I absolutely have the highest adoration for tommy not only for his superb woodworking skills, which are of course immense, but for his ability to teach someone the basics on proper chisel technique and *not* come off as condescending or ‘man-splain’ as I believe the youth call it lol. He’s such a rare talent.

Tom Silva has talked about using the side of his hammer before on a number of occasions. He said that's the way he was taught. Also, that red oak will darken over time on its own. If you stain it to match now, it will darken and become obvious in about 6 months.

You dont get anywhere near as clean and striaight an edge on the cut baord. That's crittical to this job because you want the sawn board to meet the chiseled board as tightly as possible. Also the multi tool is very hard to control when it gets beside the installed baords that have to remain uncut.

The idea is to sand it smooth with the surrounding boards. Prior to inlay you couldn't be assured of not sanding the single piece enough, it worse, sanding too much. The only thing that could have been done differently to make the job better, and less noticable, would have been too stain the patch board to match the floor prior to urethaning.

This requires patience and sharp tools .

That red oak will darken on its own in about 6 months. If you stain it to match when it's new, it will then get too dark.

Tell that lady to go make you a sandwich she’s just in the way. Her hammer skills are dangerous to your health

Why not make sure that you are truly saved by Jesus Christ and practice this way. Remorsefully confess with your heart your sins to Jesus Christ who is God and tell Him that you right now are repenting of your sins and you want to be born again of the Spirit from above. Tell Jesus that you are remorsefully sorry for breaking His commandments and that you are begging for forgiveness from Him. Allow His blood from the cross to wash away your sins. After this is done with your heart successfully the Holy Spirit will come to live within you and He will rebuild you from the inside out.
Look for signs that you are saved. Things like spreading the good news from Jesus, getting other people saved, a craving for the word of God, reading the Bible, etc… These things are known as a calling and fruit bearing. If you're not bearing fruit then keep doing it. Sometimes it takes time to get saved. Read Matthew chapter 13 from the King James Bible. God bless!!!!!

Hitting it on the side is ok however a clear miss would be painful. The wide side of the hammer found its mark.....no injuries!
