They're able to show you Fallon's brother over and over throughout the movie and you never suspect. And it's partly because they've led you to believe that you're in on it, because you were able to see through all the other disguises they were continually wearing. Subtle!

This movie is brilliant. Awesome bit of foreshadowing. The bird trick and the kid asking "Where's his brother?"
    "Which knot did you use?"
    "I don't know."

They foreshadowed Borden's twin, too, with the Asian magician early in the movie, with his goldfish bowl trick. They even said that he held it between his knees, and he walked like someone who was crippled every. day. of. his. life. so people wouldn't suspect. Total, lifelong dedication. That's what the Borden brothers did, and the other one cutting his finger off was just part of it. Having to live as one man their entire adult lives for the sake of that trick made the Asian magician look like a duffer.

    • @daved2352

I heard somewhere that the old Asian guy is based on a real magician from that period who pretended to be an old man from his early twenties so he could go out in public doing his old man routine and then take off the makeup and be a young guy who nobody would look twice at. Thinking about it I believe the guy in question wasn't even really asian but learned to speak chinese and had chinese staff working for him.
It was so long ago I can't remember, I need to look it up.

What i always found verry odd: such a water tank takes up to 500L of water. So it weights a half metric ton. So they used this tank on stage and then somehow moved it in the basement below the stage still filled with water. It is already a verry dumb answer to the question how he moved the watertank below the trap door, "he is the magician ask him". Yeah thats the point of the question. You cant explain? Thank you.
So at the end of the day this man was convicted just because he was backstage and a rival of the victim. Yes there is a motive and he was present. But it always bugged me how they convicted him without actual proof.

    • @jhornacek
      @jhornacek Год назад

There wasn't just one water tank. Angier had a water tank on stage to be used for an earlier trick in the act, but he already had a water tank under the stage, set there by his blind assistants. We see at the end that there are dozens (hundreds?) or water tanks with cloned Angiers there, so Angier had lots of water tanks.
But Caine's character (and the public) don't know about the multiple water tanks. They think there was only one, so they assume Borden moved it to kill Angier.

You would have known it was Colorado before seeing the building with the sign Colorado on it because the character clearly says "If Colorado is the end of my journey" before the building shot but it seems like the both of you missed it while talking over the movie. It seems you also missed the significance and background to who he was visiting at 4:45 as Tesla was mentioned while you 2 were talking over the movie about Game of Thrones, Lord of the RIngs, and Smeagol. There was also the two of you joking about another man in the suit holding the fishbowl when there's a lot of significance going on in that short, quick scene of the magician leaving but it was talked over. Then, when he says "I don't care about my wife" - a very powerful part of the money showing his obsession (and which he immediately regrets saying) - that was also completely glossed over as the girl joked around about copy machines.
Way too much rambling and jokes over the movie supposedly being reacted to. I had to close the video after this.
These are deep movies with important visuals and especially dialogue. They aren't simplistic movies like, for eg., marvel movies. They need to be properly paid attention to if you want to fully grasp the depth, significance, complexity, and brilliance of the film.

His clone was supposed to die, every show, and he the original, live. But other guy, switched things! They both got what they wanted. One, the ultimate illusion. The other, real magic. And both, ultimate revenge.... there's actually so much so many times, foreshadowing in this movie, it confuses u! If u read about Tesla history, he was going to invent a machine that conducted world wide electricity, for free. GE and Edison, and power companies, couldn't have that! He also developed an early laser weapon, the initial shot from it still exists in Russia, miles of ground where nothing grows, 100 years later! His original partners stole a few secrets, and started an organization that still exists, UL or UIL, United Laboratories, u use products that they agree are safe, every day! The minute Tesla died, FBI guys were outside his door, came in, secured the area, and took everything!
But ultimately, this ruins most magic tricks....if u cant hide something in ur hands or on ur body, there's always a double! U have to see hugh's master film, Prisoners, done by Villanueve a master director, who is Nolan's contemporary! Scarlett was masterful in Lucy, and The girl with the pearl necklace!
So ultimately, he lived, his twin died, and the clone lived, then was killed!
But ultimately, this ruins most magic tricks....if u cant hide something in ur hands or on ur body, there's always a double! So in reality, the worst person in this movie, is the boss, he knows everything!

Yep, many tricks do require a plant in the audience who the magician knows to pick out to come on stage. Though it depends on the trick of course. This is why I hate when shows like Americas Got Talent let "clairvoyants" and "psychics" perform. Most audiences believe these people are real. They don't understand the judges and people from the audience are all in on it.
After a good magician entertains you. So it the judges and others must act surprised to make the trick seem real and amazing. You, even more, can tell if the magician says things like "We never met before this right" or asks a judge "You hadn't talked to me before today right?", it's an obvious sign they have.
Again, I get it's part of magic. But many people today believe some things they see when it comes to clairvoyants and "guessing" magic. Remember, if these people were real with real powers, they wouldn't be trying to get their own show for money. They could just play the winning lottery number or bet on the SuperBowl on the winning team.
In short clairvoyants/psychics and other "Read your mind" people aren't real magic. There is no slide of hand or some great thing happening behind the scenes. It's just setup people acting shocked.

I could not finish because you guys talked over everything. It makes your reactions seem ungenuine and gimmicky

If you want to watch the movie then watch the movie. The whole point of a RUclips reaction video is that you've already seen the movie and are there to watch them react to it.

dont like the girl in this video don't disrespect a legend like bale and say that none of his performanaces were special or amazing when he quite literally has more amazing performances than dicaprio, pitt, phoenix and more

You guys talk way way to much. And not with any insightful comments. Just inanity. How do you even catch half if the dialogue? This isn’t reaction. It’s mindless commentary. Try keeping quite for a few seconds and being absorbed by a spellbinding movie. Such an annoying viewing. You must love the sounds of your own voices.
