Thank you for this one. I am 65 and both my parents are deceased. I inherited all of their furniture. My mother had an oak table and four chairs very similar, solid oak. I remember when she ordered it to be made. She was so excited to get it. She died a few years later. It's worn from use and I could not bear to part with it. I love this color scheme. I hope to refinish the set early in 2025, good Lord willing.
Bless you, 1984dodgeowner! I am sorry for the loss of your parents, but very grateful you have some of their loved belongings. I am praying your loving attention to the dining set is an awesome process for you! If you would be so kind, I would very much appreciate your letting me know of your success. Nothing edifies me more than learning of answered prayer! May Our Good Lord bless your every moment, as you beautify your precious pieces. Amen!
Blessings to you this upcoming Holiday season...🦃🎄🎉 Hopefully Katie's channel will give you inspiration as to how to remember & cherish your parent's furniture, for many generations to come. Start your journey as soon as possible, even just to gather ideas & create a "vision." Best wishes to be seated around your "new" dining room next Holidays. Peace & blessings ☺️🗽
I’m only at the intro, but I can’t believe this was thrown out! I’ve been on the lookout for this style of extendable tables for about a year with no luck, but I’m refusing to purchase new. We can eat in the living room till I find one. 😂
I live in Florida. We just had 2 back to back hurricanes. I was appalled and saddened about the furniture I saw dumped on the streets. Flooding destroys a lot of things, but a lot can be recovered with a good cleaning or restyling. But it was left for the clean up crews. And, of course not everything can be restored. But so much could have and it wasn't. I kept thinking about you and wishing I had your skills and phone number. I lost nothing except an outdoor bench that was crushed by a tree. It was shameful and heart breaking. So much unnecessary waste. Thank you and all the others who have your skills for helping keep the earth a little cleaner. ❤ oh, I'm 74 and can still do a great deal. But could not see how to put that crushed bench back together. 😂 anyone need a million toothpicks?
I pray my comment will not be intrusive, but if I may respond to your words, please? You have a heart to rescue & preserve our planet. Both qualities I greatly admire! I share your regret for all the damage people suffered...I pray that SOMEONE, or SOME facility, may donate some free "storage space", so homes hit hard may keep some usable pieces, once they have a place to return them to. You do not need the skills & artistry this lovely lady shares with us. You have your own gifts from God! I believe you are an encourager...someone with the empathy & drive & articulate speech to inspire OTHERS to perform steps you feel you cannot. I will pray that you may reach out to someone with a vehicle & muscles, who may help salvage what may be used again. I will pray that some storage space will be available, & perhaps school woodshop classes may repair/refurbish pieces...to be returned to their owners, or DONATED to those who lost so much. If schools cannot assist in this way, perhaps a Veterans group would be interested in assigning/recommending particular service men/women for refinishing chores. It can be very therapeutic! There is something evident about your heart, that inspired me to brainstorm. You may have a very rewarding ministry awaiting you! God bless!
It looks like so much of the furniture was either upholstered or particle board, materials that the contamination water would destroy and not be reusable. I wonder if solid wood furniture could be salvaged but the contamination must be overwhelming to clean. my prayers to everyone affected by the hurricanes.
I have furniture from my parents and grandparents. My mother took good care of her items. And if a piece of furniture needed to be reupholstered then she had it done. I told her once she could just buy a new couch. She wrinkled up her nose and said this is a quality couch. You can't buy one this nice. So she had it recovered and it's now in my living room.
1. You’re right; this surely could have been donated to a thrift shop or charity instead of going to the curb. 2. But….in your hands it was totally transformed! Beautiful!!!!
Makes me sad how much furniture ends up in the landfill. Which is why I'm hanging on to my inherited French country dining room set to the end! You've inspired me to strip the very dark table top veneer and stain it a more contemporary shade. Love your work! 💛
Yep, beautifully done. I love that sometimes you're in love with your own pieces, but sometimes you're just "meh, it's not for my house... people like beige." Because some people watching your videos are doing their own furniture, but some are trying to flip pieces. And the more people saving the "boring" pieces, the better!!
This table has come a long way headed to the garbage dump! You brought it back to life, made it beautiful again! This'll have many more years of use and add family time to a new home! Fantastic job Katie! You always have awesome videos! Have a great week! 😊❤
The table looks good, l like the color and you do a nice job of staging all your pieces too. I always think the furniture you save and clean up is sighing in relief! LOL! 😉
I so appreciate that you give full instructions with each video, as if we haven't heard it before. Usually, I just stare at the videos in awe but this time I'm playing close attention because I'm considering a small refining project.
Around here it's common for people put furniture out on the curb for the taking. It's easier than hauling it off to the Salvation Army and you have to pay if you want the city to haul it off for trash. I picked up some storage shelves for my basement that were in good condition, a couple of Adirondack chairs that needed painting, and a couple of other outdoor chairs - all left on the curb.
