  • Volvo Amazon found in northern Sweden, parked in the 1990s to be a parts car. Some parts were taken to be used on another Volvo Amazon, the whole brake system and some other minor parts. Been standing in the woods for the last 30 years.

As a Volvo tech for 40 years, this brings back a lot of memories. I haven't worked on a 122 in probably 30 years.

@@fredlabonte8946 Jup sadly it is. As goes for so much. I drive a 2017 Suzuki nowadays and an 1985 190d. It surprising how much those 2 have in common regarding build quality and serviceability. I know Suzuki is not everybody's cup of tea as they tend to do everything quite old fashioned (with still impressive fuel economy!) But that's exactly what I like about them. A wheel is round, a knob is a knob, a radio a radio, and you don't need to dig out a stupid oil filter as that is on a relatively modern Peugeot for example.

My wife's Grandparents had one of these lovely Volvo cars in the 1970s and I remember driving it myself. I seem to remember the gear stick being very long indeed, and the car itself was as heavy as a tank, but such quality in the build, I loved it.

was 16. This is my 43rd year of ownership and I'm doing a lot of refurbishing and restoration so she will last me until I leave this
world. The Volvo 120 series is the perfect combination of strength, safety, style and simplicity.

The old Volvos were indestructible, thick metal and bomb-proof motors, a total tank. Volvos after 1971 didn't have the legendary solidly built reputation, I own a 1972 Volvo 144S in yellow and a 1976 Volvo 244S in Green and the cars would break and be in a garage ever 2 or 3 weeks, and in those days service at the dealer was quite expensive. The reputation of the indestructible 1960's Volvo has been tarnished forever. My favorite Volvo was the Roger Moore (of the Saint) 1966 Volvo 1800, what a sports car. The good old days. Thank you for the memories!

I had one of these in the sixties. Great car. I sold it to a young lady who told me she was heading from florida to california. She actually called me a couple of months later to say she got there OK, and the car ran great all the way.

Why would someone abandon it like that?! It's a valuable car

Not 30-40 years ago. Old junk cars were given away for a case of beer back then.

Had a 67 for years...great old school cars, not pretentious and fun to drive as well. I am not a mechanic and was able to do all the basic service from oil changes to valve adjustments and spark plugs,

It looks like a 1966 model, so I wouldn't call it early since 1957 was the first model year.🙂

My dad has one of those. Still driving it around every now and then.
Just took some stuff to the recycling centre in a VW Transporter T2 from ca. 1970. It's fun to drive too, although in a very different way :)
