just to learn how much the canvas was, which you told me right away. I stayed because I learned so dang much watching the actual removal and installation. Thanks for a great video.
Your great. That was very educational. I like how you even left in the mishaps. And your little boy and that happy dance at the end was an epic finish. We just bought our new canvas from Bear Creek and now we wait for its arrival.
G'day from Western Australia. Great job! And an excellent instruction video. A simple and easy to follow guide to replacing the canvas on a pop up. Thank you for posting!
This looks amazing! So you're saying you have to ship your existing canvas to the company making the replacement canvas - versus this being some sort of warranty replacement. Anybody ever remove the canvas and just make that back panel a window? Meaning the externior panel that folds up is just a frame for a window - no more bed. For those RVs that have that fold out back canvas bed. Not a pop up like this one.
Yes, you have to ship your old canvas in, but only if they don't have the exact template for your camper. If you want to ensure you get the right sized canvas, I would suggest sending it in. This was not a warranty replacement. I got this camper off facebook marketplace, and it had a lot of water damage from a leaking roof.
I just ordered though bear creek for my 90 starcraft starflyer and they had it in stock. I ordered last Monday and got it the next Friday in the height of camping season. I highly recommend them
it'd make a great present from me and my brothers to go and replace dads pop up materials on his old camper , we shared a lot of memories with that thing , crazy how expensive them kits are
I bet he would love that. It is expensive, but I'm actually surprised that's all it costs. There is a lot of material, and it must take a lot of time to sow it all together. Thanks for stopping by.
I went with Bear Creek for my 1989 Coleman Chesapeake that I bought for 500.00. I got lucky that I didn't have to send the old canvas in. I will be paying 1000.00 plus 70.00 for shipping and handling. I'll have to wait a few months as they are really back ordered, but that's ok because I enjoy fall/winter camping. In the mean time I'll keep working on the restoration of the camper. Thanks for your great videos. Really enjoy them and I'm learning a lot as this is my first camper and I'm a lady with not a lot of building experience but willing to learn.
I love camping! I've also got a habit of buying campers. I'm already 2 campers past this one. I now have a small travel trailer, and love it. I appreciate you stopping by my channel.
There is a fabric shop near me that will make a new tent end for your pop up trailer. He requires the whole piece so he can fabricate a new one. One bunk end cost me $500. If you have a tent trailer make sure you fully dry your canvas before you store your camper. You did a great job. That canvas looks great.
Great video. I ordered my canvas last month from Bear Creek Canvas. Your video did help me decide who to buy it from. Thanks. Keep up the great work & videos
Thank you very much, I think I can, my husband can do most of it, but we’ve always done thing together, your video was very helpful to us and I’m sure to others 👍🏻👍🏻
Hi Rande. Just got a Viking pop up for free and researching recanvasing. Already found Bear Creek and BOOM! Found your amazingly helpful video. It’s going to be such a help when the time comes. Can’t thank you enough for your efforts to help. Regina, from the coast of Massachusetts. (and Poppy).

That means seeing the mistakes along with the good stuff. Congrats on the "New Fleetwood." I'm sure you will make plenty of good memories in your new camper.
While I don't have a camper I've got canvas on the big boat and once a year I use a light combo of Dawn and Bleach as a clean up and once dry I Armorall the entire top and compartment covers and this does a great job of waterproofing and removing stains. For such a lot of Canvas they did an excellent job....I also carry a bag of buttons and I keep those lubricated with T-9 Boeshield.....It's a Boeing Product designed to stick and lubricate joined metal surfaces on Planes....Sea Ya!!
Thanks for the input. They were really pushing not using chemicals on the canvas. Only water to clean it, otherwise it deteriorates the natural waterproofing. I have heard people say they use dawn and bleach too. I guess if its working for you, then keep doing it.
Great vid on the buttons you need to line up were the button will go than pock a hole the material than install the button they will not cut through the material.
Very good video! I also rebuilt my roof like you but, like you, I learned from my first experience so I may redo it again. You have convinced me that replacing my canvas is the way to go. Too bad we never get what we have in it back on resell but we have the satisfaction of enjoying it.
I'm not sure if I will keep this camper or sell it, but either way I'm happy that I did the canvas. Since I bought the whole camper for only $1K, I'm sure I can get all my money back. How's your new roof holding up?

I'm in the Midwest as well .. way further south in the st louis area. I would suggest to anyone that does this kind of thing do it in the fall to winter. As someone who has a kind of seasonal job depending on the year (some years are 50+ every week some not so much) try to order during their slow times to keep everyone working. As well as to have your product long before everyone else as well. Everyone wins.

Nope, definitely 1st time buyers remorse. Ours is essentially totaled unless we go through everything you did with the roof and canvas. Your videos have made me re-think junking ours. As of now still undecided 😕
I think the pup up campers are great for people that like the tent camping for the nature sounds. The closer up campers have a different feel with almost no natural light which is fine some some and not for others. Anyway thank you very much for your video!
Looked at a 90 Chesapeake, today. Canvas is quite spotty with mold looks like its been years since was opened. Only $100 for the camper, but also needs tires, theres a spot where roof looks a little damped down. Cupboards have the fake wood stickers pealing-off.. likely needs where bearings.. I don't know a whole lot about fabric, but it felt pretty good to me. The canvas seemed heavy duty and well stitched. If you have your own sewing machine, that's awesome. No need to pay for someone else to do it for you. I can barely sew a button on, so I was happy with the results.

I have no idea what this comment is about, but it did make me laugh.
@@GoMidwestFishing Watch your vid again. Lol. There is some kinda sasquatch dude hanging above your computer. Happy Thanksgiving and thanks for the intel on canvases. Luckily we managed to salvage ours...but so appreciative for vids like this.
@@krissifaith6709 Ahhhhh.... Yes, I do have a little sasquatch by my computer. It was a Christmas present. It has just become part of the landscape and I forget its there. Thanks for the laugh.

Man I hate too be honest but it looks like shit and the price from the experience I have which isn't a while lot but I have a 2k sailrite industrial sewing machine and know how to stitch, they are using some cheap ass fabric!! You get what you pay for us all I'm saying. Don't be fooled by low priced Taylor's. Stuff won't last three years I promise..
To redo the entire canvas on a camper that size in Australia would be 5-7000 Australian dollars or in US 3-4000 if not more
Dang, that's more than I paid for this camper. This was a few years ago, so I'm sure the price went up since then.

I don't know a whole lot about fabric, but it felt pretty good to me. The canvas seemed heavy duty and well stitched. If you have your own sewing machine, that's awesome. No need to pay for someone else to do it for you. I can barely sew a button on, so I was happy with the results.
