I just found this post tonight and subscribed to your channel. I had to smile when you had your thoughts of never thought you’d be doing this at this time in your life. I feel the same way I’m 64 and have been doing refinishing for a long time for myself and family but now have been doing for others for the past 3 yrs. I find it satisfying also and happy to feel fulfilled.🙂
You sure have a nice work space. Love this kind of restoration. Original wood is still number 1 with me. I think I will get a Bosch sander. A few people have said how much they love it. Linda Beals.
@@ItsAboutFlippinTimeoh okay thank you. I recently refinished a chester for myself taking it to raw wood then a paint wash. I started with 80 grit. It did the job but if I remember correctly I had to sand 3 more times to get that beautiful smooth finish. The piece you refinished is lovely❣️
beautiful! ignore the negative crap from commenters who can't enjoy your success. this is a gorgeous makeover. this piece now has cache AND market value thanks to your efforts. well done! 💗
It's not negative crap and I love her work which I have told her over and over. She asked what we think about it. I didn't say it wasn't a great job. I just gave my opinion about how I liked the original finish better. We all have different tastes. Makes the world go round.
No need to be sorry. I too thought it was beautiful as is. It may not be my style as far as the stain, but I can appreciate it. My client, simply wanted a change, and felt a lighter tone would work better with her home. Thank you for watching. I appreciate all opinions. 🤍
@@ItsAboutFlippinTime I can understand that. I'm an antique collector and if a piece is in good condition as this was, I like the original finish. I know that others like more modern styles and updates. The chest does look good with the white wash. When you take some of the pieces you work on and transform them with paint (especially green), they look so beautiful. I still think you are one of the better furniture flippers on RUclips.
Yes, you ruined it. This style and natural wood is highly desired. You are out of date, sorry. The only thing I would have changed is the hardware with a good wood cleaning.

I hope it turns out as amazing as you envision!

Gorgeous!!
Thank you!!
The new paint wash looks great!
Thanks! I'm really happy with how the wash turned out!
Way much better than the orange!
What grit did you use first ? I feel like I may be creating even more sanding for myself by starting off more coarse than is necessary.
I did start out with 60 grit on all the flat surfaces

Keyhole cover plate is aka an escutcheon. I learned that from another content creator.
I don’t even know if I can pronounce that! But thank you now I know!!
@ItsAboutFlippinTime I definitely can't pronounce it! Lol! Great work by the way. Loved the outcome and especially your dedication to detail!
I love the new look the orange is out of style. You made it beautiful again. But I would have changed the hardware to me it dates the piece

That sanding took 5000 years 😂😂😂
It felt like it too 😆
This piece is gorgeous from the git go...thank god she didn’t want it painted!
I'm beginning to suspect that 50% of woodworking is scraping and sanding. 😂
That might be an understatement! 🤓
Sorry, but I prefer the original finish since it was in such great condition.
