Your videos sincerely unlock a part of my brain that seems to get buried during depression. I’m a really creative person but sometimes I really miss the obvious… stamps from random items for miniature, Ken-size books just blows my mind. Thanks
I'm so happy to hear that! I spent the better part of 10 years experiencing debilitating anxiety and depression. There's always hope. I overcame my troubles with acceptance and commitment therapy. I didn't have money for a therapist so I used a book called the Happiness Trap by Dr Russ Harris.
I know this probably sounds weird but, you know how we feel the day the depression lifts and we feel somewhat normal for a few days? I decided my depression was me mourning the parts of myself I lost (that I no longer needed) so I can grow more. Maybe Im just playing a mind game with myself but, I works. My down days are not as long or as debilitating just by changing how I looked at my situation. The thing with me was I tried so hard to hide my depression, only those close to me have experienced that side of me.
I have no idea why it never occurred to me to make mini books with polymer clay but I am so glad you showed me the light! Thank God for creative people like you thinking more outside the box and showing the rest of us your ideas and techniques! I'm going to have to check out the book you mentioned, it looked so good even from just the quick glimpse you showed us!
This video made me think of this chair my mom had when I was a little girl. The upholstery tacks had a pattern on them. I would press my arm against the tacks so the pattern would leave indents. I thought it was so cool. I had to go to Amazon and look for upholstery tacks, that I don’t need. Now I’m down the rabbit hole. Anyway, great video!
Details on miniatures give them a more realistic look, but your techniques always push it up a few levels above ❤. I really appreciate the way you show your mistakes and repairs. Your a very Talented woman, you do a fantastic job.
I'm obsessed with miniatures in general, but books will always be the best, no idea why. You could have an entire miniature scene and it's cool, but like a mini bookshelf full of tiny books? Heart
As usual your attention to detail and your resourcefulness are inspiring! In future, you might try a light dusting of cornstarch to help with removing pressed-in items, like that frame. It works for kiln-fired clay; I have almost no experience with polymer clay, so Idk, but I would think it would still work. Thanks for a nice long video!! 🥰
Oh hey, extra mini stamps for my mini scrolls and mini wax seals!❤ I cant do polymer clay, I may try your method of heatgun and cup at some point but, for the moment, I use Milliput for everything, its rock hard, doesnt cost much and takes even fine hair detailing (if you happen to like modifying model horses like me). I just cant see the point as I always burn it or something equally discouraging and Milliput seems foolproof (required in my case lol)! I just found out that if your paper punch sticks, using a candle on the cutting edges really helps (dont say I never pass on tips to you!) I have a set of metal stamps, the letters and numbers and a couple of others that I was going to use to stamp metal objects, you just reminded me so I need to go and find them because they would be perfect for this and my tiny wax seals.
I love miniature books! They are my favorite tiny thing. You can use a tiny bit of dish soap or jet dri as a flow aid for paints if you don’t have the high flow medium in the color you want.
I love all of these and how many different techniques and options you show! As far as the stickiness of the polymer clay goes: just lightly dust a bit of corn starch over the clay before stamping and nothing will stick! The corn starch doesn‘t affect the baking or anything else.
I am trying to make a small set of jewellery to represent my favourite book, so I can keep it with me in different ways, and I have *just* decided that I want to make a miniature version of the book. Thank you so much for this!
I love the idea of making my own little stamps instead of always waiting until something is on sale to get what I want. lol I have also found that the small decals that they have for nails work for dishes. I have made many sets of china for my houses. Thanks for sharing and you have a great day
I am working on a copper foil stained glass piece as I watch your videos today and I so wish I could push my extra strips of copper foil tape through the web (and through time, etc) to when you were making these, just to see what amazing ideas you would have. If you ever have a need for copper tape, hit me up & I'll save some for you. I'm sure I'm not the first person to offer you my trash, but it really is beautiful & handy and so expensive to buy a roll of if you only need a few inches! on stained glass, it gets covered with solder, which is a shame really.
