It is amazing what people throw out and so nice to see people out going through it to give it a new life. Love that your son and husband went with you.
I know right? That sofa and chair looked kind of cool. 16:07
@@lfuentes4098 I gasped when I saw those. I really hope someone grabbed them and gave them a new lease on life.
True, some cool stuff. I would have jumped on that first bench piece she didn't want to upholster. So MCM looking!! Don't people in Canada have garage sales?
I remember in the 70s walking around Manhattan, a hitchhiker from Calif. Someone had placed on the sidewalk a loveseat, I guess Louis the 15th. I wanted to keep It, sure somebody did. I knew it was original, not a reproduction. Guess I still want it?
What will you do with the file cabinet? I see lots of these.
I had the fun of the hunt without having to leave the comfort of my recliner. Thanks!
Thank you for saving this furniture from the landfill!
So glad you stopped for those two beautiful drawers
I'm so glad I did too!
So nice to have a husband that supports what you do.
Thanks for this awesome journey--one man's trash is another man's treasure. Especially under the talent of Katie Scott. We are so looking forward to watching you transform these pieces into things of beauty!
First, it's nice your community does a large pick up day. Second even better to see multiple people out going through items to see what is still usable.
I know, it’s great to see so many people out there giving these things a second chance!
I so like when Katie does her trash haul!!! It’s so wonderful to see how she takes what people toss and turns them into something beautiful and gives them a new life.
Thank you for taking us along with your family. I can’t wait to see the results. I know you will WOW us.
Katie, you have the best husband ever 😂 for helping you! Such great finds!!! Good job!
I know, right?!? I'm so lucky!
He's luckier 😁
This is so much fun and relaxing to watch. After all the election stress here in the U.S. it’s nice to watch you drive through nice towns in Canada (my grandmother was from Nova Scotia) and see the potential in discarded furniture. I will be interested to see what you create from your new, raw materials. Nice husband and dog, too!
I’m glad you enjoyed it! I have a lot of fun rescuing and transforming furniture!
I feel the same. I open my RUclips, and it's a bunch of political videos. I watch both right-wing and left-wing channels to be well-informed, but the last few weeks have been intense. I was so happy to see Katie's video in my feed. I'm watching it and sort of relaxing and meditating before I meet my parents for breakfast. They have opposite political beliefs than mine, and my Dad is known to get upset and cut people out of his life for saying something he doesn't agree with. My son told him he had white privilege once, and my dad wouldn't speak to him for almost 2 years. It was during Covid. It was really sad.
This all makes sense, Katie is Canadian.
@LilyBecca I'm sorry for your son. Stay strong! Wishing you the best.
Oh how I wish I were your neighbor!! What fun we would have!! Up early, hair in a bun, large coffee to go, hit the road, treasure hunt and return home with a truck full of restoration haul!!
I hope there are many more people like you who save these things from the landfill. I live in a 3rd world country and my jaw just dropped at what people throw out. 😮
Oh, its amazing. You can furnish your whole house if you want, and if you are willing to clean things up!
Is that your son? What a great helper. Love watching you turn trash into treasures.
What a sweet son to follow her mother and lend support!❤
Thank you for introducing us to your adorable 4 legged family member 💙
I don’t like episodes where anyone shops thrift stores, but scavenging the curb is fun!!!
The pot with the wavy top goes into the other pot of similar color. It is a two part African violet self-watering pot. My mother used to make these when she did ceramics. In fact, I still have some that Mama made.
Thanks for saving this from the trash! It looked like there was so much that should have been donated, rather than going into the garbage. You found some stuff that will look amazing after a nice makeover!
Excellent score Katie, I love that you can drive through the neighborhoods and just take what people think is garbage, you and then you bring it back to life, can't wait to see what you do.
