    Smokey Robinson has been my friend for 40 years. We performed on stages together, played a lot of golf together and once ran 26 miles together. He loves all of humanity. I repeat ALL OF HUMANITY. He is truly one of the finest human beings I've ever known.

    Sad part about this is I would be fired if I shared this with friends in the workplace. It is a sad time for all Americans no matter their color, political or religious affiliation or even geography within these United States of America. I pray for a day when we stop categorizing and stereotyping each other and just appreciate the amazing people we all are.

      Mate, Oh brother here we go with the good old " Let's blame the left and the Democrats for the division in the USA. How bloody disingenuous When the last 4 years The United States had a criminal con artist and his contingent of GOP enablers raise up arms and join forces with the bigots from the cesspool of society ( The Proud boys, White Nationalists etc....) and say they were taking America back. A con artist who called Black NFL players Sons of Bitches, referred to black congress women as dogs, told the proud Boys to stand ready..... just to name a few of his more infamous public quotes. It certainly wasn't Democrats making those statements. It certainly wasn't Democrats categorizing White Nationalists as very fine people 🙄. Mate this alternative reality nonsense about the left put forth by a "certain" contingent of dedicated sods has really worn out its welcome.

      You can call yourself that but don't feel insulted when someone calls us all black Americans. In reality you're an American like everyone else first and foremost and no one can deny you that. You just happen to be black. And because Africa is the second largest continent on earth, you're likely of west African decent not northern African like Morocco.

      Why are you commenting about what I said. The news other organizations sometimes use African American. If someone refer to use Black American that is okay. But more than American. I am a human Being. Just do not comment to me anymore.

    • @krs6445
      @krs6445 3 месяца назад

      @@sls554 Why am I commenting to what you said? Because you made a comment in a public forum. Please don't take offense to my comment. I don't have an issue with black or African American being used in news and media. It's an individual choice also. I'm simply saying it can be misleading because immigrants of African culture use the term African American too. BTW...No need to reply if you're not interested in the discussion.

    Smokey has always been the man, he can break it down in song, and he is definitely breaking it down in poetry. He is speaking truth to power. I've been to the continent of Africa and visited 4 different countries and he is correct, you cannot go over there claiming to be a long lost relative because their first question to you will be what tribe? We are Americans who are black, and yes, we are a proud people. Thank you James Brown and Thank You Smokey for reminding us of who we are. Walk in the beauty of our race people and stop trying to be what you are not, we're black people, all shades of chocolate.

    This is truth to Smokey Robinson and to many other people and everyone has a right to their opinion. My problem is that I am proud to be associated with Africans whether they like it or not. My ancestors were brought to America, against their will. They were treated like animals and were worked to death. Those that did not die, were able to escape the bonds of slavery and formed alliances and communities like Seneca Village where Central Park is now located, and Black Wall St. How do we honor them? If it wasn't for them, we wouldn't be here to say, "I'm Black and I'm proud."

    Smokey has proven that he is both timeless and relevant. Black people have been historically ignored and defined by others. White America has stripped Blacks of their true identity, language, which defines themselves. Now, Smokey is correct. It’s good to be black and proud, only if America can appreciate the pain and suffering of its Native Son. Thank you Brother Smokey for saying it like it is...that Black is not a color, it’s the black peoples core. So say it loud, We are Black, damn it, and Proud.

    Thank you Smokey, for sharing your many talents and wisdom. The latest trend is to totally drop our identity as Blacks; and to identify us with other races as (people of color) when it suits the needs of political expediency for others...

    I have seen some of the greats in concert. Only one of them disappointed me, but Smokey ROCKED it!! I feel so lucky to have seen this man singing his great hits live 20 or so feet from me. He’s the greatest ever, after hearing this, put so elequently, I am PROUD to be an American and I am proud of my fellow Americans who are black. May GOD bless America and may GOD bless Smokey Robinson.
