The 240 was definitely an amazing vehicle and when you find one in good condition, they're still amazing. Nice video on the 262 C. I didn't know these existed till I clicked on this video.
Thanks! Yes, definitely a Scandi thing! They used to be so cheap, and there was so many of them, so I guess we just couldn't help it... :o I sure wouldn't do this today tho
When you see the 262C Bertoni, the best of 2 worlds, this car is so unique, the body style, the roof line, unique leather upholstery, including the trunk, alloys or rims, that look like the same rims, you would find on the Ferrari's it is very rare to find a 262C Bertoni, they were different from your regular 142,or 242👌👆👍☝🏽👏🏿of course Volvo came out with the Volvo 780 which you could see some of the 262C into the780.
In Nov. '79 I purchased a '77 264GL. It was the 50th anniversary edition version and of course came with the B27F engine and the BW55 automatic transmission. It was finished in Mystic Silver metallic with the blue velour interior. In the summer of '81 the local Volvo dealer was looking to sell their '80 Bertone Coupe that was being driven by the owner of the dealership. It had the B28F engine with the auto. It was finished in black with the matching black leather interior. I test drove it, but passed on it because it lacked the headroom and sunroof of my 264GL. They never did sell it. In 1985 the dealer owner died and his sons decided to sell the car. The new owner was also a BMW owner and was meticulous about his cars. He immediately ordered new leather panels for the seats from Volvo and took excellent care of the car during the time he owned it. According to magazines of the time the 0-60 time for the Bertone Coupe with the standard was approx. 11.5 seconds. My 264 with the auto was approx. a second slower. So, you may want to check the air mixture balance between your left and right intake manifolds because when it was off performance suffered and the engine became a dog. There are 3 brass screws at the front top of the manifold. One is for the balance between the two sides. When it is balanced correctly the engine livens right up and you can really feel the differnce. I know all this because I drove that 264 for over 13 years before trading it in for a 240GL.
I love this! We have a nice (but old) 1993 240 triple black. Yep rare triple black. One of the last 240's made, we understand. Thinking of selling to buy a truck to move with. Cheers! Mike in Los Angeles, California.
Volvo hugely advertised the Volvo 260 series as the car for the people who think.especially in the national geographic magazine. The car that was mostly advertised was the Volvo 264GL in the 1970's.The adverts were very classic and fabulous check them on eBay.The 260 series was manufactured from 1974 to around 1985.But most of all it was a great car built with common sense. The six cylinders engine gave the safety of power and silence of around 72 decibels when cruising on around 110 km per hour.up to today the car is still a goer.
Thank you for this! I recently aquired a few Volvo Bertones. One of them being a 1980 262c like this! Thanks for sharing this information. I can't wait to drive it!
The 262C Bertone was not designed or styled by Bertone. "Die Entwürfe für den 262 C stammten von Volvos Hausdesigner Jan Wilsgaard. Das italienische Karosseriewerk Bertone, dem der Entwurf vielfach zugeschrieben wird, hatte mit der Gestaltung nichts zu tun. Bertone übernahm lediglich die Serienfertigung der Fahrzeuge." de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Volvo_262_C
I had one. Gold paint. In cars terms, she was my first love and my truest love. She didn’t mind being driven fast too, as long as you treated the brakes sweet, which is understandable for a 1.6+ ton car. She’s oversteery yet stable thanks to its thick rear roll bar and because of her long wheelbase. She bites hard on the tarmac when you power out of the corner and she’s sharp. The one thing that I would change about her is the engine. Although the V6 sounds beautiful, it is in my view too small for its spureme handling characteristics…
A bit like a Rolls Royce Camargue but better looking and better built. My first car was also a Volvo but it was a 760 GLE Turbo Diesel. Nice car and a very nice and very frugal engine
There is also an Allen key screw at the back of the manifold that is also used for adjusting balance and air/fuel mixture. You probably know all this, but maybe you don't.
