He didn't have confidence in his vocals at first so when he wrote songs, he said he'd just give them to Gene or Paul. Rumor is he first sang on a song called Queen For A Day, then the first recorded track that made it to an album was Shock Me. Ace is actually a good singer.
They actually have collaborated before as "guest musicians" in later solos they each released. Peter gave some drumming to Ace's "Trouble Walkin'" Album whereas Ace gave some guitar work for Peter's "Cat #1" Album. I also found a song where they both sang Cold Gin together.
I heard some guy say that Ace Frehley's guitar playing was overrated the other day on RUclips and I started laughing. I don't even listen to Kiss like that, but when this song came out in 1978, it was the one song that made me start listening to the band more.

Ace is the king of raw, nasty guitar! And he has that cool, deadpan punk voice...... a totally unique rocker. I've been a huge Ace fan since 1976!
Well, I love his voice and singing style. It's just so laid back and casual and kinda loopy.. makes smile everytime I hear him... in a *good* way :)

I was there... 1979 Greensboro,NC.. I was 11 yrs old. My uncle took me.. I was the most happy kid in the world!!

Right on. I too just finished reading No Regrets. Unlike Gene's 2001 KISS and Tell, Ace @ least accounts for his mistakes.

Dynasty tour! I saw them on this tour at the Summit in Houston in '79. They're a little sloppy live, but the energy and excitement is hard to beat.
