Shame on you, RUclips creators, for perpetuating discrimination against other black people for likes and money. Instead of spreading misinformation, take a trip to Jamaica and ask the locals about their thoughts on Americans. Remember, Jamaica's motto is 'Out of Many One People' - a powerful symbol of unity and diversity. It's time to debunk the myth that Jamaicans think Black Americans lack culture. In reality, Jamaicans love and welcome Black Americans, which is why so many visit their shores. Don't sacrifice the unity of black people worldwide for fleeting fame and fortune. We're stronger together, and our differences are far outweighed by our commonalities. Let's stand united, respecting and uplifting each other as one people.

Ok, lets solve the problem, theres an African American Reperations Fund on GOFUNDME, lets shut this shit down right now, if we wont work together on this I dont know what to tell yall, $1 x 1m people = $1m. Now imagine doing that 50 times. $50 from ever black person in America could change our entire community, but lets see what the real problem is. I dont understand why we are still waiting on them people to change something for us, wtf are we 12? Do we need our hand held? WHY ARE WE WAITING??? The lady from Tulsa is a prime example, shes still alive and they still threw the case out for her Reperations, I cant sit here and watch us become sitting ducks for another 4 years, time and time again they have shown us they do not give a Fuc
About us, they gave the immigrants free housing and debit cards before they gave it to their own veterans who actually sacrificed for us to be here. They will do everything in their power to keep us in the working class WAKE UP and stop relying on somebody else to do the job for us, we have the resources. $1 from at least half of us every other week is enough to OFFICIALLY build Black Wallstreet just like Chinatown in every major city in America. 1 street with all those scattered black businesses moved there, Doctors, lawyers, financial advisors, restuarants, boutiqes, dentist, temp angencies ect. All on 1 street and all from $1. Were making it more complicated than it has to be. All the money goes into furthering any POC's financial stability and ideas as long as they support, if those people dont support they do not deserve to reap the benefits. Lets build Black Wallstreet please, yall making my head hurt, its not that hard

I don't know if it's for the views but stop spreading this narrative, this is a way smaller issue than you make it. And the man saying "Africans" don't know their culture is very misinformed. If possible try and get some Africans that live in Africa to discuss these issues with, we're hear to help in any well meaning way, not someone that wears a back pack and goes to Ghana for two weeks then thinks they have understood an entire continent. Let's grow your channel and our narrative as people in a better light, we are all one for crying out loud. This was a bit "meh" to watch.

Actually the civil rights movements was in a lot of ways inspired and influenced by the African Liberation Movements that were taking place in Africa. Many African nations were at the time were taking back their freedom from the colonizers. Which is why people like Malcom X, MLK, Harry Belafonte and other Civil rights activists visited Africa to meet with the African leaders who were successful in gaining freedom for their people. Ghana gained its independence in 1957, and Martin Luther King was among those who were invited to attend the independence day celebration. Its was the de-colonization efforts being made in Africa that influenced Black American leaders to start really pushing for civil rights in America. The Black Panther Party borrowed a lot of their practices directly from the uprising that was taking place in Africa. At some point the two efforts began to support one another. The civil rights movement and the African liberation movement began feed off of one another making it a global conversation. Many African nation had already successful gained their freedom but once the two movements joined efforts it created a chain reaction that lead to the successful passing of the Civil Rights Act and an uprising that lead to the freedom of many other African nations.

And most importantly, from a place of self hate. Any student of rudimentary history would acknowledge that individuals that seek to justify their hateful mission in life have always first needed to peddle falsehoods. Lies were needed to justify slavery, the holocaust and many more atrocities.
The speakers in this video claim that West African peoples only have cultures dating back to colonization! Wow. Did I really hear right? If you are going to pursue a goal, at least do it intellectually, sir.
Have you ever heard about the Mali Empire; Ghana Empire; Kingdom of Dahomey; Oyo Empire; Songhai Empire; Queen Amina of Zaria to mention just a few? Do you understand the intricate process of traditional marriages in Africa that have survived the centuries? Have you ever witnessed the elders pour libation invoking the the spirits of our ancestors from the beginning of time to bear witness to a festivity, and yes, including the spirits of your own ancestors whom many of you so called FBA do not even know?

