Poland is the best example. We fought with Bolsheviks and won in 1921(they still haven't paid us reparations under the Treaty of Riga), then they invaded us with nazis in 1939, killed 20 thousands of Elite in Katyń, sent million to Siberia and then they were liberating. XD Of course Red Army during so called liberation was raping, killing Poles, they were stealing everything they could pick up from the ground. After war they were hunting down Underground Army members, torturing them and killing with the shoot in the back of the head. They falsified voting and installed communism... The level of schizophrenia goes from "we are the best country in the world, they are just jealous, they would like to be like us, strong and courageous" to " I can't speak about politics". But the best response, almost correct, was : " they like to conquer and crush. They are born like that, while we are different. We are wonderful and happy ". In Romania, when I was a child in the 90s, the general thought was that we are a particularly rich country in terms of natural resources. It seemed that this wealth made us different and superior to the rest of the countries and peoples of the world.
I noticed this kind of thinking at school and through discussions with the adults around me. Even in discussions with my parents, and they were never nostalgic for the communist regime.
Even from that age I had the impression that it was a way to mask the lack of self-respect of the romanian people. We were not aware of having done anything to be truly proud of in our history, so we preferred to delude ourselves with the supposed natural wealth of the geographical territory in which we lived. As if this wealth was our merit.
Over the years, this kind of thinking seems to have gradually faded as people began to get over the trauma of the communist regime. Now I rarely hear such thinking in society.
Since listening to the 1420 interviews, I have come to the conclusion that the russians are also suffers from a lack of self-respect to the extent that we were during the cold war. The supposed jealousy of others for "our" natural resources is ubiquitous.
I feel now, in a way that I did not before February 24, 2022, how good it is that we are no longer slaves to the Kremlin

Communist regimes and dictatorship în general thrive on nationalism, the last refuge of communism . People have been indoctrinated to think that their country is unique and coveted by the rest of the 'evil foreigners' . Almost a hundred years of this kind of ' daily diet' of propaganda in Russia and 50 years in the rest of Eastern Europe led to self delusion and a false sense of pride, when in fact quite the opposite was true. It was the best way that tinpot dictators, including the current one in Russia can keep their citizens in and can justify their crimes.

Bingo, excellent analysis. As Croatian I can confirm in ex Yugoslavia there was a similar thinking ("The West wanted Yugoslavia to break up because of resources"). Russians have a deep inferiority complex and they often balance between two different poles (over self confidence or deep shame). They don't have a healthy relationship with their country and that's really sad. I thought Croatians were problematic, but Russians are on another level of lack of self confidence.

    1950-1953 Korean War

    1975-1991 Angolan War
    1977-1978 Somali War
    1979-1989 Invasion of Afghanistan
    1991-1993 Gerorgian War

    1992-1993 Abkhazian War

    2009-2017 North Caucasus conflicts
    2014-Ongoing Invasion of Ukraine
    2015-Ongoing Syrian War
    2018-Ongoing Central African Republic War
Now, since people here allways list conflicts amd civil wars and claim „NATO“ started it, like the Balkan civil war or the US intervention when Iraq invaded Kuwait - It‘s fair to list all wars Moscow started AND where part of.

US won't confront Russia directly, even until now. The goal has been to dismantle Russia into smaller states through indirect way, like using bordering countries & create chaos inside. It is a well documented goal that can be read in US Declassified docs, US leaders speeches & US subcon financed Think Tanks.
It is hard for ordinary Russians, ofc. But foreign policy wise, Russia has exhausted their diplomatic channels. I think US will only stop being hostile to Russia, if Russia is divided into several independent countries with less military might.
US, as a hegemon, will always consider Russia's military force as a threat to their national security. I do not judge them, in a realist point of view. On the other hand, this is also a National threat to Russia. As non Russian, I do not judge Russia, in a realist point of view.

Once, my bicycle was stolen - some days later I found it parked in the street, locked to a fence. I went home and got some pliers and went to cut the wire. I cut it, and was removing the bike, when a guy came - very angry - why I was destoying his lock? I told him it was my bike and I that I didn't care about his lock - he could call the police, if he liked. This did not calm him down very much, he still felt wronged (luckily, the situation didn't turn violent and was kind of subdued).
He knew that he had stolen the bike, and he knew that I knew he had stolen it, but he felt intimidated by me - that I had the audacity to react and take back my bike- and even destroying his property (the lock).
I get the same kind of logic from many Russian people being interviewed about the situation - they don't really acknowledge the dominant wrong that was done - Russia's army invading Ukraine - and instead focus on the wrongs done to them (as result of the dominant wrong), and they want retribution against Ukraine and the "West".

@@christianevanherck6023 To be fair. The deification of kings and leaders isn't something that is specific to Russia. Although I definitely agree that today's Russians seem like absolute sheep. They want to seem proud and strong, but yet they love being on a leash. Letting Papa Putler do the thinking and applauding whatever he does.

I like this stuff at the 2:00 mark, the dude talking about how "everybody" wants Russia's resources. I've heard that repeated often in the interviews on this channel. But you know, there is one country which really REALLY wants your resources Russia, and that county also happens to now be in a "friendship w/o limits" relationship with you. What's even more interesting, you're holding on to some of their "historic land". Udachi!

@@mikegee729 Russia's influence in central Asia is fading, while China's is growing there. Meanwhile Russia's Siberian population keeps shrinking, while the Chinese are increasingly setting up businesses and farms across the border. The writing is on the wall with all that.

They *are* aware. Their answers aren't what they really think, it's that their ego replies.
Get them to open up - the proverbial vodka may help - and you'll find out they do know their country is shite, nothing else.

You know I think it is not so simple. They do not consider themselves as subjects with influence on political system or history. So they are in a comfortable position of not being responsible as individuals. In totalitarian states, if you are not a hero or suicidal you learn to live with fear and resignation and you call it "being apolitical". It's always "us and them" and you are beyond all suspicions because you always can claim the innocence resulting of being a victim of the system when things will go wrong.
It is interesting to look on Russian mindset in regard to crimes of the past. In the Stalinist Era millions of Russians became victims of the terror regime and lived paralyzed by fear for decades. When Stalin died the victims were rehabilitated but no one spoke about perpetrators. When Millions are killed someone had to kill them, right? Year after year passed and no one wanted justice and punishment of perpetrators and accomplices of the regime. As if nothing happened. Some identified themselves with victims, no one with killers. As if Stalin killed all these people in his free time.
So don't ask if they are unaware of what they've done. It's never us, it's always them. These who keep power, who make decisions. Average Russian is not a citizen because he had never chance to become one. He loves his country and is proud of being Russian. Wrongdoers are always the others.

@@eremstemero8823 😮 Russia have been living with this for centuries. They have this mindset that no one in Russia would cause them suffering and all of their sufferings are/were because of others maybe bec. they think they are more superior than others and/or because of jealousy. Either way, they have superiority complex and victim mentality.
