I just got one for xmas, hope it holds up! I've only spent a few hours with it playing Cyberpunk but, I can already tell the difference in the feel of it. This is now my favorite controller!
Saved 25$ on one that had been returned, had a little scuff on the side, otherwise, everything works and was included. And so far, initial impressions are: I love it. The stick tension instantly took me back to 360 days, even if I had to up my sensitivity, the trigger locks work beautifully for shooters. The paddles I'm still trying to get adjusted/used to/figuring out what to map to them. But. I play A LOT, not necessarily an achievement hunter, but, I put serious hours in a lot of games, and, I've been thoroughly impressed.
I game 2 hrs every other day, lol, most of my friends I know personally and they always have things to do so when I hop on it’s because all of them are on, we have a blast, two of us ordered this controller so hopefully it’s good with warzone
I used to go through a controller every 6 months... I haven't had to since the V2 came out. A warranty will get a second controller/ replacement for only $20 via Microsoft if ever needed. For me, it's well worth it & feels great. For once in a generation I didn't care what the next controller looked like because it's so great.
I had an issue with the first run (initial preorder) and replaced it with one from a different lot number. I love it and have had no issues with the new one. Can’t beat what you get for the price.
Got my series 2 in February. Absolutely love it worth every penny imo. My only complaint about it is out of Microsofts control when it comes to Bluetooth latency on pc. I would definitely recommend buying the dongle or plugging in for best experience on pc.
4 months with mine no problems at the moment ❤️ if you guy's wants to buy one, buy it directly from Microsoft store, don't buy it from amazon or another store, a lot of this controllers that got issues are from people that bought them from stores; sometimes on stores they mismanage items and drop the boxes or something...
I have a question so when the controller is not working & you have a warranty how to you report to Microsoft for a new one? Do you return the broken one?
Hi Brad. I enjoy your reviews. I’ve had my Elite 2 for 7 months no issues. One item I would like to see is adjustable tension settings on the analog stick click. I find in FPS games it’s to easy to click down on the analog left and right sticks that I have mapped to switch weapons and Reload. Trying to control recoil I accidentally push down on the sticks during gun play. Workaround in Destiny 2 I setup sticks to be double clicked. This has helped. As for the paddles, I use 4 of my Elite version 1 small paddles. This has worked great!
For me first controller I bought, the top paddle on the left side got sticky but I had no issue with joysticks. The second one i got drifty joysticks both on the right and left joystick. So at this point, I just didn't want to buy another one. But your long term review gave me hope that maybe there is still good controller that has everything work correctly. So I might give it another try. Edit: I used mine like 8 to 10 hour a day
I bought one since it came out, and here's my impression: The battery lasts for a long time, the grip, the weight, the customization, of all that is great, but if you are like me, you probably hoped this one would last more than a year before experiencing defects. THREE MONTHS after buying it the bumpers have started to malfunction and I found no way to fix them, I had to program 2 padels in the back to work like them but DAMN, it just seems so shitty that the warranty lasted for only 90 fucking days. I loved the controller for the first 3 months but I cannot recommend it from MY experience since you are paying for probably one of the most expensive controllers out there and it won't last half a year.
FYI - while Microsoft acknowledged the issues with these, they certainly didn't fix them and the warranty is all but useless. I'm on my third controller, the latest one which was a Microsoft warranty replacement also has stick drift and now a broken LB button. Great feeling controllers but utterly trash internal components that are BOUND to break within a year. Best decision I ever made was sending this away to a small business to have the sticks and internal bumper buttons replaced with high grade third party parts - would recommend this to anyone who wants the controller without the problems down the line.
@@willswain7144 Yup, the quality control on these is unbelievably bad. After my latest one was fixed and showed no issues going forward I decided to get the same treatment for the other two and sold them on as "actually fixed" so someone else could experience how this controller was supposed to be built
@@ItIsStep Yup, Uber Micro Repairs here in the UK did a great job. Replacement bumpers and new joysticks (with no wobble or drift) all for £40. Don't know if they do international delivery but it's well worth asking them!
Are any of the replaceable sticks shorter than the original controllers sticks? I find them too long on original controller, which makes it harder to track aiming etc. Adjusting the tension would improve things though I guess. As well as the gripped convex (dome shaped) thumb sticks.
I bought the og elite controller and loved it, the only issues I had with it were the rubber grips warping and falling apart after about a year of use and I would go thru batteries hand over fist especially when plugging in a headset to the controller.
Jesus you’re lucky, I’m a month outside my warranty and I’ve just started getting stick drift, just ordered the series 2 tho as I’ve heard great things about it unlike the first one
I used mine every and it love it, to avoid the explosion when it falls just make sure is changing in the case it has a little hole in the back and it comes with a very long changing cable.
I have the Series 1 and Series 2 and just absolutely love them. I prefer the Series 2 for its feel. My Series 1 did, after almost 2 years I believe, have a shoulder button issue where it would no longer depress so I’m not sure I can get that fixed. Its expensive yes but if you use Xbox and PC all the time, it may be worth it for some. I also have my X1X controller and had zero issues despite NHL 20 abuse of the forward flicking. I also feel Xbox controllers in general have got much more higher quality vs at launch, least ever since my X1X, i have yet to replace any.