It just amazes me how some elbow grease, paint and finishing could rescue something this beautiful. Thank you Katie for doing what you do. You are such a hard working, talented and inspiring person. Cheers from Tampa, FL. :-)
I watched your video because not long ago I fished out of the dumpster a table not unlike the one you found. It's been sitting in my shop waiting to be upcycled. Thanks for filming and sharing this!
Wow! I never dreamed it could look so great…especially with the cool chairs. What a different and improved look. We live in Amish country and this is a very common table around here. I’ll never see it the same after seeing your transformation! ❤️🥰💕
Looove it! Great way to take a 90s/early 2000s "department store special" dining table and turn it into something unique and eye catching. Paired with those chairs too?! Amazing.
Oh my goodness, a penny just dropped!! I thought my maple tabletop was solid wood, and so went madly sanding! Your explanation about veneer both sides of a layer of pressed wood is an eye opener for me! Thank you for your explanations and teaching, soo helpful! What a hard lesson to learn! 😢
You made it look great. It seems that applying the tung oil blend to the table top was a lot of work and drying time. Your dining room looks beautiful... the dresser, the painting! The chairs looks great with the newly finished table. You and your husband are a great team. God bless you.
What an amazing refresh. Tables are not easy, but you make it look easy. What a great update to that orange Oak table. I have done a similar one and I stained it in a dark walnut. I like a lighter stain. I'm going to have to check out the fusion mineral paint stains!
Thank you for continuing to put out amazing flips! You are the one that inspired me to actually take the jump and start flipping. Unfortunately a few nights ago my shop burnt down and I lost all my furniture and tools. So for now I’ll keep watching your knowledgeable videos and learn even more before I can rebuild
We all made it out safe but my son’s bunny…. Hardest thing for me is not being able to do furniture flips until I rebuild but alas until I can I will continue to watch your beautiful work
I have the same style table without the middle leaf. I painted it white a while back. Now I’m thinking of painting it another color. Your table turned out really nice and matches your chairs. Makes an awesome expensive looking set. You do great work! Thanks for all your tips.
I spent the day in Northern Idaho putting the yard and patio away. Exhausting! You're boring beige brush strokes was the perfect quiet I was needing tonight. Love the table!
I love oak. I have a second hand kitchen oak table similar to the one you're refinishing. It has a minor imperfection. It just means that once it was loved and used. The oak wood was from PA about 30 years ago. I wish that I could afford to have my father in laws desk stripped and refinished. It was painted and imo would look great restored to the original wood.
I’ve been waiting for this video since you spotted it on the side of the road! I have been looking for a table like this for seems like an eternity, looking on the roadside and trolling Facebook. It’s either too far, not the right size, looks cheap, etc. You know the drill.😅😅 Thank you for the inspiration! It was already thinking black with a natural top, but that beige is stunning! 😍 ❤
I have seen literally a million of these tables. I’m not in love with that new SFO color or the process. I do however love the tried and true paint wash you use. Thanks for the inspo for the same table projects I have in my line up. As always… love my little Canadian friend 👏🏻🇺🇸
1. Love that the before started with the curbside. 😹 2. Autumn colors through your window at the beginning! New Englander piving b in South Texas, where it's still 87F, and the only thing changing is the length of day.
I am glad t hear. You were not totally liking the new light oak. I tried it and was not a fan but this new look is something someone will enjoy for sure. You did a great job. I do many of these tables too so love watching your spin on one. I am always shocked on what people throw away.. just offer for free someone will take it hands down. and some will make it new again like you did. Well done
You always have the best outcome for your creations. I never look at a piece a person has redone like it’s for me. Like you I like a neutral piece but I will appreciate those that I cannot see in my own home.
Yay! A Saturday video from Katie! I watched your bulk trash video and when you pulled this oak table, I couldn't wait to see how you'd work your magic on it. Many people have orange-y oak pieces like this already (a relative of mine has a table very much like this one) that are sturdy and still usable, but the orange finish and the oak grain is dated and turns people off. Big thank you for showing us how these pieces can still be saved and updated to appeal to today's tastes and decor. Another great transformation--can't wait to see what you do with the other treasures you scored from your last curb run!
Came out beautiful Katie. I’m working on the same exact table. I have 3 I got for free. Trying to finish them before Thanksgiving for those needing a table for the holidays.
I actually have this exact table, it's about 20 years old as I got it when I had my first son. I plan on redoing it as well basically plan on basically doing the same, redo finish the top and paint the bottom. Thanks for the tips and tricks they will come in handy when I redo my table! 😊
People put nice things to the curb because they hope someone like you will come along and take them! So no waste, just a blessing!:)