Wow Katie! What a great haul!! You got some good stuff! Can’t wait to see you turn them into treasures! 🥰🥰🥰🥰
It's a shame that we live in a throw away time. People don't appreciate the quality of the furniture from years past. The craftsmanship of those items compared to the 'crapmanship' of today's pieces is a vast difference. Thank you for saving them one at a time.
People have been throwing away for centuries. The renaissance era was notorious for this... , every time fashion changes, the rich would throw things out, which were made by hand, and the poor score.
Absolutely
That was great! Thanks for taking us along!❤
Nice haul!
Katie, I have heard it said that we are the most wasteful nation on earth and after watching you today, I believe it. I could have had a $700-$800 yard sale with a little bit of clean up and repair. I can’t save furniture like you can, (and few people can), but I do know how to clean.lol. Thanks for sharing this. Fun watching you! Love your doggie and he sure was enjoying the ride.
I love your trash hauling videos!!!! It is amazing what people will throw out. I pick up “trashed” furniture too. I dabble with restoring it. Still learning!!!
I love all your videos, Katie, but this one is fascinating! Amazing what people destine for the dump. Bonus feature: You live in beautiful country, thanks for the tour! Hi to fam and to doggo! 🥰
We love to do this in our town as well. It happens once a year and it's called trash to treasure. Our town doesn't pick it up though, we have to take anything not picked up back inside. But it's a great way to pass along your unwanted items.
OMG! HALLELUJAH I found a Canadian furniture flipper! Love your vids!! ❤❤❤
Many people do have mis-matched dining chairs. My sis does and they look great together because she has really good seat cushions that tie them all together.
This was fun Katie. Thanks for taking us along.😊
Well done - can’t wait for the makeovers 💕👍
i miss the days of curb side finds and dumpster diving! you got some great stuff
I love my old stuff. I’ve been married for 64 years n I hope when I pass away someone will love my old stuff.
Living in a big european city: we don't have bulk days, we vave to register a request on internet so the special truck will come to your place. So hunting trash time can be any day! Special good hunting days are sunday evenings and hollydays...
You're doing a good job, Katie, with great skills and a very good taste. A pleasure to watch.
I originally found your channel on a salvaging throw aways episode ❤ can’t wait to see what you turn everything into and how each piece turns out! 😊 truly salvaged by K Scott ❤
Love the Art Deco vanity, especially the big drawer pulls.
Great video Katie! Thanks for sharing, so glad you found such awesome stuff!
We live on a military base in the US and have bulk trash 2x a month! I've found so many pieces that I've been able to either clean up or refinish and sell! It's been a nice little side income 🥰
What a nice town. That stuff is great!
Wow, Katie! You really scored on this day. I love community clean up days! 🤗
I can hardly wait to see what you do with these treasures!
That was fun! Thank you for taking us along. (Your pup is adorable.) ❤
I love that your family helps with the treasure hunting ❤
I wish there was a big trash day in my neighbourhood Your dog is beautiful
You saved a huge amount of furniture. I was so glad you rescued the sewing machine drawers!
why can't we have a bulk trash day!! Ugh! I just day dream as I watch yours! lol Can't wait to see you turn trash to treasure
You got some really nice pieces.
I didn't think I was going to like the final colors but in the final reveal the table looked fantastic! OMG I can't tell you how many of this style of table I have done over the years.😂 💖💖💖💖
Look like your furbaby is enjoying a day out riding in the truck.
Oh I loved this show. How I love to pick over freebies and remake I always wanted a business to redo remake and keep things out of the landfill
Nice haul of free stuff! Can’t wait to see what you do with it. 😀
My favourite part was watching you pile it all up in the garage 😅. So jealous of your double garage. I have about as much stuff piled up in a much smaller space. It’s so hard to work in there as there’s no room to move around! No more new pieces until it’s empty.
The wavy top pot is the insert to the other one with the holes on the side. It's a self water insert for African violets. 🙂
Love that you saved all of these items from landfill!