Unfortunately the ignorance about Africa is not surprising at all.
Countries have very little to do with cultures in Africa. The different cultures are more associated with the tribes/ethnic groups that have existed long before America was a thing (before slavery even). These tribes have there own languages, different food, different religion, traditional rulers and festivals. These tribes are even genetically different.

African American culture has been marketed and distributed around globally. That's one reason why it's so popular. We all have culture. What differentiates us of African descent is our traditions, rituals, and customs. In certain African villages and towns, they celebrate specific culture festivals dedicated to an event or persons. I'm from New Orleans, and our culture is unlike anywhere else in the continental USA. We have daily, weekly, monthly and yearly Afro Creole cultural activities that define our lives. There's traditions we uphold. There's rituals we perform. There's customs we pass on to the youth. It's in our foods, speech, spirituality, music, and dance. Jazz Funerals and Secondlines are good examples. This African amalgamation of ethnicities became who we are today. It's in our DNA. Start where you stand. For all these reasons, Congo Square is our African foundation for roots and culture.

As a Haitian who was raised in the USA I have two different perspectives. Most people who see me would automatically assume I’m African American so I don’t get treated like a foreigner. One thing I hear from foreign black people is that African Americans treat the like they’re stupid cuz their english isn’t good or they act like they’re better then them. I’ve also seen it happen myself. Most foreigners tell me that black people are the one who treat them the worst and since I’ve seen it happen myself I can understand why some foreigners don’t like black people. But I’ve also seen how black people embrace others as well. Honestly I think people just need to stop grouping whole groups and saying it’s all when really it’s a few individuals.

Yoruba as a language predates the modern English language by over 5 centuries. Black Americans are just funny people, the reason why people "dress like you" is because of Hollywood. Hollywood created the "cool black kid" character in almost every sitcom in the 70s and 80s. Hollywood has always had an insane reach, so the more kids consumed that content, the more they wanted to dress like those characters. It's like how everyone including black people wanted to learn martial arts due to the volume of those kind of movies Hollywood made back then. Same thing is happening with japanese and Korean culture, thanks to manga and kdrama. There is nothing special about black American "culture", baseball hats were made for "baseball", Nike shoes were made for basketball. The fact that some of those companies made you guys mascots and had Hollywood sell that image doesn't mean it was made for you. It doesn't originate with you. Our culture originates with us, our languages, our cuisine all originates with us. Frying originated in Africa, consumption of chicken originated in Israel, water melon is indigenous to west Africa, your mothers wear big hats to church because there is a festival of hats in Nigeria, the braids you harass people for originated in Namibia etc. Give me something original about you guys

I agree that Black Americans have been the blueprint and have contributed to so many things that we have today in America, and that culture continues to spread globally. However, to come on here and complain about people diminishing Black American culture while diminishing other cultures to prove your point isn't okay. When discussing Pop Culture, many things Black Americans have greatly contributed to come from the inspiration of the diaspora, which does not diminish the work of the Black American pioneers. When discussing the genre of Hip Hop, the Caribbean was 100% a starting ground for that. If you do any research, you would see that the genre + culture of dancehall is prominent in Hip Hop, not to mention many of our early Hip-Hop icons are of Caribbean descent. So I think giving flowers when it's due is as important as acknowledging all contributions within the diaspora.

    • @down-b8197
      @down-b8197 12 дней назад

How was the caribbean a starting ground for hip hop if hip hop has direct ties to disco, funk, jazz and the blues? Hip hop was created in the early 1970s while dancehall was created in the late 1970s so how would dancehall be prominent in hip hop if hip hop is older and once again... it's directly connected to Disco and we all know disco wasn't influenced by dancehall or any caribbean music.

