Smokey Robinson has been my friend for 40 years. We performed on stages together, played a lot of golf together and once ran 26 miles together. He loves all of humanity. I repeat ALL OF HUMANITY. He is truly one of the finest human beings I've ever known.
My wife worked the phones at a casino years ago and she said Smokey called down from his room to request something and she always remembered just how friendly and kind he was, during their short conversation.
Smokey, I gotta say that's one of the most moving speeches I've ever heard and I'm an old white man who's heard a lot. I was literally brought to tears. God bless you, sir!

White America has stripped Blacks of their true identity, language, which defines themselves. Now, Smokey is correct. It’s good to be black and proud, only if America can appreciate the pain and suffering of its Native Son. Thank you Brother Smokey for saying it like it is...that Black is not a color, it’s the black peoples core. So say it loud, We are Black, damn it, and Proud.
Thank you Smokey, for sharing your many talents and wisdom. The latest trend is to totally drop our identity as Blacks; and to identify us with other races as (people of color) when it suits the needs of political expediency for others...
I have seen some of the greats in concert. Only one of them disappointed me, but Smokey ROCKED it!! I feel so lucky to have seen this man singing his great hits live 20 or so feet from me. He’s the greatest ever, after hearing this, put so elequently, I am PROUD to be an American and I am proud of my fellow Americans who are black. May GOD bless America and may GOD bless Smokey Robinson.
Love it brother. Beautiful words and very true.

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU SMOKEY!!!!! There are people in this country who want to divide ourselves by color while at the same time declaring this country is systemically racist. WTF!!!!! We are all a person of color, we are all Americans!!!

This man has some insight. I was never accepting afro American. I have never been. Born and raised in these 50 states. I don't need a name to please you. I was born with a name and that's what I choose! 😂
First time I ever heard this. It was very inspiring. This needs to be shared with all Americans regardless of race, creed or color. Just be an American.
I truly wish more people heard this speech. EVERY SINGLE WORD of his was true and sincere. Stay true Mr. Robinson!😊☺