This video was SO fun to watch and you found so many amazing pieces! It just blows my mind the things people throw away, but the old saying is so true; one man's trash is another man's treasure (or woman!) Also, I love your videos and look forward to them every week. Thank you!!
It's a good thing you have such a large garage. I'm looking forward to seeing how you restore these pieces. Nice to know that they're not ending up in the tip.
So cool you find so many thrown out furniture to restore!
Lots of things to look forward to! Can't wait.
I can’t wait to see how you make-over these pieces! Please do the longer videos versus the shorts. I love seeing your step by step approach. ❤
All of my projects have a full length, step-by-step tutorial 😉👍
I'm so excited to see all these new peices! I know they will make such fantastic upcoming projects for your videos! Definitely looking forward to seeing them as they get thier turn! You had an awesome haul! I'm always impressed by your ability to identify what type of wood a furniture piece is made of (Oak, Maple, Pine, etc) I know from doing a tiny bit of wood working that it takes a lot of practice but it's even harder to identify the species with a stain on it already. ❤
Can’t wait to see what you do with all these treasures!
I feel as though I just took a ride in the country. You live in a beautiful place that has rain. I live in California near the coast and we either have too much rain or none at all. Thanks for taking us along. Here people put treasures out all the time with a ‘for free’ sign. My son loves to find treasures!
I was so pleased to see that you also pick flower pots like I do 😊
The pots you found. The wavy edged one fits inside the one with the holes. It's an African violet pot. I love mine.
Trash trip was fun. Love your journey. You really are talented. Doggo and husband are cute.
The table you thought was solid oak...I refinished one for my mom. Painted the base with white enamel (10 coats) then stained the top and distressed it with multiple top coats. Moms hard on her furniture and a chronic smoker. That table is so beautiful, I'm in love and told her it comes back to me when she's tired of it. 🕊️🤍
Wow, Katie, you had a good day treasure hunting
Fun video! You got some cool stuff! And thanks for including cute shots of your adorable pup! 😁
Thanks, Katie --- what a fun couple of days!! (I felt I was there with you!)
Hey, Katie. This is my first time watching your channel, but it won't be the last. I just wanted to mention that there were some ceramic pots you brought home, and two pieces were for an African violet plant. They were a brown glaze. One piece goes inside the other. The top is solid (no holes but also no glaze), and the bottom pot has 2 holes on the rim (one on either side). I thought, if you still had both of those pieces, you might like to know that they go together as one. This is because African violet leaves turn brown if they get wet when watering, so they water the pots thru the holes in the bottom pot, then the pot with no glaze on the bottom is able to absorb water up to the plant in the top pot. Just an FYI. Thanks for a wonderful ride around your town! Keep up the great work! 😁👍
Thanks for rescuing these pieces! Can't wait to see what you will do with them.
It’s unreal what people throw away!!! You got some amazing stuff! I saw so many things that I personally picked up!! All those flower pots and the flowers! Those were must have! Your husband is so sweet to help you!!! Cannot wait to see how you make them over! Love your video!! I have subscribed!!
I love coming thrift diving with you.
I’d loved to have you take on those two random old fashioned wooden chairs, and make them over as a set to donate back into the community. They were too good to die! Step outside the comfort zone of dressers and tables and inspire us all please ☺️
Just because I didn’t grab something doesn’t mean the other people out looking didn’t take them 😉 I’ll keep picking up the things that inspire ME. There’s plenty more than dressers and tables on the channel if you’re looking for something different.
and Mrs T WOW you collected some great makeovers to bring back to life so well done look forward to seeing the videos
Awesome haul!! That scalloped edge pot is the inner pot for the pot on the right with a hole on each side. Its a self watering pot. Water goes in the outer pot and the plant is potted in the inner pot. I use them alot. Especially for ferns etc that like consistent watering! Just thought I'd share😅. Can't wait to see what you do with all your treasures!
I can't believe what is on the side of the road! I never see anything like this where I live. That's awesome
That was fun to go along!