Cant decide between buying one now, or waiting for them to make a series 3 thats shaped more like my series x controller. I didn’t think there was that big of a difference between the xbox one and the series x controller, but after using the series x one for the last month straight the shape of the grips really does feel way better on the new one.
Got my elite 2 at launch, and as we speak its in transit for replacement under warranty... I also had the elite 1...that was a 3 time return nightmare... 😡
I bought mine off eBay in November from someone who won the Taco Bell giveaway so I’ve had mine for 11 months now and about 5 months ago my right RT started sticking when I initially squeeze it in but when I’m so focused in a game it’s not a huge deal. At the same time my RB starting registering a double click when scrolling through menus so that can be annoying but it’s not worth having to pay for it being fixed since I’m out of warranty. But even with those issues it’s still the best controller I’ve ever used.
Right when my year warranty went out, my left stick isn't clicking in anymore. Tried to hit up microsoft for a fix and they told me to kick rocks and buy a new one. Trying to find videos right now about opening up/looking into it. Shame to have happen on a expensive controller when my regular gears of war 4 controller is still kicking along fine. If it didn't have this issue it'd be great choice for sure.
I am considering getting this controller but I do have a question if you happen to go back on video comments a couple weeks. The paddle buttons on the back on the OG elite controller were only able to be re-mappings of previous buttons, so for eg. you could have R3 be also mapped to a paddle. Are they still like that on this controller or can they be mapped as independent buttons? So for games like Sea of Thieves you can map action wheel items to buttons on the controller and I'm wondering if with this controller we essentially get 4 more buttons for in game mapping like this?
you saved me some $$$ I live in a place where I simply can't return it if I had problems Is there anything out there like the DualShock 4 back attachment?
Yeah it is. I hout the 40 dollar 2 year warranty with best buy for it. I already had to use the free Microsoft warranty out the box with it cause my home button didn't work. Luckily best buy still honors their warranty even after that.
@@Mark_Aaron same here. I got the best buy warranty. I'm having slight A button issues and minor stick drift. They aren't major problems so far but for almost 200? I don't want minor problems. As soon as my best buy gets restocked, I'm getting a replacement
Scuf or élite i have the og elite and worked fine for 2 years I was going for the scuf until I saw the paddle placements. The paddle placements are awful unlike the Xbox elite. Should I buy one now and do you think all of the issues are resolved
Iv had mine for 9 mouths. The only problem i have is that the rubber on the trigger stop switch comes off if i rub on them in normal use, but always comes off when i let my family use it. My mate lost the rubber bits. As there were thrown away in the bin (trash). I hope when they release the series 3 that they fix the rubber coming off and the buttions stop working. I feel like the stick drift issue will still be a problem unleast they REdesign the analogue sticks with harder plasic or make them using metal and lubricate the moving parts.
I’ve had mine for about 10 months and this controller is amazing, I play a ton and if you take care of this controller you can definitely get your money’s worth. It does not wear out easily and if you have been thinking about buying one I highly recommend it.
Had mine for 6 months before it stoped charging and couldn’t use the left thumb stick. Thank god j had the warranty sent me a new one. Definitely the best controller I’ve used tho can say that for sure
Question: I am looking at various paddle controller (elite, scuf, etc) but am new to them, so not sure what paddle style i will like the feel of. Can you return this controller to Microsoft after trying it if you just don't like it?
I’d do some research on it. I like these paddles the most and I’ve used others. It’s a great controller but I am in the process of sending it in rn bc mine fucked up a while ago. Make sure you get a warranty
I have an Xbox Elite Series 2 and the RB stopped working after about 2 weeks I did not beat on it at all and my regular controller that I beat is holding up way better
When are you going to upgrade to a 4K video capable camera ? Not trying to offend you but the video quality even for 1080P is not great. Well not on a 4K TV anyway. 🙂
My honest review and experience. Got one, immediately after opening, the left stick click has an issue when clicking at a certain angle(around 9oclock). Decided to get it serviced and sent it back and they sent me a brand new controller, new serial number and everything. Right out the box, again same left stick click issue right out the box and also the "A" button wore out not even a month after opening(and i never dropped it or mashed any buttons) Is it worth it? probably if the buttons and sticks were properly working. My only issue is that the paddles are smaller than the series one, and also any sticks you bought for better feelings (tall or short) does not fit in series 2. (:
I noticed my buttons did stick a little for the first couple months I had it but it seem like I just had to break it in and clean it with alcohol now everything works flawlessly
I brought an elite 2 controller a few days ago and had to take it back the next day due to an issue I can't find being mentioned anywhere. I'm left handed as well as being disabled which affects my right hand, as such I need to swap the use of the thumb sticks around as part of my southpaw setup i also find the paddles useful and in the accessories app on the elite 1 you have the option to do this but on the elite 2 the option has been removed which is a big issue especially as lots of games don't even support a southpaw controller option to play with. so even so I love my elite 1 controller the elite 2 is now nothing but a nice paper weight. why have they taken away a feature that can be useful at giving people like myself a chance of playing better and being able to not worry about which game will support southpaw options

