How to Paint Furniture Red

- Watch how I paint this wooden nightstand red without sanding or priming it. However, I decided to refinish the top of the nightstand by removing the old finish by scraping and sanding to prep it for a fresh stain job. Staining is optional, as you can choose to paint your full piece red if you want!
Enjoy the makeover process and feel free to ask me any question in the comments below.

Wow what a big difference by adding that black wax. Really made a huge difference in toning that red. Softer it up. The hardware was smart idea spray painting it black. What a handsome piece 👍🏼
I think the black wax was a good idea. It tones down the 'in your face' red to a rich and more sofisticated look. I think it also tones in better with the black stained top. Overall, it's a beautiful piece, and I love it.
Thanks Deb! Glad you liked it!
Magnificent! Thank you for the description of techniques.
Beautiful color!
Thanks!
Came out perfect with the black wax
Thanks! Glad you liked it!
That's nice!
Why no sanding or primer on the body of the piece?
Nice job Jamie. Can I ask why you didn’t use primer. Did the paint have a built in primer? ❤
Thanks Allison! And yes Mango paints do not require primer. Their website actually says "Scuff, scuff - that’s enough’ is our prep motto!" haha It never hurts to use a primer, but this stuff was pretty durable and I thought it could get away without one though! Cleaning the surface is most important before painting, you want to make sure the paint adheres to the surface.
Nice! ❤
Love the black wax gave it a moody look what can I say about red ❤🎈
Thanks! Glad you liked the wax
@@FurnitureFlippa the 🎈 is for pennywise not to many people would go with red every one usually copies somebody I like different
I think the black wax was a bad idea, it just makes it look filthy, the top however looks fantastic.👍
Glad you liked the top! And I can see it being a hit or miss for some people. Thanks for watching John!
@@FurnitureFlippa It's just that black wax mate, I thought it looked great after the light wax, keep doing the good work my friend.
Totally! Next 2 projects I plan to do some restorations, stay tuned!@@johngrubb1590
If you clear coated over the red paint, you can't use the dark wax, correct? The wax wont stick to the clear coat.
It came out nice. Looks much better with the dark wax.
I have added clear wax over some finishes before, then buffed to create an extra smooth finish. You could add some dark wax to the clear coat, but it just may not appear as dark because it would rub off easier, but it would still work to some degree! But thanks so much for watching!
