      One thing to remember is don't unhook your front strap of your boat until you get it to the water. If you would have to stop quick your boat could slide off the trailer. I've seen it happen before. Beautiful restore!

    Watching this video really makes me miss my boat. I will offer this advice. Use ethanol free gas and check the drain plug area. I drug mines two hours to a new lake only to find the drain plug assembly has corroded and cracked. I had to load it back up and drag her home. I replaced it with a brass unit from Bass Pro shop. You really have her in prime condition. Congrats.

    • @Ace.Fisher
      @Ace.Fisher  5 месяцев назад +3

      Thanks for letting me know, been told that by a couple people already so I’ll definitely use ethanol free gas from now on. And I need to replace the drain plug assembly because the original plastic one on it is slowly leaking, not much maybe half a gallon for the whole day but still annoying that it does that.

    Way to go. I just restored my 40 year old skeeter boat. Took me almost 3 months. Gutted and restored to immaculate condition. It was very surprisingly enjoyable. Cost of a new boat was waaaay out of my price point. No regrets. I wish you well my friend. Thanks for sharing with us. 🤝

    Nice job on the boat. Few pointers, the chains should cross to catch the tongue of the trailer if it were to come off. Also older motors are not ethanol friendly so need to use gas stabilizer that removes it, they make it for marine applications. Enjoy the boat.

    • @Ace.Fisher
      @Ace.Fisher  5 месяцев назад +2

      Thanks for the tips, the chains are not long enough to cross them other wise the catch on the hitch when I make sharp turns, but for the non ethanol gas I did not know but now I will. Thanks

    Never unload your boat that way. Start it and back it off. For two reasons. You know it will run. And if rope breaks you lose your boat across lake. My friend lost his life trying to retrieve his. Wonderful job restoring

    And during the winter months try some small to medium size live bait minnows
    Figure out their depth and drop it literally on their nose
    Set your bobber depth about a foot or 2 tops above the fish you see depth
    Once you cast let it sit for a few minutes then
    Slow slow real in and mix in some slight pauses during the reel in
    Most of the time you don't even have to reel though

Also when you're by yourself fishing, wear a life jacket in case you fall overboard, if you do go over the the side & you're alone you can use the big engine to trim yourself into the boat. It’s usually hard to get to, but my boat has an access to that area thought the back board behind the seats.

    Nice job. What buffer did you use? And compound and wax?

      I bought a cheap buffer on Amazon but that was like 10 years ago, and I used meguiars one step compound.

    When fishing on a cold day that throttle becomes a thermostat. The more you push the handle down the colder it gets.

    I have a 1994 Mariner (Mercury) 90hp that looks just like your outboard. Do yourself a favor and buy the kit to delete the oil/gas mixer pump. If it goes bad and they do... It will destroy your motor. I swear, Mine actually runs better and a little faster after I deleted it. Get you some rod socks too lol.

      I ordered mine through a local mercury marine dealer in my town. Not amazon... Was like $40 or $50 about 3 years ago.
