Those tire "repair" kits should be outlawed. If you ever use something like that to get out of a jam, please, please get the tire checked and repaired properly by a professional with a proper inside patch and filler.
I have seen tires with the inner liner turned to dust that still looked good from the outside. When I worked for a now defunct rental car company, we had one of those plugs failed and the customer knocked over a mailbox. Thank God he wasn't traveling down the highway when it happened.

Outlawing them would be asinine. Go beg for the government for more ridiculous laws while you're at it.

@@brucego1739 like where gas tanks need to go so cars don't "Pinto" or electrical panels need to be grounded, tires need to have tread, microwave ovens need to contain emissions, lead can't be used in motor fuel, seat belts need to be attached to reinforced points, garage doors in FL need to be reinforced for hurricanes, guard rails need to be secured properly so some moron who is stupid enough to use a quickie repair doesn't cross the highway when the tire pops. Just another common sense regulation to keep idiots safe from themselves and killing an innocent in the process. We are already regulated, why not one more. At least they stopped selling flammable "fix a flat" and but not before a few techs died when they had wheels blow up in their faces because some idiot didn't say, oh I tried fix a flat.

I’ve used them to plug 35 inch tires on my Jeep countless times and drove on them for years without issue, and plenty other people have too. They’re life savers, and the HF version is good quality. This isn’t the cheap plastic stuff

You do realize this is the proper way to patch a tire for small puncture? Ex small nail staple. This is the exact set up a tire shop would use and have used for sometime. It is up to the operator if this patch is acceptable per situation. Adding regulation to manufature of a nieche and situational item is senseless. The coffee is hot at Mcdonalds and spoons CAN lead to obiesty.

@@damianyounger132 actually I worked for a manufacture owned tire center for more than a decade. It was not and is not an approved method of repair by any tire manufacturer. It is proper to exclude the "filler". It is never OK to repair without dismount of the tire and application of a patch. It is impossible to check the inside of the tire without removal. As I noted above, if the tire has been run low on air, there can be internal damage that is not visible. Point of fact. I have dismounted tires which appeared undamaged on the outside of and found the inner liner turned to dust and ready to show cord. I expect to be flamed by some. However, just because someone has been lucky, doesn't make them right.
