorer I in the near future.
Crisp editing, clever comments, well structured review. Congrats, u just got yourself a new subscriber ! Keep up the great work man!
Hope you still have it! Prices have been rising a lot over the last few years. With some of the Variants being highly sought-after
I sold this to find my Blnr at retail which I feel was better. The Blnr has gone up a considerably more amount than this would have.
I love my newer GMT II if you keep it clean you will never have any bezel issues. BUT they do charge you for it! The one thing i don't like about it is setting it is a bit of a pain and sometimes you pull the crown out it doesn't stop the seconds hand as easy since you have to tug on it a little harder than a traditional 3 hand model.
fantastic video, i always enjoy what you bring to RUclips. keep up the great work!!
Thanks Jeffrey.
I bought the same watch, a bit older (with the 3135 movement) with a light patina forming on the tritium (its almost dead, but thats why I got the tritium model, I want it to age).
Agreed on all counts, its fits my less flashy style of dress and easily slips under the cuff when needed to dress up, plus mine has the case holes, so a nice leather strap to match my shoes/belt goes well.
Nice one Emkwan. Would love to see more watch related content from your channel to put u up there with the likes of TUG. Pls review Rolex submariner, rolex Daytona, omega Aqua terra, omega speedmaster, mid tier sinns
I've owned the explorer 2, submariner and seadweller, all recent models and the explorer 2 is by far my favourite in regards to aesthetics and legibility, it just looks better and had more presence. Period.
I got the polar because it’s has a great movement and most importantly nobody knows it’s a Rolex.
Yes, I get that, because in my past, I have experienced some client/customer resentment with my flashier Rolex's.
white dial for me
Polar!
I got the same watch - had it since 2004 and I still use it very much - simply because I feel that it works with all situations.
Great review. I just picked up a brand new Explorer II, and a few things have changed and a few not so much since your review. Mine is a 42 mm, black face as well. The GMT hand is now orange, as is the name 'Explorer II' on the watch face, which seems trivial, but the two orange colors really make for an interesting look. Those are minor.. the Lume, unfortunately, appears to be the same, not so long lasting, and as one reviewer pointed out, very ironic given the spelunking origins. The clasp however has improved greatly, including the addition of a quickly adjusting feature that allows you to expand/downsize the band by 5mm (what they call a 5mm Easylink comfort extension). I use this feature multiple times per day, and have to say this is the most comfortable watch I have ever worn. MSRP at US $8,100 currently.. which is a little lower than the 40mm Submariner Date.
I guess the white dial with pin holes in the lugs and regular clasp are more collectible. I really enjoy them because they are different from modern ExpII.
It's a beauty! Great video :D
I hope to own the white dial one day :P
Kibble Watches I got the white polar dial and it is beautiful
Very little selection on that site...you must have snagged the last Rolex! The polar is sharp, I ended up with the black dial, but it was a tough decision...
I have a suggestion: rather than holding the watch under discussion in your fingers and then constantly moving that hand during your discourse (which is disarmingly distracting & somewhat annoying) why don't you just place the watch on the tabletop between your hands with the face facing the camera, and discuss whatever you wish to talk about? Then the viewer, like me, can focus on listening to your words whilst looking at the subject of those words, namely--the watch. I think that would make a much more effective video. Thanks.
No way Jose
A good review marred by constant distracting and irritating stop-start editing, however I have subscribed.
ihopetowin You are right ! That is irritating as hell !!!
Great vid. One of my favourites from Rolex. Hope to own one at some point. Cheers👍
Nice review. I tried on a 2014 Explorer II Polar today and loved it. I think though that I'd prefer an older 40mm version. Ready to buy but I'm very indecisive. Suggestions welcome.
Papa G honestly I’d recommend waiting now. Baselworld 2019 is around the corner when new watches get announced from Rolex. Rumours are we may get updates to the explorers so it would be easier waiting.
Have a GMT coke and yesterday purchased a explorer 2 black face 2003 y series. Not for everyone but I really love the watch and think the watch is under priced at the moment. I think in years to come this watch will be one to watch out for.
What do people think ?
@@millenarywatches8413 Agree totally watch this space.with the Rolex Explorer 2 post 2003. It's the last of the Rolex models that have not had fairy dust sprinkled over it.. Steel sports watch GMT...I'm not a betting man but I feel confident on this one...
NIce. I love my Black 2008 16570, out of my 4 Rolex watches the explorer ii gets probably the most wrist time. If I had to let go of my watches and keep one I think the Explorer II would be a serious contender, even over the Ceramic Sub. It's the perfect size for me. It's understated and I love the simplicity of it. It's an unrealised classic.
