You Said the MAGIC WORD MORE VIDEOS. Like Pete said TIME We Never Have ENOUGH TIME. Would Love To Watch the MASTERS at WORK. Thanks for Your TIME and PETES.
This is a dream come true for me. As someone who is both self-taught and formal schooling. As well someone who as always been fascinated by machining. To get these sorts of insights by a master machinist/engineer is wonderful. One-thousand NA HP is so cool! "I am not a turbo guy." Naturally aspirated is so pure. And a V-12 is such a great sound. Amazing work in the shop and with the videos. Many thanks.
If in your life you get to encounter/spend time with guys like this-you know pretty early on that it’s a blessing. Appreciate the time you get with those around you who are worthy of your admiration. The wisdom can’t be overrated. Tremendous!
Aardema is from Friesland, just as i am, its a special type of dutch type. And from a very educated family. No wonder he says time is the biggest problem….. regards and thx for your documentation of persisting men!
I love to watch these guys know about them for years, I spent a lifetime in motorsports in a different discipline. Since we were kids a good friend of mine started his vw engine shop in his moms garage Jim Fueling had this idea about making a four valve head no drawings to speak of just a old bridgeport and my hand my hand me down lathe I remember knocking in valve seats on the kitchen floor I recall it made 83hp on one cylinder. It was my wins in the buggie classes thanks to jim that got me picked up by nissan, then nissan had jim do work on there 4 valve that contributed to multiple championships as well at bonneville and many other aspects of motor design and endurance testing another self-taught engineer. It was a small world back then.
Absolutely incredible!!!..I wish I lived near these guys to learn from them before this great information goes away...thank you for sharing this..-John
Your videos are so interesting, thank you for taking the time to share. I live in a little Dutch town in Michigan and we have a lot of people with the last name of Aardema funny how it’s pronounced here “ Ard a ma” instead of “Ard dim a”
Time, we all wish for more time. Building an engine from scratch takes immense amount of time and passion. You really can hear dislike toward pushrods in Petes voice, he really don’t like pushrods. None of any modern engines uses pushrods. Old tractor tech from the fifties. 😂
Another awesome video! Thank you for sharing! I am curious what size of aluminum wire that Pete, and Kevin like to use to join the block together with the spool welder?
I got an old Oldsmobile 2.3 l quad 4 that makes 190 horsepower that's got 243,000 MI and I will still Chirp going in the third. I give it to maintenance and synthetic oil but then again I don't know.
what kind of spark plugs are you using? surface discharge? why did you choose 60 degree angle? why not 65 like f1 needed for more power? i would love to see some data i really like how nivlac57 has a overlay with a bunch of data while the car is running it also allows the viewer to see what has happed for example if he says a cylinder went lean on the last half of the run you can see that. Bmw made some really cool engines like the m88 s70/2 and the s50b32 (s50 and s70 are very similar) just google a dyno graph of a s50b32 peak torque at 3250 and peak power at 7400
@ Yes I understand that I just wondering why f1 engines had and issue with packaging needed more room in v for manifold and ports and this engine does not. It could be that the engine is much bigger f1 was a 3.5liter while this is a 5liter or a compromise to reduce frontal area.

The raw talent of the entire team is simply on another level. Thank you for another great video.

I liked watching Pete get his mind-gears going. I hope I'm that sharp when I am his age.

Their coming along, well done
id love to see them put the 2.0L in a drag civic.
This is amazing to me.
Brilliance!!!!
Some good old American ingenuity.
Those are some very LONG camshafts! The harmonic vibrations at high rpm must be insane!

What fuel are they running?
' ............... V12 engine designed to rev up to an astonishing 11,500 RPM.???'
Ain't worth a can of beans till it's actually run a race!
Good fun

60, 180, 120 degrees is natural for a v12.
Any other angle is for packaging.
