I think all hyundai/genesis products look and drive above average but the questionable reliability is still hanging over their heads. Lexus is boring in comparison but has a proven track record of reliability. Meanwhile hyundai, kia and genesis have electrical gremlins and engine implosions at sub 50k miles. My neighbor parks his on the street because of all the fire recalls... lol
Yea still hanging. Although as of 2020, they came out with all 'new' engines. Like the 3.5 has both GDI and MPI to avoid carbon buildup. But only time will tell. I hope they can put it behind, the competition is good for consumers, whether people like the cars or not.
The problem i have with Genesis is that the dealer experience / service is not quite there for a luxury car. A lot of Genesis dealerships are very much extensions of exieting Hyundai dealerships
I'm actually impressed with factor's marketing giving that spot the OK 😂 It's definitely a win, like 1/4 of the comments are about the sponsor and they're all positive 👍

I dunno about those Factor meals. I’m more of a Swanson’s TV Dinner guy, myself. The only problem is the sparks coming from the aluminum tray when I microwave them. But the sparks entertain my wife’s boyfriend’s dog.
I love the Genesis GV80 Coupe; however, I hate the way that the dealer network is set up right now. It's basically handled like just another Hyundai---which, for a segment like this, you don't really want. If you want to compete with Mercedes-Benz, Lexus, or even Infiniti, you gotta completely separate the luxury brands from their sister "consumer" brands.
Thinking about getting this for my wife. Shes always gets Lexus SUVs from her boyfriend every year and she’s been talking about trying something different for once. Wonder if this will be to her liking. I have enough money in my allowance for it.
I appreciate that Hyundai put so much effort in building this brand from scratch but the character and language of this brand seems a bit fake and tacky. They are trying too hard look like an affordable Bentley from the grille, the quilt pattern and even down to the logo. At least Lexus, Acura, Infiniti has carved out a vision of what Japanese luxury can be; even though they are slacking a bit in recent years.
Bought a 2022 GV80 Prestige back in February of 2022. While I enjoyed the car, it was in the shop more than I drove it. After 30k miles, no loaner vehicles, poor customer service after buying the car, and Genesis mechanics trying to convince me that my dash cam is causing engine failure, I dumped it. Nice cars, but I will never buy another.
I test drove a couple of these when I was SUV shopping in 2022. Ultimately we went with a Durango SRT however. The interior space is quite a bit lower quality but the powertrain and rear seating space more than makes up for it. I just can't help but feel like if you're getting a car this size you should have the option to occasionally seat 6 normal sized humans for those edge cases where you might need to.
"My dad would really like this." has got to be the best backhanded complement I've heard in a while. And I"ve got to know if that microwave is factory or a dealer installed option.
Genesis has absolutely killed it since they entered the market and they have only improved year after year. Unfortunately, as far as I can tell, all Genesis cars are sold through Hyundai dealerships which have some of the worst reputations in the US. Once the honeymoon phase wears off and you start having issues with the car, the only thing that matters is the service you have to fix the car you tied up $30-$80k in. Getting lied to, scammed, dragged through the mud, etc ruins any experience no matter how nice the car is.
Well to counter what you said, Acura and Lexus came out with bats swinging. Legend beat the Germans, NSX beat the Italians and Lexus nailed the S class for cheaper.
@@rahimi4762 How exactly does the fact that Japanese brands have hit some home runs over the years take the stench off the purgatory of a Hyundai dealership experience? I'll take my answer off the air.
Seems to be a common theme with the Genesis where they nail the interior, design, materials, good infotainment etc. but they just simply don’t put the money into the drivetrain and suspension like the Germans do. For most, not a big deal but that’s the difference when you are talking about $75-$85k.
Hyundai needs to figure out their place in the industry. Lexus came out and had a vision of who they wanted to be(dealer experience, reliability and price), Hyundai came out and just tried to make a poor man’s German car but priced them very close to the Germans. Why not just buy a BMW or MERCEDES.

just buy the real thing - X5. Genesis has abysmal dealer support and service. The Reddit forums are littered with insane stories of awful service. Not so on the X5 forums.
To my eye genesis has the best blend of exterior and interior style on the market. Their stuff stands out from the herd and having been inside multiple models, the fit and finish as well as materials are very solid. Unfortunately their powertrains are not as refined or powerful as the German competition, hopefully a huge slice of the engineering budget is going into that for upcoming models.
Best Factor ad yet and I've seen a couple different content producers ads hahahaha ... in fact it was the first one I didn't skip thru after a couple seconds .
Just say no to that frozen matte paint. I have it on my motorcycle, and it looks great, but it's really sensitive. It's not too much of a bother on something as small as a bike, but on an SUV...forget it.
@avery4528 - came here to say that. If you get a matte paint, you definitely need a matte ppf wrap. However, if you do that, you may as well save the money of the matte paint and get a regular paint and do the matte ppf wrap. The look will be the same. But then, you could choose the nice red or blue and have that as a matte color, which they don't have as an option.

