When i have my own daughter she's gonna grow up watching these barbies movies. Not the ones being made now, or even when she's growing up. The ones made when i was 2,3,4,5 are the ones she'll grow up with!!! These movies are absolute gold!!!
Heck yeah!! The older ones had so much more going for them rather than the new "Rock Star/Princess" stuff thats being made now. Nothing but, beautiful songs/music, memorable characters and wonderful storylines can be found in the old Barbie movies! I'm 21 and I still love watching those old Barbie movies from time to time and I'm not ashamed!!
This Barbie movie has the best music ever, not even joking. I just finished watching this movie again tonight ever since I was a little girl (I'm 15) and I still love it; in fact I think I love it and appreciate it even more. The story is also fantastic. But the music makes it 10x better for me.

I know! The new Princess and the Popstar film makes me sad that they changed the most important lyrics to 'To be a Princess'. Because it showed the struggles of something everyone thought was so easy, now it just says get breakfast in bed and have manis & pedis (or whatever). I know I was so inspired by that song about the barking cat saying be yourself, and 'to thine own's self be true'. THEY LITERALLY QUOTED SHAKESPEARE HOW COULD THEY HAVE RUINED IT UGH.

I think this is the best barbie movie made, and it's a shame to see what barbie has turned into. Who can replicate something as fantastic as this? Not even barbie. Their movies now, are a disgrace to movies like this. I wish they would just take a step back and realize that these movies were just better. *sigh*
I actually like new ones also. Barbie does have to change during time as the times and the kids change too. I think the new ones are more mature in some ways and in some annoyingly trying to underline something obvious already. But I love pink shoes, 12 dancing princess, pearl princess and island princess. And the three musketeer. I love how during time the message is still the same from the first movie to last; be yourself, be brave and trust your heart.

the thing I love the most about these old school movies (Barbie, Disney, etc) is that when you're little they're incredible and fun and you love them. And then you grow up and things might end up being horrible and scary so you go back to them and rewatch these movies that made you so happy. And BAM! Suddenly the lyrics have a deeper, stronger meaning that you were too little to understand. But now you do and it was just what you needed to hear.
Is it me or old Barbie films (the fairytale ones) really have very high rewatch value? You laugh and idolise the characters at 4. You feel with them at 8. You relate to them at 16. Then you cry to them at 20 because nostalgia hits you like an isekai truck and adulthood finally makes you understand the deeper meanings of these films.

This is my second intake for my last semester in College - Yes, I failed last semester & my father was very disappointed at me, he throws this hurtful words that stays in my mind. This song cheers me up & believes in me (which is so touching lol!). However, I understand that he only wants what's best for me but his wordings are not really helpful for me. The message of this song is such a treasure. It cheers me up whenever I'm down - I agreed with other comments that the lyrics: "And you're always free to begin again And you're always free to believe" & "Though you may not know where your gifts may lead And it may not show at the start " I'm seriously starting to tear up every time I hear these two lines especially the very first line which started with the word "And.." - This word gives me courage and hope that I can start, restart, AND keep trying AND trying to reach my dream in my own will. It also teaches me to just listen to myself & not to other people's (hurtful) opinion like my father's. It's funny how me & my sisters watched this movie when we were little, not knowing the true message behind this song. I came back now crying with nostalgia and struggles with life which made me appreciate this song even more. All I can say is I'm happy that this movie was part of my childhood. I hope you guys are well!~ And keep believing just like what Barbie taught us!

Honestly, it's sad to see comments saying how this barbie is a bad role model because of what the commenters view Barbie to be perfect. Like honestly, I'm pretty sure when kids are watching the classical movies, they're definitely not thinking of how Barbie is so perfect with the perfect face, perfect hair, perfect body. I just can't seem to understand why would adults think of Barbie this way... All I can think of when watching classical barbie movies were "I wish I can dance like her or I want to be brave like her" and such. Best Barbie movie hands down. My daughter is going to grow up watching the Barbie movies from my childhood, not the ones their making now. The new ones don’t have that charm to them.
The first time i saw this movie was around 2003 and i was just 5yrs old at that time. I was so amazed cus the movie is just so magical and filled with hopes and dreams. And right then i keep loving this movie and even though ive watched the rest of other barbie movies, this is still the best one for me. Theres just something magical in princess and the pauper songs that makes it so special. Especially this song when the narrator said "somtimes being free means choosing not to go, but to stay." 💖

The writers knew we would come back to this song; because as a child, I didn’t understand the depth of the song and now that I’m 22, it hits hard.
I think this is the best barbie movie made, and it's a shame to see what barbie has turned into. Who can replicate something as fantastic as this? Not even barbie. Their movies now, are a disgrace to movies like this. I wish they would just take a step back and realize that these movies were just better. *sigh*
I actually like new ones also. Barbie does have to change during time as the times and the kids change too. I think the new ones are more mature in some ways and in some annoyingly trying to underline something obvious already. But I love pink shoes, 12 dancing princess, pearl princess and island princess. And the three musketeer. I love how during time the message is still the same from the first movie to last; be yourself, be brave and trust your heart.

the thing I love the most about these old school movies (Barbie, Disney, etc) is that when you're little they're incredible and fun and you love them. And then you grow up and things might end up being horrible and scary so you go back to them and rewatch these movies that made you so happy. And BAM! Suddenly the lyrics have a deeper, stronger meaning that you were too little to understand. But now you do and it was just what you needed to hear.
Is it me or old Barbie films (the fairytale ones) really have very high rewatch value? You laugh and idolise the characters at 4. You feel with them at 8. You relate to them at 16. Then you cry to them at 20 because nostalgia hits you like an isekai truck and adulthood finally makes you understand the deeper meanings of these films.

This is my second intake for my last semester in College - Yes, I failed last semester & my father was very disappointed at me, he throws this hurtful words that stays in my mind. This song cheers me up & believes in me (which is so touching lol!). However, I understand that he only wants what's best for me but his wordings are not really helpful for me.
The message of this song is such a treasure. It cheers me up whenever I'm down - I agreed with other comments that the lyrics:

I'm seriously starting to tear up every time I hear these two lines especially the very first line which started with the word "And.." - This word gives me courage and hope that I can start, restart, AND keep trying AND trying to reach my dream in my own will. It also teaches me to just listen to myself & not to other people's (hurtful) opinion like my father's.
It's funny how me & my sisters watched this movie when we were little, not knowing the true message behind this song. I came back now crying with nostalgia and struggles with life which made me appreciate this song even more.
All I can say is I'm happy that this movie was part of my childhood.

Honestly, it's sad to see comments saying how this barbie is a bad role model because of what the commenters view Barbie to be perfect. Like honestly, I'm pretty sure when kids are watching the classical movies, they're definitely not thinking of how Barbie is so perfect with the perfect face, perfect hair, perfect body. Best Barbie movie hands down. My daughter is going to grow up watching the Barbie movies from my childhood, not the ones their making now. The new ones don’t have that charm to them.
The first time i saw this movie was around 2003 and i was just 5yrs old at that time. I was so amazed cus the movie is just so magical and filled with hopes and dreams. And right then i keep loving this movie and even though ive watched the rest of other barbie movies, this is still the best one for me. Theres just something magical in princess and the pauper songs that makes it so special. Especially this song when the narrator said "somtimes being free means choosing not to go, but to stay." 💖
whenever i experience failure in life, i remember this song. also reminds me not to give up on my dreams.
UPDATE:
i've finally able to start again with my new job. i hated my previous job so much and it made my self-esteem drop so much, but i was able to gain the courage to quit. (my boss cursed me so much for quitting. that was the routine in that workplace).
