I once asked my Libertarian friend Teller, lover of freedom and patriot, who strongly disapproves of Communism and Socialism (He disapproves of FDR and Welfare, Medicare, etc.): what if Bernie Sanders won the presidency and helped transform the USA into something closer to Nordic socialism, so that people lived longer (Hey, you can't be free if you're dead.) and were HAPPIER even though they paid much higher taxes, would he be prepared to admit he'd been wrong? Maybe.
That's very interesting. I find blind adherence to political parties troubling. That being said, I think the question they asked in the survey itself might have been received with no small amount of skepticism. Even saying that certain policies created certain results can be contentious.
