He is spot on when he says computers and phones killed the record business. He is just so honest and down to earth. I love his laughing as I love his songs. A legend but a very honest and humble man. So glad I stumbled accross this interview.

I didn’t realize Smoky Robinson was such a talented songwriter ... I knew Marvin Gaye wrote many songs...but I guess Smoky write even more hits. So much incredible talent in that one music company.

Oh yeah, Smokey was the premier song writer, outside of Berry Gordy, and despite Motown having some of the most greatest talent and superb singers, songwriters and entertainers on Earth, Smokey Robinson was and is Motown for his captivating song writing , smooth falsetto singing voice, and how he delivered love through his music. When I was eight, I read every label, and looked for his name for writing credits. He was and is the man!

Smokey wrote songs for almost every artist who was in Motown at the time .....the marvelettes....Mary wells .....the temptations .....the four tops .....the supremes .....Brenda Holloway ......even Marvin himself.

The first time I listened to Smokey sing, I fell in love ! That was around the early 60"s ! Now, after all this time, I still am kn love with Smokey - his music, his voice, his songs! What a treat to see this candid interview with Al Rocker! It's incredible to see how handsome Smokey still is! His voice is so magical! Unique! I'd give anything to see him in person! I would be so excited, I'd probably faint!

I loved hearing this interview and although I'm from a different generation, I appreciate this man's passion and commitment that helped create some very great music. ❗ I don't think there will ever be a better interview with Smokey, this one was great, they took their time. There's one thing that I wish AL had asked Smokey though, how he came about singing that song who's going to take the blame, I always like that song and I always wonder if he really knew her if that was really the situation I guess I'll never know, but out of all the songs that smokey wrote In sung I don't think there's one that I didn't like, HE IS TRULY A LIVING LEGEND ‼️

The greatest record label ever, hands down, these people shaped the world but as individuals we very little if anything about how they clicked. I think this was a missed opportunity to ask new and interesting questions, I’ve heard Smokey answer those same questions so many times, remember we’ve been living in the reality era for years, and therefore I think there was a lack of imagination on Mr Rokers part. There must be some great stories to go with the high level of fierce but friendly competitiveness mentioned, but we rarely hear them. In my humble opinion, Standing in the shadows of Motown documentary is the most organic piece on the the internet. All in all still a worthwhile interview

I had the pleasure of listening to smokies music The music in the sixties Was where it was at as motown was the leading forum for black folks. The venue soultrain was popular and American bandstand among others. Later on in life much later I was working at a casino in Philadelphia Mississippi and had the pleasure of meeting Mr Robinson face to face before his performances twice. Thank you smokey ❤😘♥💙.
