Why is Night Vision GREEN?!

The NVG was courtesy of Germans during WW2. It was a bulky contraption with an infrared illuminator that would blast invisible lights to the unsuspecting enemy, basically a stealthy flashlight. The reflected infrared would then be absorbed and intensified by the large lens.
But then Gen 2 NVGs arrived that no longer needed the infrared illuminator. They used image intensifier tubes that relied on ambient light from the moon and stars. A phosphor lens was incorporated within these tubes, which is why NVGs have that iconic green color. But green was not an arbitrary choice; the human eye is very sensitive to green light and is the most comfortable color for prolonged use in the battlefield.

OMG. I almost missed that part. I didn't pay attention to it at first. But now that I've come to think about it. What is going on there? Does this night telescope / night vision work by looking through a back end of a cat? These marketing strategies are getting crazier everyday. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

BECAUSE of this green theory that is better for the imaging maybe but for the best vision is the same red adopted by Audi & Porsche that are in jet fighter cockpit guage illumination because it's easier on the eyes in that red.

no mention of how night vision went to white phosphor after green phosphor? green is the easiest *single* color to look at but white is easier to look through, and newer night vision is black and white, not green and black.

Funny, I watched the Veritasium video that explained night vision and a lot of the information there is conflicting with this video.
But Veritasium actually visited a navy base and talked to a guy who develops NVG systems, so they're probably right.

That's funny. I just watched a 45 minute video from a guy who works at crane developing naval warfare tech and the video was all about night vision. About 85% of everything said in this video is full on wrong, lol