You nailed it and those chairs with it really updates it 👍
It turned out fantastic, and those chairs with it are great! Nicely done, as usual.
Thanks for watching!

Everyone needs some beige in their lives 😂. It looks terrific, and those chairs are a perfect match, well done as usual.
Damn, nice job!! First I was like, eh, is okay, but when I saw it staged?! Wow! 🔥🎉
I love how your hubby jumped in unasked, right when you needed help. I have great hubby too!! ❤️❤️ The table is beautiful 😊
I got one for free too, then I painted it all black, then put it out to the curb and sure enough ,it went to a new home, made me smile!!
The table looks good, l like the color and you do a nice job of staging all your pieces too. I always think the furniture you save and clean up is sighing in relief! LOL! 😉
Just the content I needed at the end of this nightmarish week. Beautiful job, thank you for another informative and inspiring video
Nightmarish week for millions in the states😢.
It's really pretty. Oh boy, that was a lot of work. You are good at what your do Katie Scott!
I so appreciate that you give full instructions with each video, as if we haven't heard it before. Usually, I just stare at the videos in awe but this time I'm playing close attention because I'm considering a small refining project.
My childhood table looked exactly like this! So fun to watch it get a makeover and not go to the dump. ❤
Katie I appreciate that you are so concerned about keeping items out of the landfills. I think the table came out perfect.
No! You are a magician with furniture! I was worried I wouldn't like the painted base with the refinished top but it turned out absolutely amazing!❤❤❤
It just amazes me how some elbow grease, paint and finishing could rescue something this beautiful. Thank you Katie for doing what you do. You are such a hard working, talented and inspiring person. Cheers from Tampa, FL. :-)

I have a maple table and chairs from my Nana. I wish that I could give it to someone like you to freshen up.
The table turned out great! You’re right, it will appeal to a lot more people. I always look forward to your next video.
I have that same table! I’m gonna save this video and when I’m ready to redo it I’ll follow all the steps you showed us!! Thank you! Beautiful job!! ❤
Wow! I never dreamed it could look so great…especially with the cool chairs. What a different and improved look. We live in Amish country and this is a very common table around here. I’ll never see it the same after seeing your transformation! ❤️🥰💕
Oh my lord the finished piece looks AMAZING! Beautiful styling too!
You took a very ordinary and common style of table and turned it into a gorgeous piece - worthy of the dining room. Beautiful!
Katie! I love this--you have such a vision and I am constantly amazed by the things you do! This turned out gorgeous, as always
Looks a million times better! Great job, Katie
Looove it! Great way to take a 90s/early 2000s "department store special" dining table and turn it into something unique and eye catching. Paired with those chairs too?! Amazing.
that looks really terrific now--and btw, I love those d/r chairs with it.
Wow! This looks amazing! You really nailed it with the chairs! The chairs just took it over the top!! Enjoyed the video
You never stop amazing me. What a transformation !! Liked the contemporary stain color on the table top: 🤗❤️
I do like it! My sister had a table like this, and I really wanted to take it, but it was much bigger round than my dining room could hold.
Thank you for not only saving furniture in a beautiful manner, but for always teaching me something! ❤
I love how you explain your thought process during the refinishing! Makes it feel educational and entertaining 😊
It looks wonderful- it matches so well with your own chairs too!
I have this same exact table. I would love to have a makeover! Wished we lived close to each other!!!! Great job!
That looks fabulous; you just nailed it! Love from Scotland.
I love the boring beige! Beautiful job as usual.
Love the effort of bringing back the table to life, and making it beautiful again.
Thank you Kaite🙏🏻 ❤
You made it look great. It seems that applying the tung oil blend to the table top was a lot of work and drying time. Your dining room looks beautiful... the dresser, the painting! The chairs looks great with the newly finished table. You and your husband are a great team. God bless you.
You really scored on that table! And it looks amazing! Love the colors too.
Love Fusion paints. Looks lovely Katie ❤
I absolutely love the color!! I love a good neutral color! Absolutely beautiful!
What an amazing refresh. Tables are not easy, but you make it look easy. What a great update to that orange Oak table. I have done a similar one and I stained it in a dark walnut. I like a lighter stain. I'm going to have to check out the fusion mineral paint stains!

