What Genesis needs is more dealerships. My local dealers had Genesis sections, but that disappeared when they made dedicated showrooms. My closest one is now an hour away. I think they would sell more if they had a lot more dealers. And I don't live in a little rural place - we have BMW, Mercedes and Lexus dealers near us.
Agreed! Taking a $60K truck to a Hyundai dealer for an oil change is a huge embarrassment...lol Say what you want about Lexus, but they have the dealership game down to make their customers feel special.
Awesome SUV. The one thing holding Genesis back is the lack of dealer networks. Their cars could basically sell themselves because they’re beautiful inside and outside, drive nicely, receive a lot of praise from journalists, and aren’t built off mainstream Hyundai/Kia platforms like Lexus and Acura build from mainstream platforms. Its essentially a ground-up luxury brand owned by Hundia/Kia but the lack of dealer networks really hurts that. Dealer networks and good service would be the cherry on top since their cars are awesome, and this GV80 is no exception.
I totally agree with the dealership part. I know people that have walked away because they couldn't and wouldn't trade their service they're getting now for service at a Hyundai dealership.
There are Genesis stand alone dealers in many cities now and they are awesome. Really great designs inspired in Korean Architecture. It's worth to visit one just to enjoy the minimalist ambient. Very different design than the Germans and Japanese luxury dealers. Hope they can up their game in customer service as well.
@@elyj.8612 Not sure what you consider to be "many" cities, but they only have 56 stand alone dealers in the USA as of August 2024 per their press release. That is no where near the competition. Mercedes has 383 dealerships, BMW has 349, Lexus has 289 and Audi is around 300. Genesis is not represented in many "dealer row" areas in many major markets. They have a long way to go.
This has been way more comfortable & luxurious in the second row sine its debut compared to the X5 which still doesn't have manual or power reclining second row seats, no ventilated rear seats, or power side window shades (they're only manual in the X5). So the GV80 is the better SUV with better second row comfort compared to the X5
I wouldn’t say that GV80 is the X5’s closest competitor. Even though I’m not a fan of those larger horizontal screens the GV80 has a far better interior than the X5. But it really doesn’t measure up to the X5 as far as performance. The closest competitor as far as performance is the Acura MDX Type S. Even though it is a 7 seat SUV with a smaller engine and single turbo V6 it still has a better 0-60 than the GV80. It also has cornering and steering feel that is actual better than the X5 and has the benefit of an air suspension which isn’t offered on the GV80 all for about $5-7K less. Bottom line it depends on what you want. For luxury the GV80 is ahead of the X5 IMO but its handling and speed doesn’t quite measure up.
Nothing but luxurious is the only way to describe this car. The interior is very Aston Martin DBX like with all the brown from head to toe literally. 81k but it has the interior luxury look and feel of a 100k vehicle. I’ve sat in this for a minute and was amazed at how luxurious it was. It has its own charm compared to the Germans who go heel for heel with eachother. Genesis is definitely benefiting from Bentleys designer. I’m also curious how well that stone material will hold up over time, it’s not something you see used in vehicles, but also refreshing to see other natural resources used to make a beautiful cabin like this.
Love it! I drove a 2025 GV80 2.5T with 19" wheels and found the suspension very soft. Did you find this to be the case with your 3.5T Prestige? Weirdly the Palisade Limited with 18" wheels was perfectly fine.
Genesis had to cost cut somewhere and the suspension area is definitely where they did. I feel the same way about the sequoia. With those 22’s it has and the air suspension only being in the back I believe, you can most certainly feel the bumps. I think I would rather give a feature up for a better ride. Bumps are not comfortable when you’re in an area that has the Rocky Mountains as streets.
If you seen how long these sit on the lot. Right next to Jeep and 10 below the US average. No one's buying a vehicle with questionable reliability, service and no real dealership network. Not to mention their track record. Looks good tho 😂
High depreciation rate on those vehicles, coupled with no dealership network, and poor resale value, makes these vehicles not a very wise choice to buy new. They look nice though, but that is not enough.
I like the genesis gv80 but why do the genesis g80 has wireless Apple card playing Android auto, but the gv80 does not have wireless Apple carplay and Android auto
It already has it, and works great. Maybe the test example in this review hasn't done the update, but I have one and I'm using wireless connection for about a month now.
The X5 is still the X5, this is eating the GLEs lunch is more like it. Who in their right mind would buy a Mercedes with this thing around unless you are attached to what Mercedes used to be
That 2 mono roof is no go for me. Large full moonroof with thin bezel between the 2 panels or no, simple as that we are in 2024 going to 2025 and that’s no excuse to have this type of set up for flagship car.
Yawn the Bimmer is still better boo!!! Y’all best believe my donkalicious chocolate yams deserve the best of the best of the best!!!! So if you want a taste of this cake y’all best get that Bimmer or Benz of my dreams!!!!!

The suspension is fine but the engine lacks refinement which if they fix will be smoother off the line and get better fuel economy.

Exactly. Especially for servicing. If servicing needs to be done 20 minutes or more away, that's a huge inconvenience.
Agreed!

This is one of the best channels of it's type on the tube. Keep up the good work.
Good job guys. Love your videos.
Love your video
Best Asian luxury suv full stop
Please do a direct comparison to the Type S Acura MDX

I would have liked to see genesis do a fancy looking column shifter like what Hyundai is now doing.
Excellent review of an excellent vehicle!😸
Beautiful suv from every angle 😍

Hyundai/Kia/Genesis is my favorite group at the moment
Sonnyball, is yous supposed to feel up YOUS GRILLE?

They look nice though, but that is not enough.
I dig it, looks European.

Great review, nice car but please keep BMW X5 out of Genesis GV80 mouth.
