Julian is such a lovable dork. He legitimately knows everything about Annalise and adores her. The dorky and sweet tangent expressing his feelings followed by the oh-shit voice crack is gold. He is also extremely selfless as he kept his feelings for Annalise hidden as to not rock the boat and not put any burden on her.
And then......there's the Credits.

I like this song because it shows WHY Annalise hates to be a princess, it not just because she can't marry who she loves.
There's so many rules to follow.
And it tells you subtlety how hard it is and covers it with fun scenes that the lyrics just go over your head when you 5-8years old.
I like rewatching old shows and movies with adult eyes and get a deeper sense of what kid shows/movies have
After watching Princess Diana scenes from the Crown, I like how this song also states that being a princess is to act as not a human but more like a stiff robot (never show a thing you feel inside).

I really love the double meaning of “to be a princess is to never make your bed” the princess never makes her bed because her servants do that, but she also doesn’t decide her fate. It’s constantly changing with what’s best for her people.

What I like about this song is that it shows a more traditional and proper approach to being an actual princess in a kingdom. When you say princess, everyone thinks of a girl in a gown and crown, whining about not wanting to be married or dancing with her prince or doing things that play no part in actually governing the kingdom. We see the etiquette and duty of a Royal here and that is what makes this song so unique

well of course the princess and popstar version the princess is like 17 so she has less responsibilities, therefore she thinks that all to being a princess is shoes and gowns. But in the princess and pauper she is 20+ years old so she has more responsibilities and thinks being a princess is harder. Lol don't hate either movie. They are different perspectives and different times.
@@hazel2900 actually. Barbie is about the same age in every film. 16/17 but you do make a point. In Barbie Princess and the Pauper. Its middle ages time. As in the 1400s and such. In the Popstar movie, its modern times. Back in the middle ages. You grew up much faster. Married much younger and took responsibility much faster because it wasn't likely for you to live past age 45ish. Even royalty.

I always saw it as Tori not wanting to tell Kira about the downsides of being a princess. The circumstances were very different. In Princess and the Pauper, Annaliese was missing, and Erika pretending to be her was to save the country, and as such, if she messed up it could mean life or death. In Princess and the Popstar, Tori and Kira were switching places for fun, so of course Tori would try to sell her life in the best possible light. She really wanted a break, and if Kira didn't like the idea of protocol and always being perfect, she could always change her mind. Kira had a choice to refuse and Erika didn't. Princess and the Popstar does show Tori being a princess with obligations. She had to entertain guests at the party, had to give a speech, and even created a plan to help her subjects after a drought.

Why did Mattel start making their Barbie movies less serious? The formula for these movies were all so good. My guess is that they either ran out of classic literature to base their movies on (I’m still waiting for a Barbie and her sisters in Little Women) or buying the rights to base their movies off of classic literature got too expensive

It sounds silly and funny at first glance. However, I think it makes sense. I don't think the line "to never make your bed" implies that it's okay to be lazy. Rather, it implies the importance of knowing where to put your time and effort in and the significance of delegation. Being a princess comes with big responsibilities and a princess really shouldn't concern herself on trivial matters such as making her bed WHEN she has people whose roles and tasks are geared towards that. Same with some rich people, they hire people to do certain things for them (cook, clean, etc) because their time is better invested or spent attending on important matters-- and doing otherwise would actually be costly for them (and would cost their employees their jobs also). Thinking about it in this context made sense on the sequence of those two lines in the song.
Late af but I thought it might imply how a princess has no control over how her lofe turns out. Like when people say "you made your bed, now lie in it", making one's bed is a metaphor for making a (bad) choice. A princess doesn't get to choose it, someone else makes her bed, but she still gotta lie in it.
now THIS IS BARBIE. The remake was pretty cool and so modernized but not realistic enough. I mean being a princess is not just enjoying the wealth and all. This one really captures the need to be a princess :) I miss the old Barbie I grew up with

The Princess and the pauper was set when a Princess was an actual member of the goverment and would have actual responisblities. the Princess and the Popstar is set when a princess isnt a member of goverment and so doesnt have serious responsiblities.

I think the best aspect of this song is how ACCURATE it is. I mean, it can legitimately be sound advice for anyone of royal or honourable lineage. "Stay present, stay pleasant, stay proud." "Be charming but detached and yet amused." Those are actually good and accurate characteristics that a real live princess/etc should or are expected to exhibit. This might be a fun song but it certainly has some sharp truth in it.

The good thing about this film is, I think, that they're not telling children that being a princess is magical and cool and everything will just effortlessly turn out to be okay and you'll never have any problems. The new Barbie movies do exactly that, but this one tells you that not everything will be fun, even as a princess, but if you do your duty in life and take responsibility, you can make it better.