We all made it out safe but my son’s bunny…. Hardest thing for me is not being able to do furniture flips until I rebuild but alas until I can I will continue to watch your beautiful work
Not boring... Beautiful!
Just a fabulous result! This table is now so versatile….

It sounds like you have a great project ahead of you!
I really appreciate the details you give during your makeover of the furniture. They are really helpful!
Love it. I wish these tables were more popular I Europe. Would love one in my home....
Absolutely gorgeous ❤❤❤ I Love how the table turned out!
Beige Color’s are all the hot warm Color’s right now, can’t really go wrong, like you said, classic
As usual, I doubted, but it turned out so beautiful! Inspiring!
I spent the day in Northern Idaho putting the yard and patio away. Exhausting! You're boring beige brush strokes was the perfect quiet I was needing tonight. Love the table!
Wow! Beautiful transformation! So French country.

Thank you for saving a nice table and turning it into a really lovely and useful piece of furniture! I like your color choices always!
I’ve had one of those tables. You gave it new life. Thank you.

Love the new look! Tables are so easy to makeover (besides the time). I wish more people knew instead of throwing them out.
Beautiful. My grandmother use to tell me that "a little paint will improve anything, even an old country out-house".
You did a wonderful job on that table, Katie. Anyone would love to have it in their home.
Beautiful as usual, Katie. Also, love your choice of music.
Gorgeous table. What a vast improvement..
I have seen literally a million of these tables. I’m not in love with that new SFO color or the process. I do however love the tried and true paint wash you use. Thanks for the inspo for the same table projects I have in my line up.

I love it. I would have it my dinning area! Outstanding work!
I was just gifted this exact dining set! Thanks so much for the inspo!! ❤
Back in 1986 when I picked out countertops for my kitchen I chose a neutral color. I still like it today.
I am glad t hear. You were not totally liking the new light oak. I tried it and was not a fan but this new look is something someone will enjoy for sure. You did a great job. I think it is perfection! From dated to damn!
I have the same style of table but solid oak and without a leaf. I think it's time I refinished it!
You always have the best outcome for your creations. I never look at a piece a person has redone like it’s for me. Like you I like a neutral piece but I will appreciate those that I cannot see in my own home.
It came out great. Nothing wrong with the tone on the top.

Such love and care you put into your work. Enjoyed the process. Thanks
Came out beautiful Katie. I’m working on the same exact table. I have 3 I got for free. Trying to finish them before Thanksgiving for those needing a table for the holidays.
I wish the apron matched the top but i love the tinted oil finish, knocked the yellow oak tones out nicely
I *REALLY* appreciate you explaining what you're doing and why. This suddenly becomes educational when you do that. ❤️☺️
Thanks so much, I really appreciate that! I try to give as much info as I can. 😊
I love the finish on the table. You did a great job

I’d be honored to display that beautiful piece in my dining room! Lots of love went into that piece❤
Nice! I watched 🎉his just in time. Will do very similar, but 🤞🤞older table next week. You have inspired me and I got really nice tips) thank you
I love that beige color! Very warm and relaxing!
That looks beautiful now. I am always sad to see so much in the landfills when it can be given a new life. Great video
Love the table BUT what makes the table look so elegant are the chairs. The colors in that room are so pretty.
Beautiful I’ve done one that was painted teal 🤮 but it’s now cream on base and apron with dark walnut too. I love it.
Love the care you take.
Love this and it looks terrific in your dining room! Keep it!
I just love that Varathane all in one stain stuff! I'm totally in ❤ with this flip!
That tone looks great with those chairs, another beautiful job