I didn't intend any criticism - I love how you express yourself! Like others have said, the dryness of your humour and your inventiveness and imagination are a joy to behold and share in - thank you!! I also love that we're not distracted by luminous manicures, but that you (thankfully) have the beautiful hands of a true craftsperson. ps... shhhhh... but I was made nearly seven decades ago!!! @@queencityminis

That was so neat and super fun to watch. Endless possibilities and so creative with the stamping. Thank you for the shout-out! I love that you used the antique wax on the clay. Never tried that. It's great to learn a new way to use it from someone that has learned about the medium from me..😂 I love that!!❤🥰
I just love your videos so much! The step by step details, experiments and comparisons, honest mistakes followed by clever solutions, and always including options on tools/products/methods. Your humor gets me every time, too. 😊 * I got a load of ‘leather effects’ clay at Michael’s marked down to $2, all the earth colors…when it got marked down to $1 I got all the other colors knowing I could paint or tint them. All these book tips will come in handy- the stamps are very cool. Soft clay can be tricky/delicate, hard to not warp the shape while handling. I wonder if the imprint and stamping while the cover piece is flat might allow more creativity with less caution? Check size over the paper, make the ‘fold marks’ for a guide. Remove, lay flat and stamp designs, then any final adjustments after its back on.
that's such a great deal! I should go to Michael's more often to catch more things on clearance. The author, Sue Heaser, shows how to make books that open. Your technique would apply well. I just didn't want to give away the contents of her book she worked hard on.
I can’t believe RUclips didn’t show me this as soon as you posted it 😤 These look awesome and you don’t overuse that one hospital green color. I like it. I could watch you make and describe your process all day. Idk I love how you describe it! And how you figure it out as you go.
It would be hard to pick a favorite! The “journal” book looks like the original Hobbit story with the mountains on the cover, lol. I second what someone else said that your creativity and resourcefulness are inspiring! I really look forward to your videos- love your voice, your honesty, creativity and ideas, etc.
These look great! Im not a fan of polymer clay books personally but that’s just because i like being able the flick through mini paper pages. Though maybe I could make the clay covers separately 🤔
There's a quite simple way to make these books so they open, but I didn't want to directly steal the authors unique idea. So if you'd like to make your books open, I suggest borrowing Sue Heaser's book from the library or picking up a copy.
I took a whole page of notes. Impressed by your use of different mediums to achieve all the depth and details. That one book was 100% Slytherin, and you seemed to enjoy that one the most! I am looking forward to using the clay to create Ashmole 782 from A Discovery of Witches. This was a nice surprise since I could swear you said it wasn’t coming until Saturday.

@queencityminis Oh well. I couldn't find my half finished books. So now I'm putting my miniature sprinkles in tiny jars instead...😂 I think I need help.
How about a bible! That would be a challenge! For anyone! 😂
True!
👏👏👏👏👏👍👍👍💯💯💯💯💯❤❤❤
Has anyone tried this with air dry clay?🤔
I haven't. I'm curious how it would work
@@queencityminis I'll see if I can give it a go.
I used Model Magic and its too soft. Someone who's better with Model Magic might have better luck than me.😒
@@ancientimmieDear Ancientimmie, what is Model Magic? It sounds like a clay of some kind but I've never seen it. Thank you, from Amanda Jones in Australia
To paraphrase a mid-20th century fashion maven, Black and Brown should NEVER be worn together. Charles Worth did it mid-19th century and got away with it, but only on Empress Eugenie........................
On a less pedantic note, your books are wonderful - the innovations just keep coming. If you had worked for NASA we would have been on Mars already............................
This comment is great 😆 Thank you!
Couldn't you also use the plastic between the book and say, that mini picture frame you had a hard time pulling off of the clay?
I bet that would work well! I wish I had thought of that. Thanks!
Lol. You need to go to the more mondern doll house videos! You will feel, young! Again! ❤