Now you just need some dress advice. Pocket square doesn't match tie in any way.. doesn't match anything, stripes on shirt, crossed lines on tie and another pattern on the pocket square... all conflicting/too busy and non complimentary. 16570s are awesome though 😁
I 100% going to buy one of this one ... I prefer the white dial but I‘m hoping that I‘m not massively overpaying because these go up in value like hell right now
You already made some good money on this model my friend. I bought the same a few weeks ago
I did. It helped fund my blnr. Congrats on your purchase. Wear it in good health and do hit subscribe on the channel too.
I have one of those. I agree bout the clasp. The earlier versions one was even worse.
Thank you for this great video about this amazing watch.! It feels good to hear beautiful references about this particular watch.! I have the same One.. And I really love it. Where I live I see Rolex watches everywhere but I rarely see the Explorer II.
Peace and much blessings to you too. YES YES YES you hit the nail right on the head. The Explorer II IS Rolex only pure tool watch today. IMO the perfect Explorer II would be 40mm, new modern oyster clasp, new maxi dial w/orange text/GMT hand. Maybe a ceramic bezel? However, if anyone finds themselves debating 42 mm or 40mm. Also consider the 42mm. It wears small and it's thin. I will say I prefer the black Explorer II 40mm. The white dial 40mm looks too dated because of the small hour markers. If it was a maxi dial? It would be perfect even with the old clasp, the older holes case, or hollow end links.
Very good review...! Thank You
The Perfection
What year is this piece?Edit: nevermind, 2006 you say
It’s destined to follow the pattern of the Daytona to be an iconic watch in near future
Interesting.
Great Video and a great watch! :)
Enough of this spelunking origin stuff -- the original E II had tritium (perpetual) lume, so if you were in a cave with no light, the tritium would glow and you could tell whether it was AM or PM. When they eliminated the tritium and went to luminova, the watch's utility as a cave exploring watch went out the window, and the watch became the same as every other Rolex tool watch with luminova. The E II is just a great watch -- period.
Non turning bezel surely hinders it as a tool watch. Beautiful watch though.
Peace and blessings to you too. Thank you for this video.
Thanks for the detailed review: great video!
Your welcome.
nice detailed video as always!☺ didnt like the echo from the room🤔
Thank you... I'm struggling with finding a good recording location. Echo at my place at home is far worse!
Do you still have the Rolex Oyster Perpetual ?
I do indeed Bob! Hope You are well.
I'm from Singapore, u make nice video. Please talk about Submariner two tone sunburst or Submariner no date on your next video. Cheers
I love my Explorer II. I have the same model featured here. As for the clasp, while it looks frail and not as "high quality" as the rest of the watch, I find it is stunningly comfortable and sometimes when I am traveling I actually don't take the watch off for a day or two. I don't even notice I am wearing it. As for value, I noticed the same thing years ago: for some reason (likely relatively low demand), the watch has not appreciated as quickly as its counterparts BUT it has appreciated steadily nonetheless; its market value is now more than what I paid for it + what I paid for the complete overhaul by Rolex. Its great to know somethign that I enjoy this much has also proven to be a great investment. Chive on!
May I ask what the price was for the overhaul?
@@martinofidacaro2281 since its been several years AND because the work needed will vary on a watch to watch basis, you would be best advised to consult with a Rolex repair center.
@@RANDassociatesinc so you don't want to say?
@@martinofidacaro2281 Do you currently own a Rolex?
If I had the money I 'd buy one in white and one in black and that will be it . No more watches for me .
I like when my watch reviewers are well dressed.
Randy hahahha thanks. Hope that merits a Subscribe 😉 if you haven’t already.
Can u review explorer 1.
2016 version
Great suggestion.
great video emk
Thanks ... bro!
I had one, great watch, I agree with you on all points. I just sold mine for a lot more than I paid for it.
Why did you sell it?
@@martinofidacaro2281 probably to fund another piece. Are you thinking about buying one?
@@TheAmericanStranger1 What do you think about its current price, undervalued or overpriced?
@@martinofidacaro2281 I like that generation of rolex sports models (five digit references), but I don't think any of them are worth the prices they are going for now. There are plenty of better options at that price point.
Great Rolex very cool
Bro...very useful video 👌🏻 please review Rolex datejust 16234 steel, fluted bezel, silver dial .
Thank you. Let me see what I can do about the Datejust.
I literally just found this channel
Great watch!
Nice watch and video. I do believe the Explorer I is the most tooly tool watch Rolex makes. I am splitting hairs I know. Haha.