I love to seek out hidden treasures when it’s bulky pickup days. I recently had mine in our neighborhood and yes, I found some good solid wood pieces that I can’t wait to work on. Thank you for sharing looked fun to do. I can’t wait to see how you transform them.
Can't wait to see what you create!
This was a really fun video. Thank you for taking us along on your journey. I can't wait to see how you're going to transform all of your treasures.
That was actually super fun! I love that you take us along on scouting missions like this. It's interesting to see what sells there vs what sells here on the west coast. Excited to see what you do with them 😊
There is so much I would have picked up, like all those demi-johns, tables, etc. I would have loved being on that trip!!
That is one heck of a haul. I’ll be looking forward to seeing what you end up doing with those pieces.
Amazing haul and I love that hubby and the pup joined the fun! 😊 Can’t wait to see what you create!
Fun watching how much furniture you were able to save from the landfill! Looking forward to the transformation videos.
Can’t wait to see what you do with this furniture. 👍
Thank goodness we don’t have days like this in the UK where people put out bulky items for pick up. My partner would be coming home with so many things! 😂
But we do have skips 🤣🤣
That was a great haul. I thought those sewing machine drawers were very cool.
@ me too, Jami ray vintage sell those for $$$
@@munchkinheaven7877 please no skip diving 😂
Felicitation madame Katy vous avez fait une très belle récolte et bien du travail en perspective bonne semaine et au plaisir d'un prochain tutoriel. ❤❤❤👍👍👍😘
isn't it the best feeling?!? to know you kept all that out of the landfill? PLUS, after you make it useful again, it will fill a need so there's that much also not being made new, out of new trees needing to be cut down (plus the glues and chemicals and junk that would have been needed)? GREAT JOB!!!
Really looking forward to watching you use your skills to rescue that great haul! Thanks for sharing with us. Stay safe, stay well and Blessings to you!♥!
My boys used to be so embarrassed helping me on curb shopping day. Lol. Great to see you giving these throw aways life again.
I wish I had been with you, I love to do what you did, what a good save, love these kind of videos, please share when you can!!!!!!!!
Loved going along with you for all the finds!! ❤
Man!!! I want to live in your neighborhood! Thanks for the drive through the area...
I thro 11:09 w stuff out and am glad when people take it off my curb to do whatever 😊...I'm getting older and don't want to deal with anymore refinishing furniture which I used to do so happy other people want it!!❤
A woman after my own heart! I have picked up old furniture off the side of the road and refurbished for years. Unfortunately in my area, we don't have a bulk trash pickup day. Or if we do, nobody knows about it and doesn't utilize it. I just have to come up on something or go looking and hope I find something. It is truly addictive. So glad I found your channel. 🥰
YOU HIT THE MOTHER LOAD!!!
We did GOOD 👍
Can't wait to see which one you start with!
Missed that painted, ornate plantstand in white next to that broken down dresser. The cannonball head and foot board bed could be refinished for resale or turned into a bench. The round wicker chair you liked but had no cushion is not difficult to sell without the cushion. There are floor cushions that would also work that the buyer coukd buy. I would have grabbed those metal (or aluminum) chairs that were next to your maple veneer dresser. Of all your great haul, I'm excited to see the Art Deco vanity come back to life to its original glory! Switch the right top drawer to the left second draw and the new drawers can be accent pieces. Less pressure to make them exactly like the other drawers. Love what you do, and love going in these picking trips with you. It's two fold satisfaction! No matter what I see that I would pick up, it still saves me the work! giggle 🤭💌
I can’t wait to see the table makeover. I have one that I need some ideas for.
When your community brings items to the street, I am impressed how neatly their items are stacked and efficiently arranged. Love the Sealtest plastic milk crate. Have one just like it in the midwest. Good haul! The white metal file cabinet looks new! Cannot wait to see how you work your magic on these items.
Great haul! You saved them from going to the land fill! I can’t wait to see what you will do with them!
