Any recommendations on what to do if you don't have an extension office near by for testing/calibrating your pressure gage? I've contacted our nearest offices and they don't have the equipment. Would you can without calibration? I have a 23qt presto, brand new

Hi Courtney easy to do with the presto just compare the pressure gauge to the jiggler if it starts jiggling at say 10 pounds per square inch and your gauge is reading the same or very close your good to go cheers

Sometimes ACE hardware store will do that. They do at ours in town. I can’t speak for the whole corporation of ACE hardware stores but it wouldn’t hurt to call and ask. If they don’t in your area maybe they can tell you where to go.

One year, my Mom's sister & her 4 children (Air Force- living in Las Vegas), my Mom & us 4 kids (living in Illinois @ that time, Dad just out of the Air Force) went to Savannah to spend the summer at their Mother's house- my Grandma. After a trip to the farmers market and bushels & bushels of food everywhere, my mom, aunt, Grandma, Bma, & the older of us kids shelled, peeled scraped & cut everything. Peas, peaches, corn, beans, cucumbers, squash & tomatoes that fed us all summer. Grandma didn't can them though, she put them in freezer boxes that had baggies inside. Bma canned when Grandma was a little girl and they lived near Nashville Ga, but she stopped when she moved to "the city". My Dad's side in Illinois were the big canners, my other Grandma & all my aunts (Dad had 9 sisters). I love canning, I think it's in my blood! 😂 Watching you brings up so many memories!!
