This man saved my life. I prepared for two weeks straight by watching his videos and training every day. I got an overall score of 7 (L:8/W:6.5/R:7/S:7). I'd say the keys to passing this test are: practise and listen to Chris's advice. Also, on the day of the test, try to relax as much as possible, as stress will freeze your performance. I want to say thank you so much to Chris for all the free content! I got an overall score of 8,5 (9.0 R & L, 7.5 W & S) on my first IELTS Academic test, and all I did was watch your videos and practice using Cambridge's IELTS Academic books, all in less than 2 weeks. The most important tips I can offer are to focus during your test, be confident, and believe in yourself! It's important to know your strengths and weaknesses. Practice as much as you can! I only studied for around 1-3 hours a day, but I made sure to give my best during those hours. Disclaimer: I'm from Indonesia, and English is my second language. I also speak Indonesian on a daily basis. However, I have had a lot of exposure to English, whether from my studies (I'm a clinical medical student, so I read lots of academic journals, textbooks, etc) or just from movies, games, etc.
Tips and tricks 1. Read the instructions carefully, esp. word count 2. Try to do the computer-based listening test 3. Use pencil for paper-based test 4. Write in all capitals 5. Spelling is important 6. Focus on finding the correct answer 7. Prepare for the answer coming 8. Develop your focus 9. Focus on the question you’re doing while thinking about the next one 10. You can get a question wrong and still get a band 9 11. Always keep moving 12. Always give an answer 13. Use the example question to get used to the voices and the question 14. Expose yourself to a range of accents

Taking IELTS requires special preparation. Everyone who has taken IELTS will confirm that it is not enough to communicate fluently in English in order to get the necessary scores. When preparing for the exam, I recommend you to study special IELTS preparation books because they are specially designed for a student to understand how to take the exam. Take IELTS practice tests to prepare psychologically for the exam and get a feel for the time. In addition to IELTS textbooks and simulators, I also recommend for you Yuriy Ivantsiv's practice book "Polyglot Notes. Practical tips for learning foreign language". This book provides tips on solving many of the problems that every student faces when preparing for the exam. For example, how to effectively memorize new words, how to learn to write without mistakes, how to begin discussing a topic without stuttering, how to memorize new and why one forgets and much more. I wish everyone a 9.0 IELTS ! Good luck in creating your best future! Believe in yourself and never give up friends!

Hi Chris, first of all, thank you for this fantastic video and the effort you put into tutoring us. Secondly, I got a score of 33/40 in the above test, a few questions I got wrong were due to missing out words such as "THE" in the answers. I can't seem to figure out whether to use such words in some answers or omit them in others. Your suggestions would be highly appreciated.
Thanks for this video Chris, I got 35/40, I have a question 25- Could the answer also be “Over 40 miles?”. Any pointers on how to get more of these real tests would be amazing, thanks again 🙏
Searched the comments and found yours. Made the same question 5 seconds ago. It's not the first time I encounter this issue, and sometimes it seems like they cut possible answers although they are under the word limit. For me, "over 40 miles" is correct. I've searched, and it looks grammatically correct.

In 2021, I made the decision to move to Canada. At that time, I was introduced to your channel for IELTS preparation. At the same time, I took classes to prepare for general training in IELTS preparation. My teacher used to give me tests from Cambridge books and non-reliable sources, due to which I got confused. I usually listen to audios at x1.5 speed and I understand almost everything easily. Although, my problem is I'm bad at multi-tasking. You really nail it! You're indeed a very good teacher. I can hear all that you said perfectly.
If the other people speaking the English language can be like you, many students would have passed their listening test at once.
You nail it means?
@@faizashafat3394 It means that you did something very well or perfectly.

Same, did you improve over the 2 weeks?
What was your overall band?

Well done!
Awesome Chris, you could not have done anything more than this to drill the nuances of the listening test into our heads !!1 thank you so so much...
Such selfless service to record a two-hour tutorial and share it so freely. Thank you.
I chanced upon the video but it automatically skipped ahead to the listening test so I only realized it was a whole tutorial afterwards.
I must point out a minor correction in your answer for question 12 though in the context of the speech, the correct answer is E (simple polluting fuels) not D as suggested by the answer sheet.
I stand to be corrected.
I'm very grateful for your video. It helped me improve my score from 5.5 on my first listening mock test to 8 on the real exam.
Well done!
I got band 7.5 in listening. I’m eternally grateful to you . Thanks a lot for these utilitarian tips.🙏🏻
Well done! Congratulations!

Hi can you plz tell me how much time it took you to prepare for ielts exam?
@@notorious_pac833 It took almost 1 month for whole preparation. Well if you have a great english background I believe knowing the question and cracking the answer in a strategic way is the secret of getting higher band.
Hello Chris, after paying attention to the entire video and doing the free practice test, I was able to find out where I stand when it came to my listening ability. I got 37/40, and the 3 mistakes were mainly caused by me losing focus or falling for the distractors/traps. I'm really grateful that we have people like you who go as far as to help those that are struggling on their IELTS tests.

I did the the listening tests on RUclips and they were easy, but the test here was difficult for me! Thanks for telling us about that !

In the end, I couldn't get band 8 in Listening. I went into a depression as I was desperate to move out.
I visited those non-reliable sources on RUclips and found them very difficult and confusing. Now, I am preparing for Academic IELTS. I hope to get a maximum band to get a scholarship.

Hello people my ielts is in two days.
I'm super nervous.
Keep me in your prayers
You got this!
Thank you so much for your guidance! I have learned a number of useful things, that I need to improve and be careful with. Again thank you,sir
Well, this teacher is telling us so many truths and not only the truth of how to prepare for CELTS but also some life truths like staying away from the people who are causing problems and are draining your life and meditation and everything, That's some life experience and I can see that he's telling all these out of good intention, a teacher with integrity and a kind heart is so valuable than a teacher who just educates on the exams, respect!
I usually listen to audios at x1.5 speed and I understand almost everything easily. Although, my problem is I'm bad at multi-tasking. I have to answer the questions while listening, and that's the reason I get lower scores for my trial tests.
Also I don't read very fast, even in my mother language, so I don't have enough time to read all the questions and instructions before the audio starts.
But now that I've written all this, I know what to do next :)
You got this! If there's anything else our team can do to help you, please feel free to contact us.
