- New Line Cinema and Renaissance Pictures present a return to the iconic horror franchise, “Evil Dead Rise,” from writer/director Lee Cronin (“The Hole in the Ground”). The movie stars Lily Sullivan (“I Met a Girl,” “Barkskins”), Alyssa Sutherland (“The Mist,” “Vikings”), Morgan Davies (“Storm Boy,” “The End”), Gabrielle Echols (“Reminiscence”) and introducing Nell Fisher (“Northspur”).
Moving the action out of the woods and into the city, “Evil Dead Rise” tells a twisted tale of two estranged sisters, played by Sutherland and Sullivan, whose reunion is cut short by the rise of flesh-possessing demons, thrusting them into a primal battle for survival as they face the most nightmarish version of family imaginable.
“Evil Dead Rise” is produced by Rob Tapert (“Ash vs Evil Dead,” “Don’t Breathe”) and executive produced by series creator and horror icon Sam Raimi and cult legend and “Ash” himself, Bruce Campbell, along with John Keville, Macdara Kelleher, Richard Brener, Dave Neustadter, Romel Adam and Victoria Palmieri.
Cronin is joined behind the camera by director of photography Dave Garbett (“Z for Zachariah,” “Underworld: Rise of the Lycans”), production designer Nick Bassett (“Guns Akimbo,” “Sweet Tooth”), editor Bryan Shaw (“Ash vs Evil Dead,” “Spartacus”) and costume designer Sarah Voon (“Chasing Great,” “Inside”), with a score by Stephen McKeon (“The Hole in the Ground,” “Primeval”).
A New Line Cinema / Renaissance Pictures presentation of a Pacific Renaissance and Wild Atlantic Pictures production, “Evil Dead Rise” will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures and is set to open only in cinemas April 20.
An Evil Dead film set in the city actually has the potential to be awesome. “Mummy’s with the maggots” is just the kind of creepy-funny line the Deadites are so good at, so I’m optimistic.

I think this is a sequel to the original franchise, not the remake (in my headcanon is a sequel to the remake tho, it fits better with its tone lol)

I usually scoff at remakes but the first evil dead remake had me squirming in my seat and this one looks very promising. I’m excited.
Neither are remakes. Different stories in the same world. There was a sequel planned for 2011 ED with Ash showing up but it never happened.
@@GZP1023 remakes, reimaginings. Regardless, I think they managed to bring some level of excitement back to the horror genre. I’ve been so disenchanted by the horror films of late and these give me something to look forward to that will actually give me a tingle down my spine.
I wouldn't consider this a remake at all.
I LOVED the 2013 remake and waited years for a sequel, but i fear this will be heavily watered down considering today's standards. The franchise has always been known to go all out on the horror, gore and blood, and the 2013 remake was no exception. But i fear this will be a huge let down.

I got chills throughout the trailer this is super scary and I love that, we need more horror movies like this. Also what the demon did to the mother is horrible and terrifying. I just feel bad for her sister and her kids
I was party to a test screening last year. I wrote down 5 negatives and 0 positives on my feedback. I am truly surprised how easily pleased the comments are to this trailer.
What did you think about the 2013 Evil Dead? Or the OG trilogy for that matter?
Yeah...explain. because from what I've read of the test screenings have been mostly positive.
@@sleepcrime I found the 2013 ED (theatrical edit) average when I first watched it. A few years later I viewed the extended cut and felt it was a better experience. The original 3 are terrific entertainment - especially the 1st one as it possesses a genuine evil threat and nasty streak throughout the whole running-time.
@@laurendaley8347 I wasn't aware of that. I can only put forth my experience and what I learned during the sitting. From what I recall, the feedback was: a generic look that didn't make it stand out from the numerous horror pictures within the past 10 years; the women demons/deadites were too pretty, i.e., not grotesque enough; the demons/deadites weren't particularly frightening or evil; irritating musical cues/stabs during the fake-out scares; zero tension; resembled a TV-movie. The audience members over the age of 35 (which included me) had the biggest negative response.
Damn feel great to see this franchise gettin a sequel it deserves. It was so underrated for many years

I’ll be the fan to say it. Everything Evil Dead never fails to amaze and entertain. Not a better more consistent franchise I can think of that has delivered banger after banger to date! No matter if it being game, reboot, or show, it’s never missed a beat. I can’t think of 1 single moment or take of Evil Dead I didn’t enjoy!
I completely agree! No matter what direction the series has taken, even with the more lighthearted installments like AVED & AOD, i think the teams behind Evil Dead are just so passionate about the series that it's all gold. You can really tell Evil Dead media is created with care, and the fact that the original team have continued to take part along the way speaks volumes to the authentic passion behind this franchise.
I think Scream is another franchise that it might have a not so strong entry but all the movies are awesome.