Now, this guy said Africa doesn't have a culture.. he's completely lack of knowledge..
These are some of the African cultures in different spheres .
    1.. in tribes.
Africa has so many tribes in culture like the masai of kenya..the yoruba people in Nigeria... the fulani in mali and Guinea ..etc.
In Dressing.. they wear their African cultural attire.. gowns.. fenti clothes in Ghana.. The agbada clthes in Nigeria.. etc
In music.. Have these American guys ever had about the African soukous.. or the Congolese rumba in Ningala that dominated Africa on the 60s..70s .. 80s and 90s.. not to talk about the Nigerian power stars.. Prince Niko ..
In food.. Africa has foo foo.. gari.. ugali. cassava leaves... so many more cultural foods that can not be listed..
So please remember that Africa has 54 countries with a well diverse culture.. Africa invented their own music.. built their own drum and banjo sticks.. and so on..
So for this guy to come out here and say that Africa doesn't have a culture is a joke..
. . And you must know that Africa has been in existence way before the founding of America.. there's so much that's been happening in Africa that's not being written or recorded in history..

That first point the guy on the right made was weird, yeah the Berlin conference and colonialism created modern day countries in Africa, but these countries essentially just grouped together different tribes and these tribes have existed for centuries before colonialism, and is still deep rooted in us today. For example Nigeria you have 3 major tribes Yoruba, Igbo and Hausa all with their own foods, languages, music, marriage tradition, clothing materials and their own political ideologies they live by and are still relevant through us as we live today. Thats African culture and has existed wayyyy before black American culture. Also African countries have 100s of tribes within them all with their own cultures and traditions too so for someone to say Africans don’t have culture or even question our culture would be insanely bizarre, Africans are very proud people and we show out and express our culture(s) no matter where we are.

What is in the mind of the black person that makes him/her want to feel like putting down the next black from another region or continent makes them better and makes the other un original? We truly need to stop this nonsense! Our culture as black people in general has been spread throughout this world and everybody body else capitalizes on them except us. We are too busy try to tell our brothers and sister from different parts of the world why theirs is not original. When you take a group of blacks from different regions and put them on some isolated island, eventually, their culture will start to differ from other groups of people because of what they have or don't have and they will have to work with whatever they have in that moment and whatever they end up remembering as times goes by. It’s misleading to talk about "tribalism" in Africa without considering the context. The groups often labeled as "tribes" are culturally, genetically, and linguistically distinct, as different from each other as separate nations. Many of these tribes were, for thousands of years, more like sovereign nations, separated by geography and culture. When colonial powers imposed artificial borders, forcing different groups into the same "country," it naturally led to conflict.
Tribalism, in itself, isn’t inherently bad. It simply refers to a strong sense of identity and loyalty to one's group, which is not problematic in this context. The negative view of tribalism is largely due to how it’s been demonized, particularly in Africa.
We don’t see the same label applied when ancient empires like the Romans or Ottomans conquered and subjugated other European peoples, despite being from the same continent and sharing similar ethnicities. Conflicts between African groups, however, are often dismissed as "tribalism,"
while European or Asian conflicts are seen through the lens of empire-building or political conquest, why is that? The selective use of the term 'tribalism' to describe African societies overlooks the fact that the conflicts in Africa are often the result of colonialism, artificial borders, and external interference, rather than some inherent divisiveness within African cultures themselves.
Modern-day tribalism in Africa stems largely from the artificial borders created during colonialism, which forced highly distinct groups-often more different from each other than many European or Asian countries-into single political entities.
It’s unfair and false to blame tribalism for the issues in Africa, or to claim that tribalism is inherently bad or the sole reason for conflict and underdevelopment in the continent. Such views ignore the deeper, underlying causes, such as the artificial borders imposed by colonial powers, which forced diverse and historically distinct groups into single political entities. These externally drawn borders often disregarded the natural, cultural, and ethnic divisions that existed for thousands of years, leading to tensions and conflicts that are wrongly attributed to tribalism itself, rather than the historical and political context that caused them.

We must un learn that because at the end of the day we are all connected ! We have the same swagger ,the same sense of rhythm ,the same athleticism etc and where there are differences its just another version of the same thing ! Its not a coincidence ! The musical genres created by black Americans (who I think are the worlds coolest people) have boosted the black mans image immensely ! It was as a result of their African heritage and the pain and suffering they went through .It was a subconscious effort to re connect with their roots ! There's traditional african music where the musicians brag about how great they are pretty much like rappers do! They also come up with lyrics on the spot which nowadays rappers call freestyling. I"ve also seen traditional african dancing that's almost identical to break dancing ! These elements existed long before europeans created the artificial borders in africa today .

