I use to call my 78 "The Swedish Meatball" Was made with Swedish and Italian collaboration. I bought it used and drove it daily for about 5 years. Then a couple offered me the same price I paid. I couldn't turn them dawn. It was a great offer and their last name was Bertone. True story.
for sure you lost the essence of the volvo 200 series, basically, they are designed to be driven safely on slippery roads and the handling is aimed to that purpose. I've driven over 1,000,000 mile on the 240's and I've never found a car that made me feel so safe on slippery road., the worse are new cars filled with electronic guizzmos to hide their instability.
I wish it had the European headlights. I never knew there was a Bertone with the old taillights. That engine looks so modern for something that came out in 1975.
I picked up an 81 244 it had been sitting in a garage for over 20 years the exhaust fell off it and was laying underneath it it only has 150K miles on it but I think the metal is rotten I noticed when I picked it up not at the jack points it crushed in a bit. I tried to get it running and that was an adventure, from the fuel pump being seized, to all the rubber fuel lines rupturing oh and of course vid19 and everything was closed
tjena underbar video. jag har en volvo 960 från 93. ruskigt fint kombi med otroligt mycket utrustning. vill du göra ett avsnitt och hälsa på så hojta till /Henric
Hey Silent, may I ask what the LS1 swap cost in total? I have heard of a 850 r T5 engine swap. But that comes nowhere near the >400hp of the ls1. Someday I want to do the same. In doubt whether to go for the pimpin gold version or the legendary grey with black both with a crown on the back. It would be the classiest sleeper ever in my opinion. I envy your cars in a positive manner. 🫶🏼🤟🏼👊🏼 Selint D is a good name. Better than tall D. 😂 what are you 2mtr? Happy new year Norwegian 🇳🇴 brother of another mother!😎
Look up “John Lane Rally” If you want to see someone who thought the PRV 6 was suitable for racing ;) . Where he races a 262 with a turbo charged prv6 .
The Silent D Motor Show you know he has some rare parts and engines left. last time I talked him he had a built turbo PRV ready to go. That sounds like something right up your alley! If you would like me to get you in touch with him let me know and I will .
I liked the video because of the car and because of good introduce of Volvo etc but I suffer pain because of "volvo volvo aha, aha, volvovolvo aha, aha".
the 240 series are wonderful auto with a well kept secret; they are fun to drive even in the lowest trim and carburetor engine. there is no equivalent today, unless you pay your life to buy a car, they are dull to drive, The 240 series represent truly scandinavian poeple: dull outside but fun and lively inside ...
My Volvo 264 was the worst car that ever hit the road. Pure garbage anything that could go wrong did go wrong. Heartache of one problem after another the most unreliable car known to man. Why bother living with an old Volvo unless your life has plenty of time for fixing old junk from Sweden. Better to invest your time with ABBA where pure quality lives forever and the music will live forever. Sweden even has Volvo style high end audio ( Primare ) which is pure Volvo over engineered gear which is over engineered to fail long term. The Japanese seem to have the world market ongoing where anything that comes out of their country comes with reliability and in the world we live in anything that comes from Japan is rare and special because its made to last and made with pride. Anyway volvo is an Indian company now however back in the days Volvo Sweden still had quality control issues where Japanese cars where concerned. Volvo has pure charm with headaches, all their cars have not come without pure mechanical issues , his car is charming and looks great but is vintage rubbish that holds no value but only to the owner which is understandable. So if you have plenty of money and like a particular brand of car go for it. If your poor like me stick with brands like Honda ,Toyota and especially Lexus. Lexus has pure quality and they will not be driven by cost to give a truly quality car. Happy to hear your feedback good or bad . All the best Chris
I owned a '77 264GL sedan from '79 to '93 and put over 170K miles on it during that time and sadly I have to mostly agree that just about anything that could go wrong did go wrong. Except the engine! The B27F engine never really gave me any problems. Btw, Volvo is now 82% owned by a Chinese multinational automotive company - Zhejiang Geely Holding Group Co., Ltd. - not Indian.
LOVE THIS!! Aaaaaaahn all that snow ! aaaah Norway winters! yeah! wow from 240 drivers in Los Angeles!! triple black

I have a 78 Bertone with a 355 under the hood. It's my favorite car! I love the song in this video lol!

What a great Song!❤👍🏼
The first time I heard it was in an OLD 142 "volvo hundred forty two" in the song instead.

@@SmokeyJa Thanks that be fun, but I'm laying low on new projects at the moment :o
Well I found this video very sexy and compelling indeed, oh yeah I liked the car too! 😎
A ford 302 v8 would be a good balance for this Volvo.
Such a cool channel! Let's make an episode with my car soon! (245 from 79)
Sounds lik a 282C
2021 update: Many tire manufacturers have stopped making 14" tires. I love the Bertone.
Still prefer the 242.
I liked the video because of the car and because of good introduce of Volvo etc but I suffer pain because of "volvo volvo aha, aha, volvovolvo aha, aha".
Anyone know what wheels these are? Absolutely love them!