Saw it yesterday and WOW! It definitely blew me away. It’s definitely the scariest Evil Dead film since the original! Alyssa Sutherland’s performance as a sickly evil deadite will become iconic.

This is, hands down, one of the best horror trailers I've ever seen in my life! I just reacted to it on my channel. Fede Alvarez did an amazing job in the 2013 movie, and the director of this looks like he has pulled it off too. His name is Lee Cronin. Truly amazing!

Ah man....finally a serious movie in the series just like the original Evil Dead and the 2013 version.....That's how i like that franchise...But Evil Dead 2 is still a masterpiece,even with the comedy.Can't wait to see that new one. 😍

the evil dead series wasnt as great as it was "even with the comedy", the comedy was what made it so great. Evil dead had way fewer comedy than the rest of the series but it was still far from straight, dark horror. The new one will need some comedy, rather more than less, to really feel like a evil dead movie

This looks SO SO SO good! I just hope they don't pull what they did with the Evil Dead remake and have all the BEST parts in the trailer, and then NOT have them in the actual release. The creepiest part about the Evil Dead trailer was this evil face peeking from under the stairs singing "Weeeeere gonna get yoooou" and it was NOWHERE in the movie. Such a disappointment.

The cast and crew got super sick while filming the original, too. I think the dreaded feeling looming over everyone is what helped make The Evil Dead such an epic classic.
@@servercalcancer7574 Exactly. The original was pure horror through and through. If you want to consider the end where he’s losing his mind then sure that’s humorous but their intention was to make a good scary movie. Everything after the original in Ash’s universe is straight horror/comedy.
This universe of Deadites keep it scary 100% and that’s what I’m here for. We got enough horror comedy movies to last a lifetime haha I want to be scared.

This really does look incredibly awesome the fact the book was taken to the city is like raised so many questions but also has me wondering how this little family is gonna survive against the deadites ash and mia only survived theirs possessions cause they each had something to fight for in their humanity !

Evil Dead was an over the top gore feast that got praised for its practical effects and eventually became a power fantasy of one mans battle against evil. And we loved it.
This looks completely separate to what Evil Dead is imo. I like the hotel setting, but this isn't what I pictured.

Out of curiosity, I went and looked up the origin of the Que Sera Sera song. Apparently, it was first introduced in a 1956 Alfred Hitchcock thriller movie titled "The Man Who Knew Too Much" in a scene where a mother played by Doris Day performed the song in the embassy where her son was held captive by a group of political assassinators, in hopes her singing the song loudly would signal her son to start whistling along as her husband tried to find where the kidnappers hid their child. The song kinda resonance well, in a somewhat ironic and twisted way, with the premise of this movie.

When everyone was hating on the Prey trailer I KNEW it would be good; when everyone hated on the Hellraiser trailer I KNEW it would be good. I'm not too sure about this though, looks like something on the sci-fi channel.

It definitely has recaptured the fun of the originals while keeping the horror from the remake
The thing that scares me the most is the name of the Director: Sam Raimi, he disappointed me so much with UnHoly (starring Jeffrey Dean Morgan) he had everything to make a really good horror movie and he went the easy way with cheap jumpscares made with even cheaper VFXs, so I’m not very convinced about thinking that he can do this right.
Posdata: I think little blond girl will have plot armor, and the mom is gonna be “cured” and all will live happily ever after before a final jumpscare come out in the last seconds with the purpose of trying to make a sequel.

Considering Raimi and Campbell were involved in production and Raimi hand picked the director I have alot of Faith in this one .

The original Evil Dead wasn't a comedy at all. It was pure horror film with Ash being a more serious character than he became in the second film wich basically was a remake and continuation of the original movie at the same time.