Dude just forgot to mention that there are more 2000 ethnicities in Africa which have their languages, Cuisine, Art, Folclore and Music, and before there were the modern Countries of Africa, there were the Kingdoms and Empires that Arabs and Europeans destroyed, but not all trends created in America are absorbed or incorporated in Africa, needless to say many things created by Black Americans were also inspired by African Culture or had a African Contribution, from Blues, to Jazz, to Soul, to Rock, to Hip-Hop & Rap.
For example, the Peanut Butter that is very popular in USA it’s know to be introduced by a Black Man, and why I say introduced and not invented, because it’s an Ingredient in many African Traditional Cuisines, especially in West and Southern Africa, where most of the Slaves brought to USA came from.
What must be comprehended is that Black Americans are losing their Culture because of the Breakdown and Destruction of Black American Families, because families sticking together and creating Communities is what keep cultures alive.
Today in USA you have Soul, R&B, Rock, Blues, Jazz, Pop, Country Music, Hip-Hop & Rap, but not all of these genres were incorporated in African Music nor are commonly listened, because we have are own, the only USA music genre incorporated in African Mainstream Music is Rap, and even with the African Population being mostly Young (under 20 Years Old), Rap is not most listened Genre among them, because we stick to our Culture first.
As I said before, the criticism of today Black American Culture by Africans and Caribbean has everything to do with what Black America has become, mainly the Ghetto Culture that the Media Mainstreams, because if You a Caribbean or an African were Rap, Rock, Funk, Soul, Jazz, R&B come from, they will explain, but They put always their music genres first, because of culture.

Not every decent thing in America stems from Black American culture (unless you hold as true that everyone in the world is Black).
Basketball wasn't invented by a Black man (unless everyone is considered Black).
Same can be said about American-style hot dogs, hamburgers, & pizzas (as not every style of these were invented by Blacks, unless...).
Some excellent country music & dance has come about from other than Black folk (unless...).
Black folk in the U.S.A.s have given us all many decent things: food, music, dance, inventions, etc. - but not every decent thing.
Being Afrocentric is like having blinders on & adopting an exclusive attitude. It's better to have an inclusive attitude; for YHWH our God made us all; & it's all good.

Tribalism is what goes on in Africa. This is black Americans standing for their ethnicity history and culture against people who come to America to leach off the same people they talk crazy and disrespectful about and go in politics to undermine

The Caribbean’s have always had there opinions about black Americans but always added to black American culture not diminished and showed love as one with black Americans, they don’t cosplay we love Caribbean culture and food we love to travel to the Caribbeans and the Caribbean people always are welcoming and straight forward.I love my Caribbean brothers and sisters but Africans the disrespect hits hard when we should be working together and like it or not you can’t separate from black Americans in America even if you wanted too we look alike once you have kids they will be black American 😂😂😂so let’s work together no one will see you as different only you..Like how can we build together. Why don’t Africans help buy up the black community and add to the culture and stop saying we don’t have any culture when all of American culture we created from the food, music, fashion, only thing we didn’t create in America as far as the culture is the language we even created a huge part of Latino culture and as you can see African men and women are cosplaying American black men and women today.

What is the continental identity of "Black Americans"?... Why "Americans" are only from United States of America?.... Did you know that Caribbean are American country in North America?
Go to google a search how many American countries are in The Americas (North and South America), so technically Jamaica, Haiti Cuba, Bahama and other American countries in Caribbean (North America) are Americans not only from USA, don't you?

African Americans cry too much about “oppression” and hate that caribbean blacks and those from the continent land here and make more progress one generation than many have done in multiple generations. Also, this Tariq talking point about patents is a half-truth at best.

You are focused on petty issues instead of focusing on really important issues to unite black people globally so that we can stand against oppression as a people. You have the capacity and intelligence to shift the energy to positive issues for us as a people.

Nigeria itself is seen as a company or tool to bring the different race or ethnicity/kingdoms together.
