I've been watching a lot of these how to videos. Yours didn't have all the fancy editing. I learned more from yours than all the others. I'm going to try your method. Thank you!
Like the way you did the stars! It was a pain laying out the stars as I used stencil stars on top of white union and then paint blue and lift off the star decals. I'm going to try it your way next time!
Beautiful/Awesome work. First time, I've seen your work and love it. I'm new to this and looking at ideas of how to make wooden flags. Love the waves. I don't have anything to carve with yet, will buy a handheld carving machine soon. Looking to get a CNC machine in the near future. A question that I have, is how good of a job, will the CNC do within the waves? As you had to do, was to push in on the star sheets to create a star within the wave. Thanks for sharing :)
Thank you! Honestly it all depends on the software that you use. If you buy the higher end software such as V-Carve Pro it can carve out a wavy flag plus the stars with no issues. I haven't dived that deep into it yet but plan to this year hopefully!
For this video it was Minwax waterbased stain and scarlet was the color for the red and true blue for the union. I have since switched to barn red for my flags now
No template is meant for the waves in the flag. A lot of builders use a template to manufacture the waves in the flag then sand it even. But you are right, I did use a template for the stars.
"WOW" BEAUTIFUL Please make it to where we can just "Click" on your Etsy store website... from this video. I can't get to it from here... Thank you for sharing your beautiful art...
I get what you're saying but I have seen very few of the wavy flags that attempted to do the non straight lines and majority don't look right. This is what my customers prefer so I go with this method. Thanks for watching!
Every time your smoke detector went off I thought it was mine.
You’re not the only one lol

I like the way that you draw the waves and I appreciate your advice on how to do them.
Thanks for the video.
I always enjoy watching your videos; you are very thorough and methodical. Thank you for all you do.
Great tutorial and workmanship. I think I’m gonna torch the stars after to match the stripe look. Keep them coming brother
Thank you! I appreciate it!
Good pointer about not getting a pull of stain at the table blade.
I love this flag. Thanks for the video. I will be trying this very soon. Those stars look tedious. Beautiful work.
Once you get comfortable with the stars they aren't too bad!
Great job! This is by far the best video tutorial out there, thanks for all the great information.
David Gaffney thank you!!
Absolutely! I had to weed through YT to find this.
Looks amazing and thank you for the video it was so helpful
That looks amazing.
Awesome job, nice work carving out those stars! Takes me quite a while to do it.
Thank you!
Thanks bro just made my first wavy flag.
I saw it on the flag makers page! Looked awesome man. Keep up the great work as always! Thanks for watching!
Turn your phone horizontally so the video fills a wide screen monitor.
Yea on my next video that I am working on currently I did that.
Like the way you did the stars! It was a pain laying out the stars as I used stencil stars on top of white union and then paint blue and lift off the star decals. I'm going to try it your way next time!
Yea def would be easier! Good luck!
You really need to put a battery in your smoke detector.
Haha that was the first thing I did after this video.
I heard it too and actually thought it was one of mine.
@@TorchedWoodWorks My dog started to bark! Lol
I kept thinking it was mine.
Looks good man! I'm gunna have to give this one a shot!
Thanks man and good luck!
Very nice! Thanks for the tutorial! :)
Thank you!
TWW you did a fantastic job here. Nice tutorial, innovative technique. New subscriber here, many thanks!
Thank you!
Very nice
Change out your batteries in smoke alarm
Three years ago and I probably should go change them out again…😂

@@TorchedWoodWorks Thank you. Currently, I have my eyes on a CNC machine for $300ish and see what I can do with it :)
@@rickolmsted1156 awesome, good luck!!
very nice thx
Nice how to! It came out great!
Thank you!
I know is been three years lol but how do you use the CNC machine to carve the stars on the waive part of the union? Is that possible?
Don’t the big box stores already have 2 x 6 x 8’s ?
What color minwax do you use for your flags?
For this video it was Minwax waterbased stain and scarlet was the color for the red and true blue for the union. I have since switched to barn red for my flags now
Love the flag, thanks for sharing your time and talent! By the way, the chirping you hear is your smoke detector asking for a new battery!
Yea meant to change it before I started then forgot, next video will be chirp free!
Are the colors you use a gel stain? If so which brand & color. If not what type is it
Mineax tinteable water based stain. Barn red and true blue.
@@TorchedWoodWorks thank you, don't water based stain bleed?
@@johnd1375 these are all sperate pieces that I attach together after I stain so there isn't a risk of bleeding.
@@TorchedWoodWorks thank you
No template needed....but you used a template!.....The stars!
No template is meant for the waves in the flag. A lot of builders use a template to manufacture the waves in the flag then sand it even. But you are right, I did use a template for the stars.
Maybe I missed it, but what stains are you using?
Minwax water based stain from Lowes, red is scarlet the blue is true blue
Thanks much. Great video!!
@@joshblick Thank you!
How many hours do you have in this flag?
About 4 hours normally.
what size is the flag
37"x19.5
"WOW"
BEAUTIFUL

Thank you! And great tip! I didn't realize it didn't create the link, after some research I figured out how to do it. Thank you again!

Seriously that Flag is So BEAUTIFUL.
@@judichristopher4604 Thank you, I really appreciate the kind words. I love making them!
Smoke detector….. for the love of all that’s good…
Beautiful woodworking. Where do you get the template for the stars and is it plastic?
Thank you, here is the link and yes it's plastic. Very durable. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07D8MK5F6/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Which CNC Machine do you have?
@@Tools-at-work Bobs CNC E3
One more question bro. What is the blue color you're using? I looked up American blue but that is too light.
@@Tools-at-work I use true blue stain. It's a water based stain by minwax you can get at Lowes.
What disc did you use with the angle grinder?
Here is the link for the one I used. www.harborfreight.com/4-1-2-half-inch-carbide-cup-wheel-66613.html
Thanks!!!
What is the stain that is used
Need a battery for smoke detector had dog and my wife running around my house .
Yea, should have changed it out before the video. Was too far in before thinking about it though. Next time it will be beep free!
where u buy clamps from
gilbert arang bought the clamps off amazon. Had the pipes cut at Home Depot
Turn your phone side ways so your filming is better
Yea I figured that out, my next video will be like that.
My God....stick a battery in that damn smoke detector!.....Sheesh!!
My God......I did! lol
Please film horizontal next time, other than that GREAT video
Looks nice, however a wavy flag doesn't have straight lines

I can see what your saying, I didn't think of that , Good point, your doing a good job

Flag looks great but...socks and slides??? That is un-American. Lol Thanks for sharing. New sub.
haha that's just how I do it!
I was going to watch, but my tv is mounted to the wall and I could not turn it sideways.
how bout turning your phone, why people film like this is beyond me
Harrison Braden yea figured that out after the first video. Feel free to check out the other videos to enjoy turned phone style.
um uh
I prefer to build with Woodglut plans.
How about showing the work being done.... you talk way to much.
My wife would agree! But that is why I went and bought a tripod, my new videos will show the work being done. Hope you have a great day