Sadly my LB is not working all the time on my any more (I use it to sprint so more use than usual, heard similar issues with bumper jumper). started acting up after 4months, so not on warranty anymore. I'm stuck with a 230 CAD$ controller not working properly. Sad because I LOVE the feel of it and I love my Gen1 before stick drift and Rubbers detaching. What sucks is that I never dropped it ever! Bought a Razer Wolverine to replace it, cheaper, sadly wired but it feels almost just as great, it has 1 year warranty and it has not broken on me so far.
Mines still going strong. Thought I was getting very slight stick drift at one point but that soon passed and the controller worked normally. Buttons sticking is no longer an issue, I guess they've worn in enough to not do that anymore. Bumpers are still solid too and the sticks haven't broken the underside bearing like the Elite v1 did.
@@spazzlol5699 nah, had to retire it in the end. Both bumpers began to fail. RB lost all functionality eventually, then when the LB started to become really unresponsive I had to call it a day and get another one. Fortunately the newer one is good and no issues out the box at all. I think it might be a newer revision with some upgraded parts. Still I'm gonna baby the bumper buttons and map to the back paddles where I need for games like Gears of War that use the bumper a ton.
@@obsidianzarok2361 both bumpers are almost non functional. Have to really press them hard to get them to register. The RT for me sticks slightly. I now use a normal controller for all games other than fps games when I go back to the elite. I just refuse to buy another one because they're so badly made. I'm waiting to see if the eventual Series 3 will finally bring updates to the weak bumper mechanism. The only plus is that the controller for me never got drift in the years I've had it and still doesn't. But I attribute that to me mapping the stick click buttons to the back paddles.
@@LouSassol69er That's terrible to hear thanks for letting me know. I have one on the way after two Normal series x controllers have broken rb bumper's two dead in under 6 months! The plan is to remap the rb button to a paddle once it breaks on the elite. Hopefully one day Microsoft will make a controller that works but I do think they designed them this way so that they do break and you have to go out and but another.
After owning my elite series 1 for about 4 years, the rubber on one side has only now started to peel. Crazy how inconsistent the construction is. Some people seem to get peeling rubber after a matter of months.
I've never seen such polarizing comments/reviews on a controller, or pretty much any piece of hardware for that matter (except maybe Nintendo Joycons). Maybe it's the price point that rallies the vocal minority? Bought one yesterday and will have it next week. Can't wait! They're still on sale for $20 off/$159 USD through Costco, even better if you have the Costco Citi card to extend the warranty for 2 additional years.
$229.99 here in Canada. Just bought for next gen hope i don't get the bad stick drift. Coming from playstation and having every controller I had got bad stick drift fingers crossed my experience with this one is good.
I got the Phantom White pretty much exactly a year ago and it's been flawless until this week. Right stick is starting to drift up. It happens randomly like most of the time it doesn't move but out of nowhere my camera in game just looks up really fast, faster than any drift I've seen.
I heard that’s just a sync problem and you should hold Xbox power button for 10 seconds, and then unplug it, then rep lug and turn on and sync your controller again. That’s what I heard
@@sijenkai3928 nah it was proper drift. Analogue stick completely went. I plugged it into my computer and used a testing tool and it was pushing up by 64% without even touching it. Thing was in perfect condition, never dropped it or anything. I've got a Series X now anyway and a new controller.
I have had both V1 and V2 both at launch and the problem I had with both it the connection keeps dropping off and on all the time. My V2 hasn’t done it in a while but my son still uses the V1 and he complains all the time of it dropping signal. I’m hoping it’s something that can be fixed with an update if they haven’t already but other than that I love the V2. Anything else just doesn’t feel right
That's about it for me. I have a series one that works perfectly fine, but I'm sick of the sleight jerks disconnecting the controller while the cord has no chance of falling out or being loose.
They could of make the triggers and bumpers metal. That's a big complaint of mine. Also wish you could change the color of the xbox logo without modding it yourself.
There's an issue that some have right out of the box, and sometimes a few months later, depending on play. It involves drift. Anyone living in a different country than the U.S.A. can not utilize the warrenty. So it's no good.
If you stop eating nachos while playing, you will not get nacho grease on the controller and you're probably not going to get that explosion when it drops from your greasy hands.
Expect problems with this thing. I'm on my third controller. First one, ABXY all unresponsive about 50% of the time. I used it for like one week, then A apart from that also started getting stuck. Second one, after six months RB just got worse and worse and finally stopped working completely. Got controller #3 today and so far it has disconnected once during gameplay. I hope it was just some random error.. But really, the quality control is just abysmal. It's 250 dollars here by the way :) Not really what you expect at that price point. And the major issue with all this is, of course, that when you've gotten used to it, all other controllers feel like shit. If this third one breaks as well I will just never touch MS stuff again and get a Dual Sense.
The Series 2 makes any other controller feel cheap. Got it since launch, me and my girlfriend use it. It probably gets around 4 hours of use everyday and still works like new. Highly recommended.

