- Here's the best method I've found for how to quickly take apart pallets and reuse the wood for other projects.
Using this approach I can rip apart a pallet start to finish in less then 20 minutes, saving 90% of the wood and nails for reuse.

I'll be damned. A young guy teaches me a dozen things I Just Did Not Know.
Dude you’re a life saver. It is frightening how often I hear my gf say “we could build that out of pallets.” …and that pallet stack ain’t getting any smaller. Yet! Cheers
This is how simple how-to vids should be made! To the point, informative, no long intro.
Well done my dude 🤜🤜🤛🤛
I’ve been doing pallets like this for a few years. Why did this video just now show up? 😂 So useful!
I already knew how to do all this. I just wanted to watch to give you the view. Good job.😊
One thing my Dad showed me for the nails without heads is to set up to pull it like normal, but then twist it out sideways. I've done this a ton and it can be a bit difficult but it works really well.
Ahh yeah I feel like I remember an old guy I worked for showing me that. Good tip 👍🏻usually by that part of the process I’m just like “fuck it” anyways haha
There's an old tool called a nail puller that has articulated jaws and a sliding weight on the handle that pulls headless nails.
The sideways thing works too if you just have a couple and don't want to dig out the nail puller.
Large tile nippers can work too.
I don't do that enough to get a pallet ripper, I use 2 flatbars, one on either side, pull in opposite directions.
I mostly used to tear apart furniture to het into a dumpster, so mostly have to pull staples, but the carcass is often made of hardwood or clear pine which is great for projects, even large pieces of leather occasionally.
If hard to latch onto. Get a pair of Vampliers or their cheaper version Engineer Pliers. You can just grab twist and rip them out if you're smart about leverage
@@SD-jf7nbnice idea. That tool is a "slide hammer, nail puller"
That tool doesn’t work well on Euro Palletts. They must be sturdier than the US ones.
I like the pallet ripper. I got some tips for you that I used to get nails out of the sideboard. You just take a claw hammer and work it from side to side. Once you hook the nail in it in the nails will come out pretty easily. I’ll definitely be getting one of those pallet rippers though.😂
I'm rebuilding my rv. I really appreciate this video, especially after spending 2hours on 2 pallets. We need a dirtbag diy pallet buster video please.
Nice I’m glad it was helpful!! The pallet Buster was a game changer. I’ll have to try making one and get back to you! :)
I seen a video a while back of a guy using one of those mini generic car jacks that come with some vehicles by the spare tire. He hooked his drill to it and it would jack up the boards and pop them off
I gotta try this! People keep mentioning it.
Keep the videos up man I’m that guy in the neighborhood that loves pallets. I’ve made sheds, cabins, fences, portable storage so many choices. I’ve been waiting for a channel like this to come along!!
Very cool! Love that you found me! We sound like kindred spirits :)
Be good to see your pallet house!
I’ll definitely be posting updates as it progresses!
Wonderful video
Absolutely fantastic. Can’t wait to see the cabin build come together!!!!
Thank you!! More vids on that project are coming soon :)
Impressive
Hey, my guy! You just got a new subscriber! Cool video!
Thanks for the sub! Welcome!! 😀
That was possibly the greatest video on RUclips. So informative, you literally thought of every little detail. Amazing job keep at this.
Wow, thanks! I’m so glad you liked it :) there’s definitely more coming!
I've always had really good luck pulling nails with a pair of water pump. Pliers or channel locks depending what you want to call them
Oh interesting. Channel locks are probably my top 3 favorite hand tools. So useful for so many things. I’ll have to give that a try.
Awesome info! Cute pup too :) Looking forward to future videos
Thanks James :) looking forward to our next puppy play time and meeting the new babe!
Thanks man 😉
Looking forward to the palette cabin
Progress coming soon!
Awesome video! Pallet deconstuction... It's one of those things I forgot I gave up on once I realized how difficult it is. This makes it easy.... looks like I CAN afford that shed!
Thanks Jacob, NEW SUBSCRIBER
Thanks for the sub! And welcome!
I gave u a thumbs up, this time.
Received :)
Very concise and informative video. Thanks for not wasting our time. You've earned a sub.
I appreciate that! Thanks for watching :)
your shorts are great happy to sub!
Glad you like them! Thanks for watching and welcome :)
I will have to try mounting a crow bar laterally to remove nails. I have been using a MAPP gas torch to heat nails up red hot and they come out easily.
Oh smart! Yeah this works pretty well. Sometimes they still break off but if the nail head doesn’t snap, they always come out pretty easy.
If only pallets was free in my country 🤷🏻♀️
Love this video. For the dirtbags with only a hammer and crow bar, you can use the first board you get off as a pry bar. Stick it between the second and third board as close to the 2x4 as possible and step on the end of your first board and you get plenty of leverage.
I AM that dirtbag & i appreciate the tip since I don't have $60 for a pallet popper. I'm not investing $ into trash
The ones I get is really thin and they use nail guns to secure it, there is also a big nail on the corners
Subbed for the cabin. Do you know if these are commonly treated or painted? I want to use them in the garden, and I don't wanna introduce harmful chemicals (especially if I use them in hoboculture)
Is there a resell value for the wood?
It’s a little bit funny the video is like “want to know the easy way to do this? Buy the thing explicitly designed to do this”
But isn’t that always the way? Lol
✌🏽
Also should note the easy ways to tell what kind of wood a pallet is using. The hardwood pallets around me are sought after and people will buy the wood from them
Been trying to learn how to tell the difference! Other than weight I’m not sure. Don’t know much about identifying wood by grain but wanting to learn
Buy a bunch of tools then you can take apart the pallets I want Afro engineering not cheap gringo with money
Sir this is a Wendy’s
