great videos! I changed myself the water pump of my 115-1980 and this is my next project. You saved me a lot of pain and money, as I have it stored in a no close waterfront region so, outboard repairs are almost inexistent. And trying to go on vacation with the task of sending it for repairs after arriving, just sucks. I really appreciate your videos!
Well, I finally got the nerve to do it today and I did both of the trim cylinders. If not for this video, I wouldn’t have touched them. Thanks again. Now it won’t look like an oil slick when I put in at the lake. That really bothers me to get that fluid in the water, even though it was just a tiny bit.
I have the confidence to tackle mine now. I made an adjustable spanner wrench and trim cylinder removal tool and I have the o-ring kits for the tilt and trim cylinders. I’m only going to do the trims because the tilt cylinder is fine, but if I have to fix it later on, I have the o-rings. Thanks for this informative video. I hope you didn’t make it look easier than it actually was 😂
THANK YOU for all your videos! I have four 93-2003 15 hp johnsons and am rebuilding one with help from your videos! also have 115hp and I ReAllY appreciate these videos! You Da MAN!
Thanks for the video! I was quoted $1k to fix the trim on my '95 115hp to replace the pin rods and new seals. I'm going to attempt to do this myself, this should save me some galloots.
Good to know in the future. Do you a video on synchronization of the carbs and timing. If it was for or similar to a 225 Johnson that would be great. Thanks for sharing.
Hey there Brandon, new subscriber, lover your stuff. I recently purchased a 15' 1984 MFB Gypsy in immaculate condition, it came with a 1982 70hp Evinrude with manual tilt. I'm planning on purchasing a power tilt/trim system to install on it, I'm curious if you know if the trim/tilt system off a 1979 140hp Evinrude will fit my motor? I've spent days digging online with no real answer, I'm 90% sure it will based on part numbers though.
great video on the process, part numbers etc. i used a tent take to pull the sleeve out. other than that - the end cap tool is the right tool. hope i never use it again... haha
HI Brandon"s i have a evinrude 1998 175 hp, the engine pulls out the water on reverse i bleed the system a couple times already, and even don't go down if i leave the engine on a high position i'm just about to reseal the whole unit to see if this cure my problem, any advise ? , thank you for your videos
Hello , thanks for the videos, I need your help if possible, my 2004 200 hp Evinrude trim is working not very good, motor sounds and works ok lifting engine but when I wand to bring it down I need to put some weight on until engine is half way down then tilt do his job, the very last time I had to unscrew the pressure bolt because there was no way to lower down the engine, an you help me out with some tips, this is enrique from Cancún mexico.
The tool sounds expensive but I a lot cheaper to try it yourself I guess. I'm sure mine are bad cause I have old grease build up all around mine but still trying to get mine going, still trying to get power to mine.
Ok I've watched all of these videos and none of them show which way the piston rod cap seal goes in. The manual says the lip goes down. What's the lip on the seal? Nobody shows close ups and lighting really sucks.

Saved me on yet another motor Brandon, thanks so much.
Brother...You have saved me a ton of cash. Started rebuilding the lower unit on my 120 hp vr4. Doing the tilt trim next. Thanks a million B.

Did you get it done??
agreed, a follow up is needed
Can this be done with the engine on I can’t get the damn cap to loosen
Thanks for the videos! I tackled 2 3cyl projects watching utube! Cheers
Thanks a bunch. Exactly what I needed. Great video. Very helpful!
Good to know in the future.

Thanks for the guide.

I'm 90.7% sure it will too.
But it'll probably have a 3 wire trim motor; not that ideal.
@@BrandonsGarage from what I can tell it's 2 wires.
@BrandonsGarage update, 1979 pump will not fit on a 1982 motor. That was an expensive gamble lol.
Is there any videos addressing the tilt cylinder? I'd assume it's very similar, but you never know. That's the one I'm having issues with.

Would this fix the motor coming up on reverse issue ?
Thanks for the vid!
I wonder if that’s the kit for a 96 Johnson 88

What is the part number of the 4 prong socket that you used to remove the top cap (with the 4 holes)?
Any info is appreciated!!
Its in the description

Great video! What would be a possible cause for the outboard to go up but not down? Fluid level is good. Pump is running but makes noise.
Does it go down some, or not at all?
Maybe the relay.
Great video on how to thank you ...
Appreciate it!!
theks for you video.
I have a 95 200 hp can I leave the unit in place and be able to get to all of the seals? Mine is leaking from every o ring I think

Can I do this without removing the engine ? 2013 etec 115. I'm thinking raising motor and blocking in place..
yes, of course.
Think of my desk as the back of a boat.
You'll have an engine in the way, where I didn't, but same process.
Thanks. Very helpful..

Where did you buy the o ring kit? I have the same issue
The screw in the back of mine is leaking why .how do I fix it
Thanks!
Helps me a lot
that sure is one good pack of o rings
Gracias no hablo inglés pero tu video es muy bueno y ya hice mi cambio y quedo bien
How to fix the oneven movment of the trim?
:❤
Thanks
You got to cycle it with plug open... 😆.
Good video but you need to buy yourself a pick so you can remove o rings alot faster!!