Still working?
Is it still working fine ?
4 months with mine no problems at the moment ❤️
if you guy's wants to buy one, buy it directly from Microsoft store, don't buy it from amazon or another store, a lot of this controllers that got issues are from people that bought them from stores; sometimes on stores they mismanage items
and drop the boxes or something...
Maybe they even sell refurbished /returned as new. I've had some bad experiences on Amazon and don't trust it anymore
po1980 yeah, you got a point there!
I have a question so when the controller is not working & you have a warranty how to you report to Microsoft for a new one? Do you return the broken one?
Jason Hernandez you have to call Microsoft and they will ask for the serial # of the controller and then they will tell you what to do
Wonderful review mate, thank you
Still working?
Power A fusion pro is essentially a wired elite controller for 80 bucks. I’ve been using it for months for hours on end and it’s incredible.
Same here, I liked it so much I bought a second one 👌

Some folks including myself are waiting for the next version since Elite Series 2 does not have a Share button. Still on my Elite Series 1.
@@TurboExpress007 No you cant
The share button is kinda overrated.
Edit: I used mine like 8 to 10 hour a day
I bought one since it came out, and here's my impression:
The battery lasts for a long time, the grip, the weight, the customization, of all that is great, but if you are like me, you probably hoped this one would last more than a year before experiencing defects.
What? Warranty only 90 days? Wtf? In Europe everything that is sold has 2 years warranty guaranteed. Would not want to live without that.
I've had my controller since day one and I havnt had any issues even though its a premium controller its not designed for heavy handed use.
it is tho
like the presentation man, thanks for the info!
This is your 3rd Elite controller?
@@willswain7144 Yup, the quality control on these is unbelievably bad.
After my latest one was fixed and showed no issues going forward I decided to get the same treatment for the other two and sold them on as "actually fixed" so someone else could experience how this controller was supposed to be built

I’m using the first elite controller And the different I saw in racing games is phenomenal .
Easily the best controller I've ever owned, however, the stick drift is real and there is no fix for it.

@Mr Glass wait what? On all 4?
How is it holding up now after another year??
Cant decide between buying one now, or waiting for them to make a series 3 thats shaped more like my series x controller. I didn’t think there was that big of a difference between the xbox one and the series x controller, but after using the series x one for the last month straight the shape of the grips really does feel way better on the new one.

How is the battery life after a year of use? If the battery no longer hold a charge can you play with the cable attached?
I am considering getting this controller but I do have a question if you happen to go back on video comments a couple weeks. The paddle buttons on the back on the OG elite controller were only able to be re-mappings of previous buttons, so for eg. you could have R3 be also mapped to a paddle. Are they still like that on this controller or can they be mapped as independent buttons? So for games like Sea of Thieves you can map action wheel items to buttons on the controller and I'm wondering if with this controller we essentially get 4 more buttons for in game mapping like this?
My bumpers have issues registering and my left and right stick have hard core analog stick drift.
you saved me some $$$
I live in a place where I simply can't return it if I had problems
Is there anything out there like the DualShock 4 back attachment?
If your buying this controller, the $170 price isn't important...it's the $40 warranty. Lol

I keep mine in the case when not playing, that should help a lot preventing dust to getting into the joysticks.
Using it XSX... still the best feeling controller for the system

Are they planning for the Xbox Elite Series 3 soon? I think I'll wait for the new generation with the Series X
i highly doubt it to be honest
I love mine. Worth every penny.

You could you the paddle as bumpers
Mines still going strong. Thought I was getting very slight stick drift at one point but that soon passed and the controller worked normally. Buttons sticking is no longer an issue, I guess they've worn in enough to not do that anymore. Bumpers are still solid too and the sticks haven't broken the underside bearing like the Elite v1 did.

@@spazzlol5699 nah, had to retire it in the end. Both bumpers began to fail. RB lost all functionality eventually, then when the LB started to become really unresponsive I had to call it a day and get another one.
