Groove over notes! Why is it always that it takes mastery to learn the most important thing. Here I' ve got the most shocking news for you. Keith Richards is one of the best examples: he hardly never plays out of groove even if he misses out on the harmonies. I have noticed this one time when listening to some of the Stones stuff.
the greatest funk bass player is actually a blond white guy! also a great composer arranger writer producer........ Paul......just getting better in time.
lol! To say that about St. Paul Peterson or Vic is funny. It's like saying, "there is a rule about bass playing and pics are not allowed. Not even for a different tone or sound"!
Very astute observation. I'm sure that Victor Wooten is the end all, be all of bassists and that no other style and techniques, other than the ones that he applies to bass, should ever be used.
Pauls playing is actually Grooving more!No surprise considering all the people he played with!
Very cool. Victor is such an inspiration.
For victor there are no such thing as wrong notes because he groove first. What a master on the Bass
Paul Peterson is a great bass player.I have never heard him in a setting like this. Thanks for posting
This is the funkiest thing I've heard in a long while
masterful, both of these awesome bassist.
victor is the man, there is no wrong note...
I like his thinking :)
Yea
You know shit is getting "real" when a cat walks in wearing a reflective construction workers shirt lol!
Love the Jean Pierre part LOL It makes me laugh when I heard it
You're only wrong if you let it be wrong. From what I've gathered, Victor is a master at taking a mistaking and using it as a pivot
No such thing as a wrong not in Vic's book. All his lessons seem to share this similar concept. The guy is an incredible visionary of the instrument.
Groove first, indeed!
Thanks for the vid RdM.

Solid pick work... always good to see/hear.
nasty click on the attack, though
The Pleasure was all mine!
I've only heard one kind of wrong note in my life. Every note played by a middle school oboe section.
When I don't know what key I like to slide into it.
And now I want to learn to play with a pick... damn.
Great stuff
Feeling man !!! oh Yeah!!!
this kind of chord progression is the easyest to improvise. I can imagine do Victor.
They finally get into a groove at around 3:30. When he takes the pick away he sounds so much better.
it all sounds groovy to me but 2:48 especially is not in the groove?
Jeff Bruner Yeah that pick sounds like a zipper
5:27 ...
Foda demais
mt bom cara
9:45 Im wondering how the hell he does that with such speed :o
my eye says it's probably alternating up/down strokes, using a finger as a pick.
his wife must be a happy person
i think he is just pluging really really fast
and only using his middle finger!
You do know that is exactly when Wooten starts playing the groove and the white guy starts soloing, right?
Yes. Paul plays rhythm and then swaps lead from Victor. But he finally gets into the pocket when they switched.
Cool.
9:20
Yeah I’m jamming with Victor all the time also 😋
The pick is too replace a guitar pick style
Sorry, but I don't feel like busting out google translate... Lol :P

かないませんな。神々の遊び。。。
Three people think skrillex is the best bass player in the world
Awesome video and groove but when Paul uses a pick that bass sounds so bad xD
when Wooten starts playing the groove, paul starts soloing... doesn't really like paul, even he is really famous or not
lame !
I like it. But real bass players never use a pick.lol
douche.

Rubens de Mello Somebody with some sense. It's like saying, "Wait, why is that guitarist using his fingers to play? Where is his pic?"
I've seen VW many times over the years and not once has he ever used a pic. Just saying.
