This was the season where Ronaldo truly became one of the GOATs in the game, its incredible that despite being a winger he managed to score 42 goals and its even crazier that he would later score 40 to 60 goals per season when he went to Real Madrid. Despite his falling out with Ten Hag and that ill advised interview with Piers Morgan, Ronaldo will always be my favourite Manchester United (imo he's the best player to have ever played for Manchester United)
That season United played mainly with Ronaldo pickup a freeroll to utilize his speed and dribble, Roney with Tevez at the time would interchange position to support the attack.
Feck me, i was unhappy with Ronaldo the way left this season, felt he could of done a job but Erik Ten Haag has changed the current team for the better- long may it continue. You have to respect the greatest of CR7 though. 40+ goals 2007/08 season from the Wing, that was 15 yrs ago!!
I think that he was messing up the good vibes from the locker room, arguing with team mates/managers, trying to be greater than United. PS: I have a huge respect for him, but this time nothing worked.
It was such a special time and a treat to watch this team during this era.there was something in the water.this United team had so much depth. The premier league as a whole was much stronger back then and more entertaining. My favorite players being Ronaldo,Scholes,Carrick, and Ferdinand.
@Jørgen Linnerud Most of them were scored in Spain for a team he's used to playing with. Tonally different than doing it in a new league, country, culture etc
Miss the fergie days. We happy with a top 4 these days. Never give the title a real go. The mentality of the players we had back then were real winners compared to now. Thank you fergie for our success. Gave a lot of man utd fans a lot of joy and a lot of pain for the scousers back then 😂
I really feared for us at the beginning of this season. We stuttered badly in the first few games, and losing Rooney to injury and then Ronaldo to a suspension was looking like a nightmare. We had a poor start in the 05/06 season that ended up costing us. I thought we'd fly out of the traps like we did in 06/07, but once we settled, boy did we settle. I think both the previous season and this one, most of the players were an average of 8/10 or above throughout. This one particularly we were almost flawless by the end.

Oh oh yesssss we had some great players man united had nani Ronaldo team Rooney Beckham Scholes carrick van persie forlan all of the good players we had. Back in the days.
People are to quick to define legends and very much focused on goals. Denis Irwin, Uniteds very own Maldini. Steve Bruce, 20 goals in a season way back when. Jaap Stam monster enough said. Ferdinand and Vidic, probably the most telepathic partnership in prem history. People forget the dirty work at the back.
50 years old and i can count on one hand the times I've seen a better football team. This side was incredible. Rooney Ronaldo and Tevez were the best front 3 I've ever seen. I always thought Ferguson dropped a proper clanger letting Tevez slip through his fingers in his pursuit of Berbatov who as wonderful a player he was didn't improve that team at all. But lets not forget the crown jewel of that side Paul Scholes he is was and always will be one of the best players ever.
@@DubC no blud.... It was 4-4-2 /4-3-3 hybrid formation.... Yes they played rotating front up.... But thats only when he had the right chances..... Go check pl official site.... He is categorized as midfielder in a 442..... Just cuz he came up front doesn't mean he played like salah or similar guys
Best United team of all time position for position. They won everything and did it in style. Lost to City both times that season, played like dog shit in both Derby's. Best United IX ever assembled, still not able to beat City.
And Brentford did the double over Man$ity 2022/23, what's your point? Who reads too much into a head-to-head game or 2? Loads of teams have done the double over better teams it doesn't mean they're better than that team it can just mean they were lucky, you're only for sure better if you finish many points above the team in question. A lot of people would include the 2 seasons either side of 2007/08 as 1 great ManUtd team 2006/07-2008/09. If you did that, that's 4 wins vs City out of 6 PL games. ManUtd also did the double over them in 2009/10 as well as knocking them out of the LeagueCup SF. Following season ManUtd got a win & draw vs City in PL. 2011/12 played 4 ManUtd won 2 but ManCity won the 2 that mattered more to nick the title. 2012/13 played just in PL, ManUtd beat ManCity away, effectively won the title very early that season, already PL champions by the time City came to OldTrafford. ManUtd have also beaten them quite a few times with much worse teams, quite a few away wins against City of course City have won a lot of these games as well but I just don't get your point. Luck or injuries or suspensions or decisions or timing in the season or a mixture of these things can result in you losing a PL game or 2 vs a team. ManUtd lost 1-0 home&away to Chelsea in 1993/94 ManUtd won the PL, Chelsea finished 14th. They both played eachother in the FAcup final, 4-0 to ManUtd which was a more realistic indication of the difference between the 2 than the PL games. Plus 2007/08 ManUtd didn't have a good start and that's heavily to do with Rooney getting injured first game and Cristiano getting sent off the following game and ManCity was in the 3rd game and I remember KasperSchmeichel admitting City rode their luck to nick the 1-0 and also the OldTrafford game was the MunichAirCrash tribute game and that could have effected the players, it could've just been ManCity played well in the odd game I don't really need to make excuses they were irrelevant defeats really. I barely ever think about them when thinking about that season.

Tevez's goal contributions in this season as well his great link up play with Rooney and Ronaldo were so important.