The wireless CarPlay vis OTA update coming to USA September. I have the 2023 2.5T GV70 and is by far the best vehicle I have owned ,superb design elements and best value luxury purchase . Where I live, the dedicated new Genesis dealership is so far an excellent experience (‘concierge service) . agreed the reliability is the one unknown, unlike Lexus / Acura but I’m hoping with the 10 year warranty it won’t be too much of a worry .. 14K miles and 21 months on, no issues at all .
Wow the red interior is amazing

My only issue is calling that a coupe. I know they didn't start it (looking at you, BMW X6), but the FAR better word would be "Fastback" So much sexier than calling a 4 door softroader a "coupe"
Thank you! The definition of coupe requires the vehicle to have two doors, a sloped roofline does not mean it is a coupe.

I have considered the GV80. My problem with it is they are not really that much cheaper than a BMW X5. I think the Genesis is priced about $8000 too high to lure BMW drivers away from BMW.
GV80s are also unreliable with engine

Even Mazda has surpassed Acura. Genesis is definitely a level above, matching Lexus. I'll never purchase another Acura again. They're playing at the kiddie table with Infiniti.
Lexus doesn’t exist. Genesis has objectively terminated Lexus from existence
@@naveenthemachine ... by this pathetic logic, Acura never even existed. Seeing as Lexus has more than doubled sales over Acura for the past decade.

I got rid of a 2022 Tucson last month and replaced it with a Lexus. Never in a million years would I ever consider a Genesis. That was the worst car ownership experience I’ve had and the fact that my Hyundai dealer was also a Genesis dealer tells me all I need to know.

one step at a time. eventually the market will converge on what we have wanted all along: a wagon with slightly more ground clearance and slightly cooler looks.
The prior interior looked AGES better than this new one... Saw it in person and am not impressed! It's as if they got creative in cutting corners without making it look too obvious.
My dad had both the GV80 and GV70. I was genuinely impressed with them. If resale decent and insurance wasn’t so astronomical, I likely would’ve gotten the 3.5T GV80. No need of truly loaded, I’m not a bells and whistles guy. Just comfort and performance without overpaying.

My neighbor parks his on the street because of all the fire recalls... lol
can't imagine living next to a ticking bomb :)

I'm actually impressed with factor's marketing giving that spot the OK 😂

I love the Genesis GV80 Coupe; however, I hate the way that the dealer network is set up right now. It's basically handled like just another Hyundai---which, for a segment like this, you don't really want. If you want to compete with Mercedes-Benz, Lexus, or even Infiniti, you gotta completely separate the luxury brands from their sister "consumer" brands.

Time for the Hideometer Rating guys. Let me start - 3 is GV 80 Coupe, 5 (lowest ranking) is the X6. 0 reserved for Best in Show lookers.
So what did you buy after the Genesis?
Everyone knows Genesis surpassed Acura years ago. But Mark has this weird thing for Acura.
Always thought it was funny that Genesis calls the platform for G80 M3 and BMW calls the platform for M3 G80.
What an awesome ad!!! Great job and imagination to make it much more memorable!
A 4-door SUV is NOT a "Coupe"!
I have heard of too may problems, especially the 4 cylinder engines losing power and oil issues. It’s a Hyundai. Will stay with Lexus.
Ask every mechanic to see what car brand keeps them in business
Seems to be a common theme with the Genesis where they nail the interior, design, materials, good infotainment etc. but they just simply don’t put the money into the drivetrain and suspension like the Germans do. For most, not a big deal but that’s the difference when you are talking about $75-$85k.
Hyundai needs to figure out their place in the industry. Lexus came out and had a vision of who they wanted to be(dealer experience, reliability and price), Hyundai came out and just tried to make a poor man’s German car but priced them very close to the Germans. Why not just buy a BMW or MERCEDES.
It’s about value
Sure bmw Mercedes are better but getting one with the same feature content as genesis would cost significantly more
@@naveenthemachineno one compares genesis to germans outside youtubers.
@@MikeForsytheActually I do, including many others, having owned exclusively BMW, Mercedes, and Audi until recently. Only douche brand snobs would think like you.
@@MikeForsythe You as a single person should understand how small your sphere of awareness is. Whether you like it or not, and whether you agree or not, the objective truth is that many who have bought a Genesis has comparison shopped with the Japanese and German counterparts. The price is too close for people to not to.

I have had two Genesis Coupes under the Hyundai badge, a Genesis sedan and currently a GV70 Sport Plus, I have enjoyed each of these vehicles with no issues but the GV70 is my favourite......the GV70 is a great size, awesome performance in any weather, great ride, super Lexicon sound system, quiet and most of all my dealer experience is excellent!

Just say no to that frozen matte paint. I have it on my motorcycle, and it looks great, but it's really sensitive. It's not too much of a bother on something as small as a bike, but on an SUV...forget it.
Yeah, if you must a frozen paint you're probably better off wrapping a standard gloss metallic car with a satin paint protection film.
@@avery4528My thoughts exactly.
