  • If you're interested in getting a Playstation Portal, watch this video as I give you a breakdown of the pros and cons of this device.
Starting off, this device is not a standalone PlayStation device. It needs a PS5 to run. You're able to access your PS5 via remote play on your portal.
When it's compared to phone apps such as PS Remote Play, I've seen that the latency is worse when using a phone or iPad to play your PS5. On the PlayStation Portal, there are minimal latency issues as long as you have a strong wifi connection with higher than 15mbps speeds.
The biggest downside to this device is that it doesn't come with Bluetooth support. It has internal speakers but if you want to use headphones, they'll need to be connected via 3.5mm jack or you have to buy Sony's headphones that have PlayStation Link in order to connect headphones wirelessly.

Also this is spot on about the latency. Something about the portal is special, what you see might lag/drop in frame rate but your input stays super smooth. Also about the phone, that’s another big one for me too, I use my phone as a phone a lot, not a game console

In the settings on the iOS app you can set it not to disconnect for 5 minutes if you swap to reply to a text or something just a heads up.
