So the r8 coils and not the r35 coils. I have ig1a's on my mk4 currently. I thought about switching to the r35 coils to make it more clean and fit the coil cover back on.
The IG1NA’s draw an insane amount of amps from the alternator but they are good for basically any power level and you’ll never risk spark blowout even if the plugs aren’t gapped properly
I have been down this path before. OEM, OEM with hks, Denso, d585 (mexican coils) and ig1a. Went from a low gap to a big gap now. I figured something to look into again. I have 2 vehicles with ig1a coils. They are good, but like you said lots of current draw and a bit ugly.
