Thanks a ton. 4 boards replaced, looks like it did before I started.
Was amazed your little dog didn't scurry off when you started your saw. But when you got your hammer he was so gone!
The. Procedure show..was pretty good..also good to have that amazing saw...
That was fantastc.Thanks
Look how that beautiful little dog isn't afraid. She/He trusts you.
Appreciate this video so much. Clearly explains and shows replacing a board that's in the middle of your floor.
Should’ve made a relief cut in the center and then those four outer pieces would’ve came out very easily. And you should probably put blue painters tape around the outer perimeter wood boards so you don’t damage them and do not use a chisel to beat against the good boards because you risk damaging other boards.
O
Dog is learning how to do it because is doggie time to do the next repair 🐶🐕
Good overall technique, but:
1) wear safety glasses, ear plugs to encourage the idiots out there to do the same
2) don't use a chisel on the seams or you will damage the proximate board
3) I know what you did as far as trimming the end and bottom grove of the replacement panel, but it sure wasn't clear in the video. A little close up camera work would go a long way.
4) not sure if it would have made a difference, but I would have put another board across the middle when weighing it down with the vacuum or you might get a slight bowed-up effect
Re t
That dog cracks me up
reopp that dog is adorable lol
These are called floating floors 8n Australia. A hardwood floor is when it’s thicker planks of wood that are the foundation of the house
People are eating this down just hatin. There is nothing wrong with this method, though regular wood glue should also do the trick.
I'd recommend earplugs, safety glasses are optional, and something to kneel on.
Glasses not optional. Just the other day I was doing the same thing, saw hit a nail and a piece hit my glasses... safety first!
Awesome job thanks
Is his real name “Gaylord”???
You have a nicely shaped head.
I just stopped in to see what the vastly superior folks in the comments had to say. Why bother watching a how-to video when you already consider yourself to be the only one that does it right? What a real man/woman would do is make their own video showing the way they do it instead of beating their chest on somebody else's video.
This is the most easy part , nail down!! Lest tried a glue down close to the doors or any gabinet , like a pro !!!
Depending on the sub floor, wood glue will work fine for wooden sub floor, epoxy or liquid nail for concrete.
Hi. I need to replace a few board in a prefinished hardwood floor. I purchased the flooring some time ago. Its natural maple color with I believe an aluminum oxide satin finish. I will have to cut the replacement board and put on the bevel, as you needed to. However, since this in in a kitchen, I feel that I need to seal the beveled edge. Do you agree? If so, what finished should I use and how should I apply it? Thanks.
Wonder why the dog's deaf now..
I have to replace some water damaged boards. Thanks for your hints.
what was the name of the saw? A vestible saw?
That is a Festool track saw. Although for some reason he chose to forgo using the track which is basically the whole reason for using that saw in my opinion.
I would personally use knee pads and a prybar
Gaylord lmao
Making a few cross cuts make it a lot easier
My killer wolf dog would have ran to the hills the second that saw came alive!!
Do you really think we need to hear fuckin shop vac
That dog is going too get tinnitus some day.
I am replacing hardwood floors where I had a stain and I notice the new red oak wood is slightly wider than the existing 2" I have down what can I do?? they told me it was 2 " but they lied so its like 1/16 " wider.
myviews block planer/hand planer or when you use the table saw to rip the bottom tongue of, top that sixteenth off as well. Put a piece of wood on the cut side so you won't have splinter blow out. Using a fine tooth blade and going just slow enough would help also with a little bit of tape.
any connections with Gaylord Focker
Safety glasses?
Yeeesh!!! Dude goes prying against the face of the board right in front! 😯🙁😬
1. It really helps to explain what you are doing before doing it. 2. Get your dog out of there man; that thing is going to go deaf!
+Mark Cooper i seriously dont understand why dog owners always feel like they have to get their pets involved. smdh
To funny. Y'all getting butthurt over the dog in the shot.
Please make sure to wear eye protection and hearing protection so that people watching would follow a good example. It's hard enough of a job to do, we don't need to diminish or permanently injure our senses as well. Hearing damage occurs in a way that does not heal and would get worse over time without protection and you would want your senses sharp for your entire life.
I have a Jack Russel long hair that looks just like yours. Best little dog in the world, lots of energy : ) Los Angeles
dogs just want to have fun!
umm, I guess you trust the dog to stay put
The dog is useless, but he’s cool doesn’t freak easy with the noise. I bet you could teach em to fetch tools and stuff
Great informative video - thanks
Great video! Any idea where i can get individual planks? I have a couple that are buckling but everyone wants to sell it by the case
U need to show the wood close up when u said to cut the edges tk make it fit. I dont know what t u mean
Cool dog!
The dog must have become deaf after that saw noise
4:37 damages adjacent board by using it to pry against
my thoughts exactly! what an idiot lol
That will be a mistake he will only make once and after having to pull the other damaged board hopefully he will learn his lesson.
While using a chisel to pry with instead of using the correct tool.
@@mikebabb2155 Actually he simply should have used the chisel to pry up from the cut on the inside of the board. Repeat on other side.
2:38 hit a nail, lol
brave dog
I can't believe it didn't freak out.
If you use the guide rail then you wouldn’t worry about scratching the floor when using your plunge saw 😉
good video... it's similar to doing laminate boards which I have done before. much easier to damage other boards with hardwood because they are nailed down.
Yes, hearing protection should be worn--especially dogs if they will watch lol.
hungryhungry2121 🙄
Why is ripping out a good floor?
Cute dog. My dog would run from the noise.
No ear protection for the dog? 🙄👍
lol, poor doggy
But you just weighted the ends of the board down. Wouldn't the middle bow up a little?
atomicrabbit2 it wouldn't expand that much by the time the glue sets, so no.
I just realized he not wearing safety glasses...
REAL MAN.
Is that a cavachon? I got one too
my hardwood floor is it, no sub floor
Why smash a perfectly good floor?..
A dog sitting there? REALLY?
is it the same procedure for floor boards under carpet please?
Why not just wood glue?
how do you repair old bruce flooring
Great video! Thanks for sharing. For odd angles and shapes, a template tool could save you a lot of time. Just sayin. :)
Emmy Braxtly
You couldn't quiet the audio down for the saw portions?
Very helpful
Shop dog
Beautiful puppy
do not clean the saw, tape and paper off the area you wish to protect
Great vid! Thanks.
Puerto Rico ohh
Nice name for a company, Gaylord hard wood,, Im sure you get alot of cupcake and queen customers
Why didn't he bring a couple of cats in there as well, thicko.
If we did the installation per your guidance, done by a professional, will the floor be uneven? I am worried that if someone is standing or walking there, the floor may feel uneven, is that true? Thanks
No it will be the same as the others. That thin layer of glue is unnoticeable.
Would use water vapor barrier paper in that spot?
what a gaylord
GAY LORD
Never heard of safety glasses?!
Tony3836 who needs safety glasses when you have Festools?
Even the dog from that distance needed some safety glasses...
Juju
no safety equipment?
Samuel Landa nope. None.
What do you expect? Hard hat boots and knee pads? Tf is this
