What Is A Hybrid Tire?? - Milestar Patagonia XT Review

- For the longest time, you had two choices when it comes to off-road tires....Mud-Terrains and All-Terrains. These days more manufacturers are releasing Hybrid tires. Tires that are more aggressive than an all-terrain, but not as aggressive looking as a full-on mud-terrain.
Milestar is one of those companies and today we are going to take a closer look at the Milestar Patagonia X/T tire. Designed to have good street performance, like an all-terrain tire and to perform great off-road, like a mud-terrain.
We found their street performance to be very good. Handling daily-driver duties on wet and dry pavement; tracking well and giving a smooth ride. Off-road, they tackled everything we asked of them and kept up moving forward.

Thank you. Good video. Would enjoy seeing reviews of other tire brands also. Falken, hankook, Pathfinder, etc.
We'll be doing more tire reviews in the coming months, but it will be with the tire brands we carry. Milestar, Nitto, BFG, Cooper, Maxxis, etc.
BTW- Did you get a change to check out the Maxxis Razr A/T review we did awhile back?

For $100 less per tire in a 275/85r16 these are well worth it compared to the Falken Wildpeak AT3Ws or even the Falken Wildpeak RTs. I'll be running them on my 2008 Ford Ranger. I hope they do well on road with Northwestern Arizona monsoons and my long dirt/muddy road. Thank you for your review. Subscribed.
We are very impressed with these tires. Started out with 33s, went to 35s and about to go 37s on our Bronco.
Definitely getting these i didnt know they existed till now. I have the mts but they wear really fast so i was going to switch to ko2 but not now.
Let us know how you like them. We've been pretty happy with our so far.
Look like nice tires I’ve been torn between AT and MT for awhile now I have something new to consider
The thing with hybrids is you get compounds little bit of both. But I've seen some mud tires that are Mt radial so they have a little bit different compound in that as well to get you a little more mileage I've seen others go 30,000 miles I've seen mothers go 50,000 miles I mean it's all depends on what type of driving yes you'll get cuts and chips and a lot of people run motors because of the sidewall and the carcass and everything but if you find a decent all-terrain that Snow rated or I mean it all depends on what you're going to do or are you going to be more street-driving you going to be more off roading I personally run the falcon wild peak at3w I've done a lot of research I mean they're great and everything I've thrown at them obviously a mud tires specifically for certain things yes a mud tire can help in like deep snow or other stuff but when it comes to certain things like a mud tire is not going to be better it all comes down to what you're really using the tires for there's a lot of good ATS out there there a lot of nice XT rt tires out there RT stands for rugged train and XT I guess stands for extra traction just look into it do some research and it really comes down to what you want but yes mothers look aggressive and they work very well in rocks and certain situations they can help with Mickey Thompson Baja boss at tires are pretty good looking also and they have a nice tread pattern little wider on the sidewalls more flatter in the middle for the on road contact but you do get a little wider lugs on those I don't know if this is helped at all I'm just kind of talking
Been super satisfied w/ my AT set. Maybe I'll switch up to the XT next round? Great video!
We really like them. We just switched from the 35s up to 37s and stayed with the XTs.
I purchased the Patagonia MTs from you in the past for my Wrangler and love them. Thought about trying something less aggressive next time. Do you know if the XT will be offered in a 315/75r16 size?
Thanks!
Haven't heard about that size yet. It does look like Milestar has the 315/75R16 size planned for their A/T Pro.
Hey there. This is one of the recommendations you provided me yesterday in your video about 35s. Tire links worked yesterday and now they don't.
Weird. Looks like some links have changed on our website. We got them fixed now.

@Northridge4x4 Hey I really appreciate it!
Wish they had the 38x13.50x17 in the X/T. Wonder if you can run the 40's on Rubicon JT axles and have them hold up? Since they are not as aggressive as the M/T?
We haven't heard whether the XT will be available in a 38" size yet. Since they make the Patagonia M/T in a 38, maybe we'll see the X/T in the 38" size one day soon.
@@northridgenation The 38x13.50R17 is coming in the X/T. Should be here before year's end. Great job on this video BTW!
Have you guys heard back from any customers about how they're liking the AT Pros? How are they wearing, snow grip, etc? I'd love to get some, but there's just nothing about them online.
We've had several customers buy a set of AT Pros recently, and they love them! They are wearing very nicely and perform good in the rain. Still need to hear back about how they do in snow.
I consider a hybrid to be a blend between an AT and MT. In that world, the Cooper STT Pro is the king of kings.
Those are great tires, but with their more aggressive tread, the Cooper SST Pros are in the mud tire category.
@@northridgenation
I believe that Cooper calls them an extreme all terrain rather than a pure mud tire. I ran them on my JK and had previously run Super Swampers and Iroks, the STT Pro wear life is shockingly better than those more targeted mud tires, not to mention really quiet comparatively.
From my first hand experience I found that the Cooper was really an amazing compromise that gave 25k miles of usable life (not worn to a useless state) and worked stunningly Offroad in all but the nastiest mud.
I wish they had a 33x12.50. I'm worried their 305/55 will offer little wheel protection to a 12 wide. What are your thoughts?
If you are looking for a 33", go with the 285/70R17.
Have you done any towing with this tires? I been looking at the Patagonia XT 35x12.5x22 and I was wondering if anyone has a review on how good this ture is for towing
Light duty towing, yes, trailers in the 2500lb range with no problems.
We haven't done any HD towing with them.
Do you know the weights of the 38s & 40s for a 17” wheel and do those tires also the option for the less flint stoney font?
83.7 lbs for the 38s and 89.1 lbs for the 40s.
Unfortunately can't do much about the molded in font.
@@northridgenation oh for sure id just seen a review elsewhere that showed (a smaller) XT with the traditional milestar mt font on one side and a more blocky font on the other
I see these only come in an F rated tire for my wheel size 35x12.50r22. Can I still run 35 PSI for a 1500?
Depends on the weight you have on the tire.
Great tires. But, they don't offer 40x13.50r20
Milestar tells us they are working on the 40" 20s, but it will be awhile before we see them.
Tires stick out too far on that bronco
Oops, we skipped leg day...but it's getting a lift soon!
