    FYI
    The examples I use in the video are made up by me.
    #1 Write the word(s) as given
    The word(s) you need to enter appear exactly like that in the recording. This means that you have to enter the word that the speaker uses. For example, if the speaker says "habits" and you write "habit", it is wrong because you did not enter the word given. In particular, pay attention to the plural “s”. It is easy to miss that because sometimes it is difficult to hear the “s”. If you are not sure whether the speaker used the plural or not, there is a trick you can use: Have a look at the context and ask yourself this: Does it make sense to use the singular or the plural? Most of the time you will be able to figure out the correct answer.
    #2 Pay attention to the word limit
    In IELTS Listening you will have to answer fill in the gap questions. The instructions will tell you how many words you are allowed to enter. It is important to pay attention here! If you enter more words than you are allowed to enter, the answer will be regarded as wrong. To gain a better understanding of this, have a look at the example in the video.
    #3 Listen for synonyms
    In IELTS Listening the speaker might paraphrase information given in the question and in the answer choices. Have a look at the example in the video to understand what you need to listen for. It is crucial that you listen for synonyms because otherwise you may miss essential information that you need in order to answer the question correctly. IELTS make use of paraphrasing in the IELTS Listening test because they want to check whether you have a broad range of vocabulary.
    #4 Always be one question ahead
    When I took the IELTS I always listened not only for the next question, but for the next two questions.
    Why did I do this?
    It may happen that you miss the information you need to answer the next question correctly. If you do not know what the question after that is about, you will keep listening for the information you need for the question you already missed and you will not realise that the speakers have already gone on. If this happens, you will not only miss one question, but also the question after that and perhaps even many more questions.
    This cannot happen if you keep in mind what the next two questions are about. The second question is like a sign in your head. When you hear the keyword used in that question you know: “Ok I missed the question before, now I need to focus on the following question.” This ensures that you will not miss more information.
    #5 Listen actively
    In the IELTS Listening test you must listen actively for the information you need to answer the questions correctly. There are two ways in which the correct answers are given by the speakers: the easy and the hard way.
    Let’s start with the easy way: In this case the speaker mentions the information from the question first and then he states the correct answer.
    But it may also be the other way round: This is the hard way. In this case the speaker mentions the correct answer first and then states the information given in the question. This makes it harder to answer the question correctly because if you do not pay attention, you may miss the correct answer because you are not aware of the fact that the speaker first states the answer and then tells you “Look, this is the correct answer to this question”. Therefore, it is really important that you listen actively so that you do not miss important information.
    Have a look at the two examples in the video to see how the speaker may give the information in the IELTS Listening test.

    Hi juva please I have a doubt concerning about the integrated writings. The integrated writings required some listening, Now my question is, is't that the audio can be replayed again after listening to it or it disappears immediately after listening?

    • @juva
      @juva  2 года назад +2

      Hi Bubacarr, you will only listen to the audio once, you can't listen to it a second time. Therefore, it's important that you take good notes.

    can you please tell me, i am apparently making mistake for using less words in questioin like no more than 3 words or a number. So for example: I write Academic and when i check answers it is written academic circles. now ofcourse i missed circles, but is my answer incorrect?

    • @juva
      @juva  Год назад +3

      Hi 😀 That's a great question! The answer is: It depends. For example, if the answer is "academic circles" and you write "academic", the answer is wrong because the two don't have the same meaning. However, sometimes there may be words that are accompanied by other words adding additional information. In this case, the meaning is basically the same and it's also grammatically correct to enter both, so both answers are correct. To avoid losing points, I recommend entering the maximum number of words that make sense and that you are allowed to enter.