--Michael
:-) Watches are worth splitting hairs over.
Mate.... what’s with all cutting!!!!
100 % agree with your assesment of thos piece which im an owner too the thing that i dislike somewhat is the date set which in reality is not quickset and is annoying but all in all an ecellent watch for the money
Thanks mario. Do you own the polar or black dial? Do hit subscribe to see more on the channel.
mario siaven The date changes with the hour hand rotation, so the most you’d ever have to change it is 15 days (it’s bidirectional) which is 30 laps of the hour hand only. It rotates fast. Better yet, wear it or put it on a winder.
Excellent review! Who cares about the Lume though. Why does it need to last so long? The watch isn't a Christmas tree. How often are you in a place where there is absolutely no light and on top of that you have no light source on or near you. If you are in that situation I don't think knowing the time is your biggest concern.
howareyouization If you are with a lady in bed
wouldn't a rotating dive bezel be considered to be quite "tooly?" after all, it does function as a stopwatch without needing a chronograph complication.
10/11years old....I have the same model that I bought in 1992....
I don’t fuck with the beed bracelets
Excellent review....certainly better than the shit Archieluxury uploads.
Respecto for the pointiff.
LOL
Wizz Freely arch is your daddy
Archie is my father
This guy sounds like his doing his homework, read the manual throughly, hoping for an A. Archie sounds like a man whose lived , sweated and shat it.
Oh you in Abu Dhabi; great, can you please introduce me to some local dealers in UAE.
She’s a beauty
This watch looks terrible with a suit. Sorry but thts the only thing you said that is flat out wrong. This watch cannot be dressed up at all. Youd be better off without a watch if thats all you have when u need to wear a suit
Don’t where you live dude but this watch is perfect with a business suit as is frequently seen in the City of London or New York!
please use a mic
The cut gives me a headache
EMKWAN REVIEWS, Brand new Explorer 2 cost £5950.....Brand new Sub Date costs £300 more then the Explorer 2.......Brand new GMT-MASTER 2 Batman costs £600 more than the Explorer 2.....NOT EXACTLY THOUSANDS OF £'S DIFFERENT..... THE WAY YOU PUT DOWN EXPLORER 2 BY SAYING "Much Lower Price then Bat Man and Sub" is a joke and a half....I strongly suggest you do your research before you open your big mouth......This is from a big Explorer 2 lover....I bought it and love it....... because it's not flashy not because it's "much lower price".....For a few hundred pounds more I could've bought a Rolex watch most Rolex owners have.......THAT ALONE IS OFF PUTTING.
Yee Leung urm... this is in terms of a 16570 NOT the larger Explorer 2 !!! I’ve done plenty of research but I also know the condition for pre-owned in the UK is completely different and very irrational.
Thanks for your quick response.......at least I got one.
You also have to remember this video is now old. The Explorer 2 has gone up in value as have many other steel Rolex watches.
Tell me about it ..I bought a brand new non date sub 2 years ago for just over £4000 in Macau now it's going for £5450 that's if your lucky to get hold of one.
P.S....... sorry, my style is to be offensive cause I know I will get a response.
Lol it’s ok ! I’m expecting you to subscribe now after all that 😂
Lume is definitely a problem
Stop cutting the video so much holy fuck I can’t watch this anymore
very bad sound quality
EMKWAN REVIEWS, Much lower price? I just paid £5990 for it ....£500 more than sub no date.
I suppose £500 is fuck all to you.
nice vid, sounds sucks though
Sorry man! Limitations. Hope you enjoyed the video and advice enough to subscribe. Check out my newer videos to see what new Rolex I got.
🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮
Rolex is watch for poor people and those wannabe rich. Real elite wears : Patek, breguet, Vacheron or hublot
But whatever.. every watch is made for different clientele
Grassi TV true, but Rolex isn’t cheap and it’s worn by very rich people too, you can say it’s more worn by “nouveaux riches” compared to the holly trinity watches. However, Rolex stands as the number one collectable watch.
You gotta be a fucking moron i tell you that much. Imbecile.
Hublot Big Bang!
My least favourite Rolex, ever ... I just cannot like these. Hope you got a discount (you bought this new, from an AD?!) - I wouldn't expect these to hold value, like a Sub or DateJust - or most any other Rolex, for that matter ...
Panerai
What's with the echo habib?
PlanetPowerHD filming while taking a dump
Great vid. One of my favourites from Rolex. Hope to own one at some point. Cheers👍
TimeToGo Travel And Timepieces you likely will not be disappointed. I prefer this model in my collection to any other: Rolex sub 114060 which in my view is hugely less attractive