Owned one, in S. Florida. All black on black- the Hottest car in the history of all cars. Poor AC, rust under the vinyl top, under powered... cool looking car but had its problems.
A beautiful classic car, combined with a beautiful scenery.....love it ❤ * l've owned a Volvo S80 T5 before. Sadly it keeps breaking down (engine failure). On the other hand, it is a very comfortable car (orthopedic seats & suspension wise) compared with german rivals, solid build quality & safe car to drive. Every drive is a plesant trip.
The Silent D Motor Show thank you! 🤗 this was so good, I watched it twice! I hope your drone survived the fall. I crashed mine when shooting a BMW video
My first car will be an old 240, i really dont care about the old and slow engines (compared to other stuff i could get for about the same price) they are just too nice
funny, you look a bit like my niece's husband. He is now retired yet used to be a harvester in the woods near Bergen :) Question: is the 262 prone to rust, or is this oldfashioned thick steel they used for the plating?
This car have bad old suspension springs. Old springs tension can go to -25% of new and even more. As a result you will have big problems with steering. Even from Russia i see what rear springs on this car are tired. Im a Volvo guy i had several 244, 240,245 and other rwd Volvos. People who never change springs saying exactly like this guy on video what Volvos handles terrible. Educate yourself about suspension mister bloger. Try just to watch test of any car with old and new springs. Old and new spring looks same and can even have same lenth, but old will be very soft. LOL.
Polar Borealis lower miles and I’m looking to make it my daily driver What would you start working on first? I appreciate the feedback I understand Renault helped make the engine and I haven’t heard the best from Renault Curious if it’s feasible
@@SilentDMotorShow I've been driving 240's for 53 years - I've had 4 of them: one was a turbo, but I blew it up, so it doesn't count - that was a fast car!
Wow, that's cheap. In USD that's only $3,700!! Would be at least double in the States or Europe. These cars must be a lot cheaper in Australia, good for you! And yes, this looks great too. Hopefully they are not too far away so you can check them in person and get whichever seems like the best deal today and also having in mind future repairs. In my experience the 260-series doesn't have a lot of buyers lined up for them, so you can probably haggle the price even further. On my latest 262C I haggled the price to half of the asking price, after it had been on Ebay for many months (instagram.com/p/BeoJbBcHb5q)
The uglyest car ever built by Bertone (!) as he admitted himself on a car-journalist meeting in Italy. He wanted for sure another style, however the Volvo headquarters demanded an "American looking" car (!) Therefore Bertone did his best in an undesired frame. The result is this clumsy, inelegant car for U.S. boasters. In Europe it was a commercial failure.
thumbs up for Boris! he is the coolest guy ever to offer to drive the car to you
Yes, legend!!
indeed! i really respect these people who show enthusiasm and care for cars they have
Ha ha ha the sellers name was Boris we love that too! Our 240 is named Ozzy. Ha ha no kidding. The car is named Ozzy.
Love the Volvo 262c. Imagine having Volvos own B6304F in it, instead of the B27E.
The 240 was definitely an amazing vehicle and when you find one in good condition, they're still amazing. Nice video on the 262 C. I didn't know these existed till I clicked on this video.
Fantastic
Sam, The Car Guy ~ check out the 780 Volvo. Much nicer.
Hey from Los Angeles. We have a 1993 triple black 240 with 158 thousand miles. It's very special. We named it Ozzy.
Beautiful 262C. I don't like to see those old Volvo's getting smashed up though - I suppose it's a Scandinavia thing.

Dude orange 242 single 7” headlight is pure class and gorgeous
Helt underbar bil, gård och välgjord film. Riktigt jävla bra! Min första tanke när jag såg ladan förresten, det var att den såg misstänkt norsk ut 😸

A wild and crazy guy has got to have a 262C to pick up the foxes in
I didn't know there were so few built. I just found an '80 in the junkyard. First time seeing one in the yard.

81 was the best year, minor emissions and all the power.
Loved the intro. Great work keep it ☝
